Japanese hiphop from the 90s is the coolest thing ever. Japanese is not as easy to rhyme as English, and we don't have a rhyming culture. Furthermore, people doing HipHop in Japan had the image that it was just an imitation of America, and a lame one at that. They thought it was a clone of America and that the real thing was cooler. This was a generation that did not pay attention to such criticism and stuck to what they thought was cool. Because of them, HIPHOP took root in Japan. Especially in the 90's, there were many questions about how to reproduce overseas RAP in Japanese. It was a time when people were trying to figure out what kind of HipHop would suit Japan. It's imperfect, and yet it has its own Japanese quirks, which is really great.

@@claudiaficicchia446 I was hesitant to write this, because there is nothing but good vibes in these comments... but Nujabes is nothing special and fairly boring in terms of Japanese artists; songs like Luv(sic) have a bit of bounce to them, but people who listen to, "Japanese music," (ie: friendly for non-Japanese speakers, of which I am too so I'm not discriminating) like him for, "the mood he sets." People talk about how he's this, "Lo-Fi Master," which is almost depressing and again, boring.
If you want actual great JAPANESE rap, where they rap about things that were important to their lifestyle and the country around them (and in their language, which even spit with anger/protest, still is a beautiful language), anyone on this playlist is great, King Giddra is excellent, basically aim for the kings of the 90s: they all worked together, they all were friends and they all tried their own style of things... and when they came together for something collaborative (like Shogen, the second track on this video), well, just listen to it: it's arguably the best Japanese rap song ever.
Vogio anche dire, a me piace Gente Guasta moltissimo, specialmente, "Lotta Armata," e quella canzone ha una melodia molto giapponese ;)
