I've put this through it's paces. And the hollow grind allows it to just slice and slice. I was sliding through construction grade thermo ply like butter, that's the Ultimate test when I get new knives. Alot of them struggle with the thermoply
Thank YOU Matt. Such a great design! Was it your idea to swedge this blade, or did Kizer mention it first? I don't remember seeing a swedge on the first design drawing.
@@SteveKluver I really don't remember who decided to put a swedge on it. I always put them on the customs I made. And you're right, the first drawing didn't have the swedge, but the first rendering did.
Thank you, @@mattdegnan2989. I'm a fan of the larger version. I have the Ti version, which must be around 5 years old now, and always in my rotation. I also have two Vanguard G10 colors, and the green micarta version from Mojave Outdoor Gear. I love the new pocket clip on the micarta version, and of course love the roach on it! It would be my vote, that if you and Kizer decide to put a hole in the blade of the larger one later (which I think is a good flicken idea:). I would rather *not* have a swedge on the larger one. A perfect new full-sized Roach for me? Natural micarta, satin or stonewashed blade, a deep carry roach engraved clip, and no sign of a flipper tab. Not even an option. Then maybe pull the plunge grind back some. Gaining some additional cutting edge length, since it is now without a flipper tab at all. What do you think?
@@SteveKluver All good suggestions! Thanks. I'm hoping to do some more variations in the future. I honestly never knew the Roach was so popular until the mini started landing in pockets.
Great little knife! I got this on a whim and it's one of my favorite little big knives in my collection. When choking up on the choil, it fits my XL hand like a glove.
It's the miniaturization of the American way I tell you! 🤗 Thanks LTK. I'm sure glad you caught that removable flipper tab too. I had seen this knife earlier, but I thought there were two different models. One with, and one without the flipper. I think they missed the mark with this one, by not including the roach engraving. That was always cool. I have to wonder, if Matt Degnan was asked if they could, or did he ask to add a swedge to this blade? 🤔 A funny/fun side story. I watched this video in my shop this evening. Once this video was done playing, UA-cam auto-play must have been turned on, and they selected and automatically started playing a next video. Guess which one they picked? Your original Roach video, from about 5 years ago! From back when you had a pass-a-round group, and Kizer ruled the knife world. You talked about how you and I switched backspacers on the Vanguard model, and how we bought the G10 model on the Vipon App for $40! The Kizer Mjolnir made a cameo appearance in that video too. Such great knives. 👍 🔪 🍀 😎
Nice presentation 👍🏻 I have a question and it's bizarre. It seem that you don't have any jimping on your Mini Roach. I received mine yesterday with jimping😱 Maybe they just upgraded
yeah $75 is really pushing the price line. There is a lot of competition in that range, including the S35VN Civivi Elementum. It is aesthetically a cool design though.
Love your videos! BTW, I have the black one. With my rather thin, medium hands, it's two nice grips for me. Yes, it is small but nimble. Could you recommend a way to remove some G-10 under the pocket clip contact spot?

Did you test the Pintail as well?
Love it with the flipper tab removed, much better ergos
As did I. Easy spyder flick and less bulk in the pocket.
Great video! Thanks for the support 🪳

Probably has been revised. That’s my guess.
I like this one Lee

75+10% off and I have one. The hollow grind is amazing on this knife, the knife blade smokes the elementum
Nice knife, but they went just a little too small for me. I like the new roach styling, but I need it bigger

I'm looking at this mini-Roach vs Civivi Chiro (similar shape). You've reviewed both. Which do you prefer?
I would like to see a roach xl
I wanted to see how you liked it minus the flipper. Lol
I did too, Harry!
What's wrong with him?
: - )
Will there be an XL version coming?
Good question
