Real amplification... Went through aguilar, markbass, eden, epifani, Gk, blah blah blah ... All ok or pretty darn good ... but boy do i wish i just bit the bullet and went with a tube ampeg or fender and didn't try to get fancy. This is the bass tone i've always heard in my head... When i ask people what amp i should try they always give me botique brands, or some obscure set up... when i bring up svt or bassman they go " oh yeah those are classic tones... but there's better options, more portable, or this one kinda sounds like that and has more options more this more that blaah blaaaah blaaaaah" as if they are boring or something... What the hell?!?! These are the best sounding bass amps on the planet! When i sell some gear i'm getting an svt, or superbass man like a real bassist... lol! Thanks for the video!
I hope you get another Super Bassman. I really like all your videos featuring the SB. I have a SB and really like it, but thanks for ALL of your videos!
Éric! I’m not a Superbassman owner anymore. Covid lach of gigs. Had to sell some stuff $$$. Retubing is doable buy anyone. Philips screw driver and small long nose pliers. No re-bias needed. The only tricky part are the tube spring holders. It’s a 45mins job or less.
Could you ever A/B a Super Bassman with a Bassman 100T (in a shop, at home)? I would be interested in differences in feel and sound you may have noticed. Thanks!
I’ve own both at the same time and gig with both as well. They are very, very close. Yes the SB has more power, but tone wise….my ears can’t tell. (Sry I will probably not be able to A/B ‘em. )
@@jochoui So, if *you* cannot really tell them apart even after rehearsal/practice AND gigging w/both of them then we can pretty safely assume the actually sound near-identical. Thanks! (I just cannot make myself shlepp a SuperB...) And yes, I know, A/B-ing 2 all-tube amps for real requires 2 identical cabs, a big, reasonably dampened, symmetrical room etc. pp.
I don’t really understand you question. Close to the tone of what? THE TONE? Haha The only amp/preamp that is close to a SB is the Demeter stuf. (VTBP-M-800)preamp with 2 tubes.
Hi Todd! Yes I had the bassman 800. Not even close! I sold it right away. There's a lot of overheating issues with those models. Yes the Super Bassman worth it! I always have the same dilema every time I go to a gig but....the tone is in the weight of the tranformers! I am always rewarded for my efforts! Big money, big weight, big tone.
Awesome... That's what I was looking for to finalize my decision. Curious, do you that Rumble 210 better than the Bassman 115? Thanks making your videos... I've watched many times on my decisioning for new gear. I was thing SB head, Bassman 115 for portability, Bassman 610 for my gigs which is a dance band on the louder side. Would you make any changes to that or throw in a Bassman 410 instead somewhere in the mix?
Yeah the neo115 is awesome for portability and sound great. The 610 is by far, the best cab I had but not funny To carry around, even if it's "light". I now run with a 115 and 210 but would consider a 410.
big ups to jamming with that Kruangbin track 👌
Khruangbin, P bass and fender rig = ❤️
You’re one of the only bass players on UA-cam who doesn’t have the treble maxed out. Nice tone.

i would suggest an ambeg b15 and an acoustic 200 and a CMI Lead Bass 50 and a bassman 100

Haha! Thanks! Unfortunately SB is gone and I made myself a Bassman 135. Lighter and smaller with the same tone!
@@jochoui I looked it up on your site...nice. Is that a Aguilar 410 cab?
@@limegreenthecolor yes! I have the 410 and 210 both 4ohms. Amazing cabinets.
@@jochoui Awesome!
Hi, love the amps, have a Super Bassman myself, could you in the future do a vid on retubing the amp itself, I would love to see that, if you can.

Love your tone! What size is the cabinet.
It’s a cab I made 26 Inches wide (made from a rumble 2x10 parts) to fit the 115 and 410 pro neo. The 410 pro neo was way better…..lol
@@jochoui Thanks!
How loud was you set up?was it bedroom friendly? Trying to decide this or a swr black beauty amp.
@@dezmonseth674 It was more small gig/rehearsal volume. The fan is a bit annoying for bedroom setup. But even at low volume, the SB is awesome!
How exactly did you butcher the squire? love the tone
Yeah! This bass is awesome for the buck! I just removed the jazz pickup and did a, not so impressive preparation/paint job:)
IYO, is it possible to get even close to the tone w/o a SB 300?

Out of curiosity, what did you have to do to move the handles to the side?
The new Superbassman come's stock with handles on the side.
jo choui Sorry, for the 210, not the head. Aren’t they normally vertical standing?
It’s a rumble 210?
Ho yeah, I made this cabinet to fit the pro neo serie. 26" wide. But with rumble pieces.
@@jochoui Ah, I didn't realize the Super and neo cabs were that much wider than the 500/800 and Rumble series cabs.
Why not use the neo 410 cab?
Do you find the Super Bassman tone worth the weight of carrying it around? Had you tried the Bassman 800?

@@jochoui Didn't you have a black SB earlier?
What year is the super Bassman?
2016. I did the blond/oxblood covering myself if it’s what you are wondering. ;)
I did not like the edges (unglue) so it turn out Tweed later on.
Thanks for the response
