It's a shame they split, but they left us with two brilliant albums and didn't drift into bringing out mediocre crap like so many other bands. For that I am grateful. Thanks for sharing.
AGREE. The verse shortly after I always thought was “you’re the low that I’ve clung to...” (actual lyrics are: you’re the love that I’ve clung to) but I always thought the “low” conveyed the same meaning as “you’re the coldest shoulder to cry upon” Just an amazing song. Love the vocals in this live session.
@@tobytyke76 Thank you. I am well…due in part to beautiful soul touching music like this song. Hope I am reminded to come back to this song again and again… And share in the recognition of the power of music to touch an individual personally and deeply…and also unite us…as those who share in the recognition of a shared experience…a shared humanity… And, for me, it makes it possible to carry on. 🤍
The album version was recorded live, and this is an even better cut if that's possible. The vocal is perfection, and I love Rich Hawley's guitar on this ❤❤
I remember thinking this was one of the most beautiful love songs ever written until I found out it's all about mental and physical abuse in a relationship. It's still one of the most beautiful songs written but for very different reasons!
The Longpigs were a great band and this is their finest work imho. Looking back on it they never became as big as other bands of the 90s possibly because britpop had arrived on the scene a few years before they made it big which is a shame. They certainly had the talent and the songs. Nevertheless, the most interesting bands tend to be those that never quite hit the mainstream. In my eyes they are up there with the best the 90s had to offer which was Suede and the Manics.
I agree. Loved the 90s Indie movement Unfortunately it got swallowed up by Oasis, Blur etc ect. But there were some great bands came out of that period Longpigs being one, along with Bluetones , Ash and Gene amongst others....
I remember leaving this album in my mate's car about 10 years ago. Still upset about that. First 4 tracks are just scintillating. This is a fucking terrific version. Crispin sounds in good voice.
All the songs that I've sung you More often than you know You're the love that I've clung to More often than I've let it show. And I wish you would leave me And I wish you would go And I wish you didn't need me And I wish I didn't love you so. 'Cause I just can't go on So please don't do me wrong No I won't do you harm My love for you goes on and on There's no-one else I want beside you Give me your coldest shoulder to cry upon You're never anywhere I find you You're never anything I rely upon. And I wish you would leave me And I wish you would go And I wish you didn't need me And I wish I didn't know. That I just can't go on So please don't do me wrong No I won't do you harm My love for you goes on and on No I just can't go on So please don't do me wrong No I won't do you harm My love Goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and

I was at primary school with Crispin, Alton Staffordshire. The poshest lad ever and a good mate. lovely, lovely lad. The most unlikely rock star ever.

Such an amazing song. So beautiful, and well crafted. I love the rawness of this version, as well.

Great memories. Love this...
All the songs that I've sung you
More often than you know
You're the love that I've clung to
More often than I've let it show.
And I wish you would leave me
And I wish you would go
And I wish you didn't need me
And I wish I didn't love you so.
'Cause I just can't go on
So please don't do me wrong
No I won't do you harm
My love for you goes on and on
There's no-one else I want beside you
Give me your coldest shoulder to cry upon
You're never anywhere I find you
You're never anything I rely upon.
And I wish you would leave me
And I wish you would go
And I wish you didn't need me
And I wish I didn't know.
That I just can't go on
So please don't do me wrong
No I won't do you harm
My love for you goes on and on
No I just can't go on
So please don't do me wrong
No I won't do you harm
My love
Goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and
