How nice to see you all again!
This time we're taking a fully custom piece for a spin: The mighty Balageur Goliath. The Pennsylvania shop has launched an entertaining and inviting online custom bass and guitar builder, and I got to run free in the dog park of options and build something unlike anything I've played. If you want to get SUPER technical, Joe and his cronies did the actual building.
I'm also getting my first crack at the Darkglass Tone Capsule, the only onboard bass pre made by those Finnish wizards (Spoiler: I came away very impressed!)

This has to be said: Amos has the biggest gig you can imagine, and still likes to give in to his inner bass nerd to give us all great content, well shot and edited …. More people need to find this channel.

Stumbled on your playthrough by chance. I have 2 of the Goliaths in 5 string configs (one built the same finish as yours) and 2 of the Diablo 5's in multiscale.. Some of the best instruments I own and they are tone monsters. Your tones you are getting are almost exactly as mine. I did not go for the preamp built in as I already run the Darkglass pedals on the front end. But yeah super clean and lots of definition. Hands down a great investment and value for people who want options and not be burdened with too much fluff for custom shop experience that is hands down one of the best in the industry.
to me this looks like a great all round bass. Sooo many different tones, i love it!
Hey welcome back bud! I've been hoping to try a Balaguer for a while now but still have yet to run into one in person. In the end I went with Kiesel, and then another Kiesel, and then a third Kiesel. Huh. I might have a type! They come up in conversation a lot as they've got pretty similar business models with the "semi custom" design aspect. I should really make a video for mine already, but my point is, I hope you get a chance to try some out. Honestly I'd be surprised if Jeff wouldn't just send you one lol.
Also while I have you, I must absolutely implore you to just buy a Damnation Audio MBD. You *must* try this friggin thing out, it's fantastic.

bass sounds amazing. the darkglass preamp really comes through 👍
The commentary and playing is great (I am mainly here for that), but I wanted to take a second to point out the editing/graphics. The work being put into this is really hitting the mark for me, the diagrams you put up for the knob settings are fantastic, it is immediately obvious what is going on and how you got that tone, without being distracting. The pacing to the editing is also getting better and better, whether it be a gear review or play-through.
