Growing up, my chores including mowing the lawn with my Dad's McLane... Now I can't wait to get my own home so I can get a McLane and have the nicest lawn on the block! Great video Koven.
I came close but used the extra money on a full front yard renovation. As it happens, I bought a second McLane this spring, it has stock front roller and rear "drum" drive. 👌
Watching this made me feel like I was reading a Stephen King novel. A bunch of neighbours in a nice Americana suburb, all suffering from 'Obsessive Compulsive Lawn Disorder'. They slowly start killing each other off because one has a nicer lawn than the next guy. Nice lawn though, I'll give ya' that. "Honey? WTF are you doing out there with a ruler?"
Did you raise the rear axle? Because on my McLane on the lowest notch I can’t get below .75” unless I raise the rear axle.the instructions are terrible and there is nothing on how to do it.
They are terrible. The height adjustment lever (in the front) will need to be adjusted. It's the lever you grasp with your hand and pull or push to do a quick adjustment in one of the four notches. To get below .75 (they list it as 7/8), you need to change the front and maybe the back, depending where the back is currently set. On the topmost hole on the adjusting lever, there is single nut/bolt. Just below this is a vacant hole. Unscrew the nut, slide it out of the top hole, and in the hole just below it. Replace the nut. This is the lowest height setting, so check your rear axle and make sure it's set in the top holes.
Koven Carlson yes they are horrendous. I have the front adjusted to go to the lowest which you are right is 7/8 inch. The rear axle is shipped in the middle position. I have no idea and there are no instructions on how to raise up the rear axle. I can’t find any videos on it either.
That little Sunjoe is awesome! I was gonna suggest maybe duct tape it to a stick so you don’t have to strain your back 😁, turns out they actually have one with a handle 👍🏼
@@deathlikereviews6648 any used Mclane in good condition is ~$300 give or take. I may pay more or demand less depending on it's condition. If you find one, hit me up and I'll give you my 2 cents.
My normal plan in the fall is 1/4 lbs of Nitrogen per 1,000sqft every week. Last year I used Urea, this yeah I've used that, Ammonium Sulfate, BiofloraChar, Scott's Green Max, what ever I've laying around. Important part is just remembering! ;)
Koven Carlson ok, thanks, you’ve got a great looking lawn. Great example for the neighborhood. Those McClane mowers are great, I’m considering getting one.
@@ko6128 Why thank you! You'll like the Mclane, it's a solid machine. I'd say about half of Mclane owners (in our lawn community) end up upgrading to a true commercial greens mower. Used Mclane is a GREAT start and/or permanent machine.
Koven Carlson I saw you did that also. It was nice to see the results of different seed. But what do I do? Put seed on existing lawn or scrap lawn and put new seed?
@@youme77324 either can work, many other ways too. To maximize results I'd kill everything with Roundup, till everything up, level and take out any debris, then put new seed on that.

Hmmm...that mazama has me very intrigued...might have to find a place to try it
It's amazing man, you will be impressed.
Lookin reel sharp bro!
Have you replaced those caster wheels with a roller? Would be nice to see your thoughts this new grass cutting season.

I saw that one as well! Figured this is $20 less and have more control and agility. It's a decent alternative to the rotary scissor head 💸!
Artificial Turfs? Good looking lawn. So good looking It looks artificial Turfs.
Thank you very much! That's the goal my man!
I too enjoy a good mow bare footed!
💯 Feels so nice!
Looks beautiful man!
Thanks Brett! She's getting there. 💦
Lookin dang good!!
Thanks Baws!
Looking great! How are you doing with all this rain lately?
Thanks Dennis! On man, it's been great for the lawn, but terrible for my second hell strip Reno!
I am also in St.Louis and looking to get into reel mowing with a power mower, where do I start?
Kill your entire lawn, till it up, level it, seed it, enjoy! ;)
@Koven Carlson did that last fall, what is a good price for a McLane greensmower

Can I go that low with Bermuda in Las Vegas?
Sir are you applying tnex to regulate the top growth??? Beautiful lawn
I haven't yet, I plan on starting it in a week or so. Thank you!
How do you like the McLane Reel Mower? Close to buying one.
Great beginner machine for ~$300. Expect to upgrade in 2+ years.
There is nothing like cutting reel low
Great video thanks for sharing 🙂. Subbed
likewise :)
Bocce ball rocks!
What fertilizer and how often ?

Barefoot cutting = a no no IMO!
Isn't the safest, but it feels so right!
Wear shoes or something when mowing. You can never be too careful regardless
I appreciate the concern. 👌
Koven Carlson np! Your lawn is nice btw! I started reel mowing this year and cutting reel low. I hope it gets thick like this!
