Kreisler: Tambourin Chinois - Violinist Ray Chen and Amsterdam Sinfonietta - Live Concert HD

  • Kreisler might be one of the greatest violinists ever known. He composed a lot of works for violin and piano. In 1910 he wrote the avant-garde piece ‘Tambourin Chinois’, in which he experiments with exotic tunes. The piece is a celebration of faraway lands and sounds very surprising and fun. Excentric violinist Ray Chen performs 'Tambourin Chinois' together with Amsterdam Sinfonietta.
    The musicians:
    Amsterdam Sinfonietta
    Candida Thompson [violin/direction]
    Ray Chen [viool]
    On the musical program:
    Fritz Kreisler - Tambourin Chinois
Recording: Sunday the 17th of February 2019, live in music venue Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This concert is part of the public broadcasting series Het Zondagochtend Concert (The Sunday Morning Concert).

Ray is literally the least eccentric top violinist around. Most famous violinists have their own quirks and strongly characteristic ways of playing every piece they touch. Ray on the other hand knows how to cater to the audience and play pieces the way they sound best to most people.
