For those wondering, the sneakers are inspired by the Converse erx 260 hi on the left, the Reebok Blacktop Battleground in the middle, and the right is some sort of LA Gear or Nike. None of them are 100 percent accurate but you can definitely make out some of the inspiration. I'm a major sneakerhead and have quite a few pairs of super high top shoes that I like to satirically call my space boots lol.
I say all of that because I’d have never known. But now I’m looking. The high top Gen. When I was a kid lol. I have a old cars from my generation. Be cool to have a set of shoes from then. My 89 CRX still exists. Cuz ain’t nothing like the old school.

I was born in 1997 and didn't had any knowledge of hip hop until 2007, I really started loving it and stuck with it. Im glad I stuck with Hiphop. Its not like I don't like other genre, its just that hip hop has that emotion, feel, storytelling that cannot be found anywhere else.

They have that same "cool anger" feel I always felt listening to old skool tracks. Notice how old school rap just fits in with these beats better than the new rappers' remixes? Bless you, my dude!

I have to say Wu Tang Clan has the best collection of lofi beats. The entire Enter the 36 Chambers album has lofi quality do to RZA mixing it on cheap equipment in a small studio space that he carved out in his basement. Wu Tang America Saga touches on it.

The most fucked up thing about these remixes is that most of the producers that created the 'lo-fi' sound were actually active around the same time but a Easy E, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, etc. wouldn't work with them, because this style of beats wasn't considered 'commercial' enough. Sampled-based jazzy shit wasn't considered 'street' or 'club' enough. Nas' first album, Mobb Deep's second album, and the Jay-Z/Premo collabs being notable exceptions.
i THINK it grew into the puff daddy "sample the catchy hook of a pop song and it's just as catchy as a pop song" style of sampling, which essentially took jazz rap out of the mainstream. was born in 1998 so i wasn't there, but i AM a massive nerd.
@@sussvarman Nah...I was there. Hip-hop that sampled jazz was never really mainstream. It was a little corner of hip-hop. The biggest jazz sampled songs could barely peak Gold (500,000 units sold in US), where stuff like Death Row/Bad Boy were moving millions of units each month snd all over the radio and TV. Those were the dominate sounds of the day, like so much is Trap these days. Think about it....Dilla had already started making classics (ATCQ, De La Soul, Pharcyde, etc.) when Biggie and 2Pac were still ALIVE.
@@coolo73 Snoop, etc borrowed heavily from Parliament and other funk acts. I mean, they called it g-funk, after all. East-coast types were more jazzy and def are my preference, but there’s some West-coast stuff that’s for sure timeless. I think where hip-hop really went wrong was with Master P, Puffy and all those other dudes rapping about Gucci and Cristal and saying absolutely nothing. But that’s a whole other conversation, I guess, LOL.

All the shit shown on social media, music, etc, they’ll take dead seriously. I’ve seen it first hand too many times to count and it’s terrifying and disgusting. Hey it’s not some people’s fault they don’t know better - they don’t have the capability in the first place - but if nothing and no one is there to teach them right the first time, they’ll never know and there will never be hope for them. And I would go as far as to say it’s 70% of society, of the kids coming up next (if not more as tech becomes easier and easier to access at younger and younger ages...)

The most fucked up thing about these remixes is that most of the producers that created the 'lo-fi' sound were actually active around the same time but a Easy E, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, etc. wouldn't work with them, because this style of beats wasn't considered 'commercial' enough. Sampled-based jazzy shit wasn't considered 'street' or 'club' enough. Nas' first album, Mobb Deep's second album, and the Jay-Z/Premo collabs being notable exceptions.

i THINK it grew into the puff daddy "sample the catchy hook of a pop song and it's just as catchy as a pop song" style of sampling, which essentially took jazz rap out of the mainstream.

@@sussvarman Nah...I was there. Hip-hop that sampled jazz was never really mainstream. It was a little corner of hip-hop. The biggest jazz sampled songs could barely peak Gold (500,000 units sold in US), where stuff like Death Row/Bad Boy were moving millions of units each month snd all over the radio and TV. Those were the dominate sounds of the day, like so much is Trap these days. Think about it....Dilla had already started making classics (ATCQ, De La Soul, Pharcyde, etc.) when Biggie and 2Pac were still ALIVE.
@@coolo73 Snoop, etc borrowed heavily from Parliament and other funk acts. I mean, they called it g-funk, after all. East-coast types were more jazzy and def are my preference, but there’s some West-coast stuff that’s for sure timeless. I think where hip-hop really went wrong was with Master P, Puffy and all those other dudes rapping about Gucci and Cristal and saying absolutely nothing. But that’s a whole other conversation, I guess, LOL.
