Yes, Ray Chen is doing a really great job here, but anyone has lisent to the orchestra? They're incredible
Good point in reference to the overall aspect of performance art-And lets go further than fingers and even orchestras and conductors and audiences that are essential components to make the magic of music -Lets consider what the composer was thinking and how did the ideas arise and arrive on the paper?
nice orchestra, conductor, and soloist.
@@juotung ye the conductor is good, but have u seen somenoe conducting 4'33? Thats the real deal
No lol, bc ray’s playing is so beautiful
My orchestra is playing this piece with a soloist (I am in first violin), and the orchestra part is harder than you think. The whole orchestra says it's hard!
“This silence belongs to us, and every single person out there is waiting for us to fill it with something.”

as a twoset fan, i found out many violinists like hilary hahn and ray chen. as a maltese when i first read the title i thought ray chen came to malta and i freaked out. we love ray chen
I think he did went to Malta!!
@@mjviolinista No it's in Moscow
@@rebeccajohn96 I know, I’m just saying that He already went to Malta - Last 2018
@@mjviolinista Aah ok. Thought you were talking about this video
What about Bomsori Kim?
This expressive violinist Ray Chen touches me with the wunderful way of playing the violin. For me he is one of the best in the world!
Pablo Maybe he’s trying to interpret something. I find closing my eyes and listening to it purely to be more satisfying compared to pointing out errors.
@@pablouuuu u should look at the original score
@@pablouuuu and I assume you’re better?
One of the best in the world for most I’d guess. Certainly one of the best in his generation. He’s a wonderful violinist. Menuhin winners don’t win unless they’re great.
@@pablouuuu it’s so obvious that you don’t know what you’re talking about. The capriccioso part is very intense and that requires fast and intended vibrato to play as opposed to the rondo part where the soloist can be expressive with slow and broad vibrato. He’s not legendary like Milstein, Kogsn, Rabin, Heifetz ... but he’s extremely good and worth watching than the rest.

The craziest thing to me is how much Ray improved in between performances. Every single time, you can hear that he’s putting even more in the piece than before.
Like 8:00
This is literally insane. From the effortless way he can play the insanely fast passages to the way he can express emotion through his deep vibrato and dynamics in the slow section, this is truly a work of art
It wouldn't be a Ray Chen performance without the broken bow-hairs at the end! Wow, I love that guy. Beautiful performance. He always looks like he's having so much fun.
Here again but this time because this seems to be Yuzuru's SP music.
Very excited about this!!
Such a clean use of the harmonics at 3:54
Most ppl have so much trouble that they do octaves and a chord at the end
Ray replaces harmonics with octaves in Sibelius like Perlman, except they make it work
@@tylermoore8218 who makmes it work? ray, perlman, or both?
@@andrewzhang8512 I think he meant both
Funny story - I clicked on your comment at precisely the time my video went to 3:54. The timing was so precise that the video didn't even pause and jump, it just flowed perfectly into that exact second.
So many violinists are very technical and wonderful, but Ray Chen is both technically superb and passionately full of expression. 🎻 🎶
One of the cleanest interpretations I’ve found! As an anime weeb and classical musician, I thoroughly enjoy any interpretation of this piece, especially Ray Chen!

I always get chills at 1:40. Probably my favorite part of the entire piece
Totally!
Me: wow ray played with his eyes closed, he’s really good
What actually happened: he got sweat in his eyes that’s why
Well, you have to know that even with music sheets he'd have to find the right places with his fingers out of intuition, so playing with the eyes closed is not really something hard. Playing by heart is tho.
@@corinnasixt7599 I think he did both of that perfectly
@@corinnasixt7599 Yeah, plus, playing the violin requires muscle memory, so it's not really hard to not look at the fingerboard while playing
I was just wondering if his violin would suffer if some sweat dropped on it while playing with that much passion haha
I perform violin regularly as well (not bad but much worse than ray obviously) and often get compliments for emotion (ie closed eyes)… what it actually is- I’m so nervous I close my eyes to not see the crowd lmao
He plays with virtuosity and precision while also being really musical. I really enjoy his playing.
His fingers look ridiculously long
Especially pinky finger 😂
I find the same as with musicians that play other instruments. Their fingers are like.... Long... Every finger 😉
Itzhak Perlman's hands are huge. I don't think he even has to put effort into shifting into the 4th and 5th positions, he's already there.
@@carolmarie5105 .
This adds extra advantage when they need to stretch to reach higher range. It’s just like being extra tall to play basket ball

7:51 till 8:34 - The most difficult moment for Ray Chen and Malta philharmonic. But they did a great job 👏
yeah im learning this piece and the amount of bow control you need to keep up is just crazy lol
i was thinking like "he really looks like ray chen" and then i learned that he is ray chen.
I find myself returning to the video of this performance over and over again. Ray's performance is really so beautiful and exciting. Spot on.

I can't imagine Yuzu will finally skate to his favorite musical piece and is arranged by his Pianist friend.

@@cke900 yes, was written in his Autobiography book 'Aoi Hono'
It was his fave but thought that he was too young to skate for this Musical Piece. But now he has aged and has an enough arsenal in terms of Program Component and Technical Aspect too, he has the right to skate Rondo Capriccioso 😁
Ray Chen honestly you impress me. Instead of trying to overwrite the author's piece with innovative garbage like most pop music does you perform the piece sublimely in such a way that shows deep emotion, colour to the piece and honour and respect to both the piece as well as the composer with amazing talent! You make the song come alive, we need more Ray Chen!! You're not just a great musician, you're a great guy and a very unique violinist. You have talent and it shows in whatever you do on violin. Great respect to you Ray!

Epic performance. Jaunty, saucy, powerful, romantic, and yet still quicksilver light such precise articulation. Not sure I've heard that combination in ANY other performance. Good grief, it's absurd.
