As a former professor, I particularly enjoy discussions of the entrepreneurial aspects of business, whether new small business or the entrepreneurial strategies of successful companies. Please continue to enlighten all of us with such marvelous interviews with people like the Diplomat CEO and Dante and others! Your video artistry is likely a key to your success. My favorite video still remains the one by the lunch box napkin dad. Perhaps a video from an author who chooses to use the fountain pens for penning his or her novels. I enjoyed your blog on that subject particularly inspiring. But, I seldom read the blog; I watch almost all these video reviews. THANKS!
My first two fountain pens (over 20 years ago) were Diplomats, still have and love them. Beautiful pens coming! Love the way he pronounces aluminum. Thanks for sharing, always enjoy the interviews.🌻🍁
fascinating, I was looking to get my first Diplomat FLAME and now to get a street art pen would be awesome. Each one a different piece of art unto itself. I've seen hydro printing before and it's amazing. Diplomat it truly ahead of its time with this. PEACE
Thank you Brian for the fascinating interview. I bought a Diplomat Magnum a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I'm looking forward to getting more of their pens in the future.
I literally Ordered a turquoise Aero about 5 minutes ago with Supershow Teal. It's my first higher end pen and I am really looking forward to using it!
Brian, did you chicken out or did I just miss hearing the pronunciation of the gentleman’s last name? I am curious. I have a Diplomat Excellence and like it very much. I like the solid weight/feel of it too. The collab with MadC is fabulous. Now I know why there have been such interesting pens coming from Diplomat. Mathias I wish you every success.
I would love to see a Diplomat Aero made out of solid Titanium :D Like a „Factory“ made out of Titanium. It would cost a lot, but I would be okay with it... There are just not many Titanium pens. :/ With a black (or Titanium, or flamed titanium) trim, if I already start dreaming :D (With the black trim I mean the regular black trim like it is used on the Factory for example) And the fact that they are made out of metal is what I absolutely love about this pens! :D
Sorry to say so, but in my experience the quality control of Diplomat has been a huge disappointment. I just got a Diplomat Aero yesterday and the barrel had several minor dents and a few more imperfections. Then the iridium tip on the nib was way too small and uneven which results in the pen not writing smoothly, as it should, and having starting and skipping issues! What a big disappointment . The pen will be returned. And for an aluminum pen with a (very stiff) steel nib, this is really expensive (160€), which would only be acceptable if quality control was great and nibs were as smooth and good as so many people claim the are. I sure got the odd one, but it proves that quality control was not as claimed or expected. The pen is suposed to have been checked at the factory even with a writing sample, by hand (so they say in their website). If the one I got was ever checked it was done too quickly and carelessly.
@@HookahBurdar Well I suppose one can only comment as one finds. Your Diplomat experience has been poor, whereas mine has been excellent. I am sorry to hear of your woes and hope that you get a full refund. Luck, my friend. Luck!
@@muchasgracias6976 Of course! Mark that as a collector, I requested a replacement one, under the guarantee. I really want to like this pen, but my first contact was a bit disappointing...
Great interview, good to see the people behind the pens. Cool coincidence, too, because I was just about to post an update on their great customer service to my review channel, so I included a shout-out and link to your interview (ua-cam.com/video/QxGqDa_aXy4/v-deo.html).
They are around the same length, the Excellence is considerably chunkier. You can compare the two with our Pen Plaza tool: www.gouletpens.com/pages/pen-plaza and the Excellence is definitely heavier (46g vs 28g) - Colin
There is such a hype and rave around the Aeros, that I finally got one (well actually 2, but one was bought for a gift), and I am so hugely disappointed! I even regret having bought one for a colleague as a retirement present. On the one hand, I must have got the odd one, but my pen does not write smoothly and has skipping and starting issues. Unusual for a German pen and from a brand that claims to check every pen even with a written sample, done by hand. If ever the one I got was checked this was done way too quickly and carelessly. The iridium tip is way to small and uneven. This precludes my solving the problem with mylar paper or so. The pen will be returned. But this proves that quality control was not as Diplomat claims it is. Then the barrel has two minor dents and a few more imperfections. Aside from that, the pen looks great and is very nice to hold while closed, but the metal section does not do it for me. It is a bit slippery on the matte silver one, and not comfortable to write with for me. So the design will not be confortable for everybody...
That should be changed* :P I have: • Diplomat Aero Factory (14k F) • Diplomat Excellence A2 Skyline Blue (14k B) • Diplomat Excellence A2 Skyline Blue (M steel) • Diplomat Excellence A2 Midnight Blue (14k B) I don’t have the Midnight Blue yet, but I ordered it. I want to put this 14k B on my Aero and the 14k F on the Midnight Blue one (at least for now, I‘ll see where the F nib ends up). I‘m not so much into fine nibs anymore. I really like their gold nibs... Something that is really great about the Excellence A2 is the grip :D I like it a lot, because it has a nice thickness and is not too thin :)
@@herrkeks8509 😆😆👍👍👍 Thanks for the input. The new Excellence shown in this video will be more than likely the first one I get....except in the Extra Fine/Fine (because, "that's how I roll"). Your run down of Diplomats is impressive to say the least and inspiring to know that the quality is consistent throughout. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks :) I also like the new one, reminds me of my Pelikan M815 Metal Striped. I‘ll have to see... But the Aero flame really does it for me :D I’ll definitively want one :) But I think I‘ll wait until I get a good deal on it, since it is part of the regular offering. An Aero, or Excellence made out of solid uncoated Titanium would be the ultimate jackpot. Same goes for an oversized Kaweco Supra made from said Titanium with a 2 mm thicker and 5 mm longer grip and a No. 8 nib, damn this would be more than just great :D I want some Titanium pens as you can see :D
@@herrkeks8509 The "worst" part about this hobby of pens (or any hobby to be honest ) are the temptations involved, let alone the "Battle of the Wallet." The MadC (being that I too like to draw.....and write) is also in the mix of pens "needed." I have yet to define the "needs" from the "wants"😆😆😆.
Spot on 😂 When something gets the „need“ stamp, damn I really need it and I go nuts 😂 Don’t ask me why I have a M1000 Green Striped (M), a M1005 Stresemann (M) and I feel the need for a M1005 Stresemann (B) and a B nib for the M1000. They definitely have the need stamp on them 😂
Thank you, Brian and Mathias. The Diplomat Aero sunset is one of my favourite pens.
cant wait for next year please have Mathias back

Can’t believe I missed this interview.
Great get!
I love these interview videos. Nice job! I really like the look of the Aero Flame. Also the colab with MadC is a fantastic idea. Cheers!
Wow i like those pens. Finally someone is making pens with real grip sections! And click on caps.
They all look very comfy to hold!
Excellent interview. Great things happening at Diplomat!
Love the look of the new products.
Awesome interview Brian.
Nice to hear the thought process behind an interesting and upcoming company

Great pens! I have 5 Excellents A's and one Aero. I've been enjoying them for many years now.
Thank you Brian and Mathias, really interesting interview and so so insightful.👍👍👍👍
I have a Diplomat Aero(black med) on order at present. Good to hear Diplomat have some new designs in the pipeline.

Great video! Good job, Team Goulet!
Great interview and I am so intrigued by that Diplomat Excellence Wave pen. It’s modern but the design has a vintage feel.
As best you can, invite more pen company folks (guessing you do btw). These are the most popular vids for me.
Artist collaboration is impressive. I have a Diplomat rollerball that is extremely well-made.
Loving these interviews!

I just bought an Aero and it is awesome. The writing smoothness matches my gold-nibbed pens.
Good timing I just picked up a diplomat last week. Quality pen. If they could be made a little larger that would be great
I am now adding a Diplomat Aero to the collection. JoWo nibs are fantastic.

Diplomat as a brand are pretty underrated but are so amazing and have the best after sales/customer service I’ve ever experienced with fountain pens.

I would rather consider this brand to be hugely overrated!
