We did an oak framed barn, stripped the boarding off and started underpinning propping the frame as we went , turned up one day after a god awful storm to find a pile of sticks scattered around , was now a rebuild but made the groundwork’s a hell of a lot easier. Was still classed as a barn convertible 😀
Yeah we didn't want a pile of metal scattered around that may have ended up on top of us. By the time I took down the brick and blocks one corner of the frame was just flapping about. I'm still going to class it as a barn conversion, even if the authorities don't 😁
100% agree with the last comment, its still a Barn conversion, once the frame is back up itll be exactly the same starting point, only nobody has been injured or worse and you have saved yourself a lump of cash.

Still looks like a barn conversion to me. Youre keeping to the exact same plans, its not gonna look any different. Just going about it in a different way. The end product will be a flashy barn style building. Can see the stress on your face mate, i reckon going through that massive book is hard work.

Hello mate! I'm having a week off as the weather is beating me. How are you? How's your barn coming along? It was worth it for me, spent £170 and saved 40k! It's very comprehensive and abit complicated as you'd need to make adjustments for your area. It would be handy to work out your budget in advance but that's if you know everything you need to account for. I initially got it as I was trying to find a contractor to shell the barn and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get knocked. I suppose it all depends on how you are going about your build and whether you're subcontracting everything out or not
You can get a 2016 copy on eBay for £10, the prices shouldn't be too far off and you could always ask me to check mine for specific comparisons
Wouldn’t worry about what label you put on it, the trust of it is the same.
You are still converting a barn at the end of the day, you started with an old barn and you’ll finish with a house that’s in the model of the old barn. You’re talking about the difference of a few original thermalite blocks and some concrete! I hardly think that makes a difference.
The only thing I would say is you might find UA-cam latches onto the self build tags more than a barn conversion. So it might be worth using it in the tags.

Keep the blog as a barn conversion. As you said, you’re still using the frame. You’ve just moved it out of the way for health and safety reasons.
