That 49 ford is such an awesome rig. Watched him whoop everyone at a race up in Idaho. Multiple laps ahead during qualifying and then packed up and left before the race so he could watch his daughters soccer game. Such a flex
This ain't no chasing dust. This is next level work that does an amazing job at showcasing what the King Of The Hammers is all about. The Heavy Metal Concepts team has been on the lakebed every year almost since the very very beginning and is just as much a part of the evolution of this race as the cars, drivers and teams that compete. Incredible work! 👏👏👏
I love the long look at the changes and how frequently and quickly they occur. But I would love it more to see episodes in this series more frequently! Keep up the great work, team!
Shannon Campbell’s design is so sick. I remember when he debuted that IFS and people thought he was crazy. Well he kinda is, I think. In a good way. Ha ha!! I was at the Parker 425 long about the time he debuted the vehicle when some of his crew members showed up where we were. Shannon came over the radio saying he had a flat so the crew was trying to figure out where to stop him to fix the flat. He told them he wasn’t stopping. We were at a dirt to asphalt transition. The race official said he wouldn’t allow them to drive on asphalt with no tire. So the official turned him around, cut the course to avoid asphalt and added 1.5 minutes to his time too account for the portion of the course he was allowed to cut. He finished the race on 3 tires and what was eventually just a dilapidated rim/brake rotor.
Love this video. I struggled with the solid axle vs ifs question for years…. I am currently building and trussing my front axle now. Double triangle coming soon.
Nicely done Will & team, killer contrast and comparison and great way explaining how quickly the sport has progressed. Killer story, nicely shot and assembled... keep up the great work!
Wow x1000 absolutely stunning video. I just thought your winter wheeling video with Harry was epic this one 2 stepped it. Such good content even from way back I am watching it for the second today🎉😎👏👏
I have not been following Ultra4 for long. I understand the last two races the rock sections have become even more challenging. So it surprises me the focus on speed for the desert sections. But yet the winner "Gomez" after race interview clearly stated his car was gear for a top speed of 88mph. With an objective to increase that top speed how is that compromising durability? Goes to show average speed should be the focus. Yes, a great video.
One line of thinking goes: it doesn't matter how fast your car is in the rocks if you're stuck in a traffic jam. Everyone has different strategies which is one of my favorite aspects of this sport.
@@tiny_the_200 theres a bit of a dive on it in the video feature we did on it on the Nitto Tire UA-cam, pretty recently went up. That is where some of the shots of it in this video came from.
Imagine that, if you throw a ton of money and tech at a race vehicle it gets better. Next they'll complain that 'money' has ruined the event as the entries drop over time.

agreed, one of my favorites at the Hammers.
Having that narrator to me added so much production value to this video. Awesome stuff
Really ties it all together. Thanks!
Fantastic video. I’m always so impressed by the fact that you can frame amazing shots and then elevate them with a well written and compelling story.
thank you!

Thank you for making such an incredible video for our viewing pleasure. Easily one of the best things I have watched in a long time!!

thank you, and love your product!
Awesome video! The “ORIGINS” series is the best documentary and way to show anyone what Ultra4 is all about. Keep up the great work! 👊
This video is strait 🔥🔥 2:52 Dynatrac axle taking a beating! Love it!

Such an awesome video! Coming out just a little bit before Hammers '23, gets me super excited to hit the lake bed 😎
Amazing video! Next level editing as always 👊🏽 🤯
8:47 I could just put that engine sound on a loop and use it to go to sleep like ASMR 🤣
i feel that
I watched my 1st KOH last year, it totally blew me away. I can't wait to watch this year
I like Dave Cole's explanation of solid axle vs. IFS. And once again, an incredible video. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If I could have liked this video a 100 times I would have. I wish that the annual DVDs were still a thing.
We need more of this!
What an awesome video. Wish I could experience this, must be absolutely incredible to witness this race in person.
come on out in 2 weeks to southern california, 2023 event happens then!
Now I'm terrified and excited at the same time! 😃
You are one of the best Will. Nice work.

IFS with portals and big tires must give you a lot of ground clearance
Why is there no modern off road racing video games for this stuff
There is. Check out Beam.ng Drive. It even has a Johnson Valley map and rock racers to drive.
SOLID AXLE!!! This vid was epic
Did this film maker make the Tigers Cat Logging films. Very similar. Awesome.
Not me on that one
Great video.
Rip Mark.
Amazing as always!!!!
To Will Gentile, Optima Batteries, and Heavy Metal Concepts … Freakn THANK YOU !!!!!! Wow!
Epic video 👌
Amazing video! You guys are always killin'g it 💯🔥
Insane video, love it!
And still there is the " any man" class that allows you to race any car that passes safety requirements.
Masterpiece! Fawesome!
Great series. Hopefully that wasn’t the last one in the origins series?
Hopefully not!
Were the first two from 5 years ago? Excellent video 🤙🏽 Hope to see more KOH content again soon 👌🏼
@@tiny_the_200 yes episode 1 launched on Jan 1st 2018
@@HeavyMetalConcepts would love see a deep dive on that updated Horschel rig and it’s twin 🤓

:golfclap: Mr Gentile Well done sir.
Ultra 4 is the MMA of auto sports. The shit is violent.
this video had to be sponsored by optima lol great video tho!
Props to them for providing the means to make it!
The production value on this video is extremely high.
appreciate that John. Also thanks again for donating your time for the start of this series
Erik who?
this is a classic reference
Gomez was going to win two years ago in an ifs car until it fell apart going down back door... cost him the race.
Solid axle all day
But did he not win last year in a IFS/IRS car?
@dhrracer different brother i think
Uauu
Brought to you by optima batteries 😂
That's right

Who's better than you
All those buggies are hammers.
yang kesini karena bang Jeje 😐
Technicially the Ultra4 is not a car. By definition a car is an automobile used on ordinary roads or a vehicle on rails such as a train car.
Racecar has entered the chat
@@HeavyMetalConcepts we technically found the guy that technically has no idea what he's technically taking about... Technically speaking of course.
Interviews were great. Annoying naration and slowmos, not so much.
That’s one heck of a party to go to! I did 4 different girls in one night! Creampied all of them told them the wrong name 😂😂😂
Amazing video as usual!
Great video!!
