Nicole is the best automotive journalist ever. She has the perfect combination of conversational skills, driving skills and automotive knowledge.
Thank you..that's very nice. Glad you're enjoying our channel! (I'm not a journalist...just love what I do!)
@@NicoleJohnsonsDetour It's obvious that you love it. That's what makes it so good to watch
Your 2 years younger than me, knowing that, and your career, I'm thoroughly impressed. Monster truck, rock crawling and other motor sports. Very impressed. I will say the thing I'm most impressed with is your mom with 2 kids and a degree from byu. Which says a ton. It's amazing that you grew up in so cal and stayed good and clean get your education and then be in motor sports for a living where staying clean is very difficult. Ctr. Your a stud. I love what you do and how good you are!!! Great example to all of us. Idaho here.
Thank you so much for your very kind words. You just made my day!! I sincerely appreciate it!
@@NicoleJohnsonsDetour you earn it every time you make a new show. Your just awesome. Thankyou for being so good❤❤
Jason is probably the nicest badass I've ever watched kick ass race after race. Great video!
Couldn't agree more!! Thank you for watching!
He is getting all philosophical and you say "Do these glasses make me look like a nerd?", deep, Nichole. You are a very aggressive driver, no matter what vehicle. Hop in, floor it and drive it great. The best channel.
Haha!! Glad you're enjoying! Thank you for watching!
He also said that she looks like a Librarian & with the Head Spinning the Hair Move, Nicole reminds me of anther You Tuber in Florida, that has the same signature moves! Maybe SOL could fill-in for her when Nicole wants some "me time"? & SOL ALWAYS Wants to be the one doing the Driving also!
At about 15:36 Jason tells Nicole that she can cruise some more or do whatever she wants. A few seconds later he says,ok, that's 80 MPH. OMG, gotta love it. Even though Nicole's knowledge and driving skills are phenomenal, her personality and enthusiasm keep me coming back for more and more of her video's. And I have to compliment her whole production crew for the super professional videos. I know that a quality 30 minute video like this is the result of a ton of woman/man hours of work. WOW! YES YES YES !
Sorry, that is 15:36 and 15:56
Thank you so much!! Very glad you are enjoying our channel!!
In AWE from Minne-snowta! Never got teared up watching a truck video before but that little talk on the rock really spoke to me. We all need a little encouragement every now and then. And yes, she looks like a nerd with glasses but she is a very attractive nerd none the less! Nice video Nic, looking forward to the next one!
This is such a nice comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed watching and were moved by Jason's story..I found it inspiring as well!! Stay warm there in Minne-snowta! haha.
Watching from Huntly, Waikato, New Zealand, and am beyond impressed by that awesome piece of Fantastic Ford, and your driving ability too.....awesome, AWEsome, AWESOME !!
Thank you very much! Love that you're watching from New Zealand!
Watching from only 4 fences and a horse arena away from Jason and his Bronco and I still learned something new. Great show both of you.
Hey Jeff!!! I never realized you lived so close to Jason! Nice to see you 'round these parts!
Hi Nicole, watched this video from Haarlem in the Netherlands. One of the best videos from your channel. I loved the Rotary Roadster the most because of the similarity with my own Super 7.
Awesome! Thank you! We appreciate you watching..glad you liked it! Hello to you in Haarlem in the Netherlands!!
This was so. Much. Fun. Flying across the desert I think your eyes were wider than I've seen them in any of these videos. This is a serious machine and you're a serious driver. Total badassery.
Yep, it has a lot of power and capability. The last time I raced King of the Hammers in 2010, we were in the car 10 hrs and 47 minutes from start to the finish line, and I think I blinked 6 times. LOL It's about constantly scanning and reading the terrain, and picking a line. My car was never capable of the kind of speeds we could hit in Jason's, which is why I wore my glasses. I knew that terrain would be flying at me and I wanted to see it clearly! Thank you for watching!
Vancouver, BC: Nicole keeps it real without pushing the "S"appeal past eyebrow raising: Smart, professional, and a nice balance of tech, humor and passion: Well done, worth watching !
Thank you!!
The rock sections looked like one heck of a driving workout. I usually love the drone shots on videos like this, but the low camera shots thru the rocks were just amazing. Great job as always, Ms. Johnson.
We really appreciate that!! Glad you enjoyed watching!!
Never say your sorry when he's telling you to drive his machine through those badass boulders! Great video!
Haha..Glad you enjoyed watching..thank you!
Damn you can drive! Its NOT easy getting in someone elses car and going through rocks where you dont know the low points, the width, etc etc, not to mention the desert section. Well done! 👍
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words..much appreciated!
Awesome ridealong! Yes, the glasses make you look like a nerd...in a very cool way. We need more nerds. Heading down to the Hammers for the first time soon, hope to race next year!
Thank you so much. You'll love the Hammers!!
Well done Nicole - another great Vid. Jason is very talented - good choice & well done. Checking in from Melbourne Australia - cheers Craig
Thanks so much! 😊. Jason is the best!! Glad you enjoyed watching from Melbourne..love it!
From Surrey in England. What fab editing of all the cool camera angles. Great shots. So lovely to hear a 351 Windsor! Scenery is outa this world. Great wheeling! Jason is so much more chilled than the vwscoobysnack chap! What a treat, thanks for vid!

I’m pretty sure if there was a Coolest Mom in the World trophy, you’d win it! Excellent video, enjoyed everyone I’ve seen so far, keep it up! Watching from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. I gotta say, I love that machine!

Or just use the traffic jam for traction...
Always look forward to your new videos. Great to see sports we don’t see in Ireland and the cool specialist cars
How nice..thank you so much for watching us from Ireland. Glad you're enjoying!
Love to hear where on earth you are watching from! It’s mind blowing how far the reach is on UA-cam, but the world feels small when I picture where it is you are! Hello from Nevada!
Your right, the world feels small looking on a map, but wow it really stretches far and fast when your driving 😉, you are a damn good racer, but how are you on fast Ducati’s on track. He he 🤗
Hi Nicole from sunny South Africa!
Philippines 😍
The shape, color, paint scheme, performance, everything about this truck. I absolutely love it!
Nicole's your driving is impressive. Love the videos. Keep up the good work.

Loved the part when you guys parked on top of that rock and just talked. Life lessons there and a unique point of view. Great show.
Glad you enjoyed it..and thank you so much for watching!
I enjoyed that part. The depth and mood was amazing and it was inspiring.
@@mattfinch3281 Get one, paint it up yellow and with its capabilities, you can just step on the throttle and be at the wreck sites before they even happen, hook on a long Yankum and take your run in the direction of where you want the disabled rig to end up, hit it once and sling shot it there and you can stay on site, able to sooner go on to the next customer ... oops, wrong Matt ...
@@spiritcallsus I’m not that matt. I really do need to change my channel name. 😅
Nicole, you are definitely one cool chick. You spend your life having fun and getting paid for it. And…so down to earth
Speaking as a ex-race mechanic that went to the Baja 1000, 2 times, most people have no idea how grueling it is. I have the upmost respect for these drivers and their skills, as well as, machinery.

Great video, shows your talent when your driving impresses someone who has won king of the hammers 3 times, need that truck we have some very high sidewalks that I have to park on here in Aberystwyth, Wales, uk, keep making these great videos.
Haha..I see why you would need this truck..must really be some high sidewalks there in Aberystwyth, Wales. Glad you enjoyed watching..thank you!
What a unbelievable hybrid of a vehicle/sport. Absolute hauling over the deserts then savage rock crawling her and there. I thought that was awesome that he kept saying go faster, the footage and sounds are a racers dream. Love your signature move 🤘🏼Many thanks from Alberta’s Rocky Mountains.
So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching from Alberta's Rocky Mountains!
Wow that’s awesome!! You guys have gotten too get back into that!!. ARB lockers are the best.Cheers heaps.

Watching from So Cal. I saw Jason totally shred at the Hammers last weekend. Congrats on the podium finish Jason. I have some sweet video of you coming through Cougar Buttes and the car looked awesome. Great video Nicole, that's a dream day right there.
Sherer seems like such a solid dude. No arrogance at all and he’s at the top of the heap.
Yes exactly!! Thanks for watching!
isn't arrogance a feature of people with no achievement? it's defensive. no need for it anymore once you've established some success.

Tuning in from Chicago, IL. I never had much interest in Formula 1 or NASCAR, but I had no idea there were so many different kinds of motor sports. It's awesome to learn about them from someone who doesn't just stand there with a mic and camera and talks about it, but who gets behind the wheel, takes us along for the ride and shows us what it's all about.
Hello to you in Chicago! Thank you for watching and for the nice review..really appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed!
Somehow, wearing glasses with a helmet and fire suit just can't make you look nerdy, no matter who it is. But with you, it just makes you look more intense and focused. Watching you drive through the course was a lot of fun and brought back memories of my youth running around dirt roads here in Michigan, from hard pack gravel in the south to sand trails in the north and the dunes on lake Michigan in the west. Watching your detour is fast becoming my favorite past time. You are becoming one of my top five channels to watch. Can't wait to see what you try out next!
What a nice comment!! Thank you so much ..we're glad you enjoy our channel!!

Awesome! Thank you so much for watching from Suffolk..glad you enjoyed it!
There's a sweet spot where speed and trail vibration meet, basically resonance. If the builder gets it just right, his insane creation will cross that gnarly terrain faster and smoother than anyone else. It takes massive concentration and an eye for detail, too build and pilot one of these purpose built trucks.
I used to watch/follow you in WEROCK, the Monsters, ...you have always been a premier talent.
In a wet Arizona WEROCK with your spotter throwing rocks at the buggy to grab your attention...priceless fun.
HAHA!! Yes, that was my husband hucking rocks at my buggy! I totally remember that! Too funny!!! Thank you so much for following me all these years. It means a lot to me when I hear about people that recall the early days where it all began!
I love this vehicle! The armor on the rear axle is very cool. The heat wrap on the manifolds looks cool. Jason did such a good job coaching and encouraging you.
Checking in from the sticks of Ohio. I absolutely *love* the opening, Jason had total confidence in the machine and Nicole's ability to drive it and just wanted to go go go go!!!

Hi to you in France! Thanks so much for watching..happy you enjoyed it!
Awesome! Great interview, great excitement from you. I wish people knew how much goes into these videos. Nice to see a longer video, very cool!!😎
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, we do put a lot into it. There's travel, then a full day of shooting, and over 140 hours of post production work with editing, color grading, audio mixing, captions, writing descriptions and making the thumbnail image. So far it's all on our own dime with no sponsors. The longer episode is a risk, as we hope people will stay engaged. I appreciate that you watched and commented!
This series of shows is way better than others I've seen. More down to earth and not full of stupid shenanigans

That suspension articulation is amazing to watch and then you realise that throughout the full range of travel, the drive is still being transmitted to the wheels at massive torque. Spectacular to watch, especially over the rocks, not even defeated when it has bellied out on a huge boulder. I found myself whistling through my teeth watching you drive through the technical sections 😳
Well done to you and great encouragement from your new passenger
