There are two quotes below about this issue copied from the black woman's forum "Lipstick Alley." The name of the thread is "What Really Happened at Ballou High School (Every student graduated)." Ballou was my neighborhood school but I ended up going elsewhere for HS. I never attended a day but still got report cards. No one noticed I never enrolled but still received C's for some courses. Happens everywhere. I worked at a charter school in PA that changed unexcused absences to excused as long as the parent brought a "note". So at the and of the school year, some parents brought 2 months worth of "notes" with excuses like Please excuse my student, I was getting my hair done and didn't have a ride to get him/her to school. How do I know? It was my job to change the records. I was pissed.
Great design selection - Can't wait to see this come to fruition! Let's hope this helps to make kids want to go to school - and stay in school - and bring about some real educational change in Ward 8.
DCAbsolutJohn1: well, alot of money was spent but, nothing's changed. The kids still aren't paying attention and learning anything nor are they going to class.
