Good mix and yes this is what Real Japanese Hip Hop supposed to sound like, not that crap VICE showed in their doc. Japan went through the same golden age in Hip Hop just like America in the 90s and slowly fizzled in the 2000s.
That VICE documentary was offensive. It makes everyone thinks Japanese hip-hop is KOHH, AKLO, SALU...that's it. Even worse, it makes people think that Japanese rap is biting off of K-Pop....it's nothing but a big joke.
Korean here grew up in the U.S. in L.A. , N.Y. making beats and DJing. Been part of the culture since 93 or so. I ALWAYS knew Japan was down with hip hop since the getgo. And Japan unlike Korea had a golden era of hiphop just like here in the States. At the time when there were not many Asian hip hop, I was always checking stuff from Japan. Japan also played a huge role in how hiphop sounds. Technics, MPCs etc.
@@femboiuwu Seo Taiji is not really considered “hip hop” by many people in the culture. Heck he actually came from a heavy metal band before forming the group. I am not trying to undermine his influence in korean pop music and his legacy. I am strictly speaking in terms of hip hop culture. Not people who just rap. The whole culture of DJing, BBoying, MCing and Graffitti etc. The Japanese adopted hip hop waaaaay before Koreans had a real hip hop album. Korea’s first real hip hop album was largely accepted as having dropped around 1998, with Drunken Tiger’s debut. Prior to that, there were NO, zero albums that had rap from beginning to end. It was one of, if not the first album with purely rapping. Hell, prior to Drunken Tiger, rappers did not even used to rhyme!!! They very much emphasized how important that is in rapping there. Shout out to Tiger JK for really working hard through difficulties trying to set up the culture in South Korea! Japan had hip hop albums dating back even in the mid 80s. Almost a decade before Korea had a legitimate rap song. In that region of the globe, Japan and the Phillipines adopted hip hop before anyone else. This is just facts. That being said, Seo Taiji has amazing albums during his pop days. He is truly a musician who can hop between genres no problem!
@@timsohn7057 damn, you're very knowledgable! very interesting stuff, thank you for sharing. i actually like seo taiji's more metal stuff a little more, but yeah he does amazing job in any genre he's experimenting with. :3 and yeah on subject i guess it indeed was stoopid to bring him up, but thanks for clarifying. im not too knowledgable on hip-hop

You don't need to know the language to appreciate this. Yes, lyrics are very important in rap music. But in this mix and other foreign language hip hop productions you can find out how the most important element in a rap song is the voice totally melting with the beat. In rap, voice is the main instrument, regardless of the content of the words. This mix is amazing. Every Japanese rapper seems to use a very different pitch and flow, you never get bored here. I really appreciate this.
Yooooo its back thooo 😢😢😢. Definitely missed this mix for good while ljke 2 years i swear. But that other one i wish they re-upload by now. Either way, glad this is back 💯💯💯

ok...i digs this shit right here..you know real hip hop when you hear it, its from the soul, dont have to understand the language

i think the major innovations with the MPC line originally lie with Roger Linn, akai just knew the right guy to hire....
People listen to "trap music" but there are a lot of undiscovered classic Japanese hiphop on youtube
Regardless of language barrier, these MCs probably spittin' facts.
