- In this video I take a look at the DJI Mic and how I intend to use it in my UA-cam and home recording studio. I also compare the sound of the DJI Mic on my voice to my favorite SM7B microphone, and even listen to what it sounds like on acoustic guitar 😀.
👍 Thanks for watching! Please like, comment, & subscribe.

Very helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Maarten, again an interesting video. I would love to see how these compare to the Sabinetec SmartMike+. But we talk shop when we meet again. You gave me a few ideas that I'll share with you. 🙂
Hi Peter, thanks and good idea. We’ll talk 👍.
I'd be curious to hear it with a good lav or something better
I did get a shure lav with this, but I’m not sure 😁 that I actually prefer it.
Hi thanks for the great video! I am wondering how do the dji mic compare to the default mics in a smartphone (I own a galaxy s22 but I'm talking generally if that's possible..) for recording a live instrument. For example your recording of the guitar with the dji mic compared to a recording with your smartphone? Because I'm looking for the best way to conveniently record a piano when I don't have time/possibility to use studio grade condensers.. do you think using the dji mic will be an upgrade to my smartphone mic?
Many thanks and keep on the good work 👏
I showed recording instruments with the dji mix just for fun really. I would never use those recordings for any serious stuff. But for recording something quickly in a rehearsal e.g it could work. But so could a phone recording. I’ve had good results from an iPhone with a Shure mv88 mic, but also with the standard iPhone mic. The DJI mix is really something for the main use-case, (mobile) speech recording. I would never get it for instrument recording
@Lanewood Studios Thanks for your quick reply! I've actually tried the Shure mv88 and although it was better than my phone's mic it wasn't much better and it still meant that my mic needed to be where my cam was.. I was thinking exactly about recording short videos during rehearsals with another instrument (let's say a violin) and thought it could maybe improve the sound from my smartphone without the need to use a studio setup but I don't see anyone doing that on UA-cam so I guess there is a reason for that :))) I'm thinking of buying the dji mic anyways for it's main use case and if I will I will let you know if I noticed an improvement over my phone's mic when recording live instruments. It's just that it would be such a simple solution! If you know of other alternatives such as the Shure I would love to hear about them 🙏 will keep you updated once I get my dji mic (there low on stock here.. )
@@YoavPorat yes just try it. Interested to hear about your results!
@Lanewood Studios OK me again :) I just found out that there is an mv88+ version that comes with a 3 meter usb-c cable so that will be perfect for enabling me to locate my phone and the mic in different locations and there are tons of videos from Shure instructing how to best record live sets so.. went with that instead of the dji mic.. Thanks for the help 🙂
Yes that could work well for you. I liked the initial version of the mv88 since it attaches right to the phone but the mv88+ would indeed be more practical for you. Enjoy the new microphone!
Anyone have any tips on how to use this for musicians with an iPhone? Not being able to hear audio from the phone while using the mic is a huge obstacle that makes it almost useless when trying to record music with it :(
Do you recommend these microphones to take sound to shoot a film? To record the voice of actors on stage.
I don't really have any experience doing sound for film apart from my UA-cam videos ;).But I understand that they usually use a boom mic for the best sound quality or lavalier mics taped to the body under clothing. The DJI mic by itself would probably be too visible, but you could connect a lavalier mic and connect it to the DJI mic in your pocket.
