Brian & Rachel, thanks for this overview of the Diplomat line. I really liked the rocker clip makes life so much easier when putting the pen in your pocket.
Glad to see you carrying Diplomat. I have the Excellence A and hope to get others. All their models are beautiful and seem very well made.

Great pens! I have a shiny black Traveller and it is such a nice looking pen. Writes beautifully with a converter (not a fan of how it writes with Diplomat cartridges). I'm happy to have Diplomats on Gouletpens now! Thank you for the video!

Thank you, Brian and Rachel. I too really enjoy capping the Aero. The Magnum seems to be a better starter pen than the Pilot Metro or Lamy Safari.

Well before this video I was going to get the black and orange Aero, but after seeing all of the colors I may just have to get the set.
In the last year or so I saw multiple complaints of the Aero cap seal loosening over time. Have there been any changes to prevent that from happening?
The brown Aero has been on my list for a while, but now I want a Magnum too. And that Excellence A2 deserves a second look... This is why I refuse to own credit cards, I would get myself into soooo much trouble. Back to saving up... :)
Good news! The Magnum has just won the coveted Robin Masters Seal of Approval. *:D*
I'm surprised you didn't choose to stock the Excellence Midnight blue A2, especially with the Goulet blue thing. As in my opinion most attractive modern Diplomat available. Got it with a 14kt medium and it writes like a dream
I think the Skyline Blue spoke to Brian a bit more, but the Midnight definitely looks nice. If we expand, that could totally be a possibility. - Colin
My aero does not write and came here looking for help but totally disappointed in that your video was of no help.
My very first fountain pen was a Diplomat. I don't know what model, I purchased at an office supply store 25+ years ago. I liked it so much I got a second of the same pen one in hunter green and one in burgundy. I still have and use both to date. You've chosen a nice selection of styles and colors.🤓🌻🖋

Out of curiosity, why don't these companies selling flame torched pens add some protective coating or resin on top?

That is a good question. Not entirely sure, but I would guess it has something to do with the process involved. Add a new set of automation for some of the pens? Some sort of clear lacquer to encase the torching would be ideal. - Colin

Looking online, it looks like they have an office in Paris, but the pens are machined in Germany. - Colin

I love the magnum it looks so nice
The diplomat aero is my favorite pen for sheer writing experience! I have many more expensive and or prettier pens but this one writes the absolute best! A very close second for me is the pilot custom 74! The diplomat magnum is garbage! It’s a cute affordable pen with great colors but it is sooooo skinny that it is unwritable! So happy with all my Aeros! I just bought the turquoise so now I have four of these beauties! I must also report that the steel nib writes much better than the gold nib on this model! I was surprised that was the case!

I love Diplomat Pens!1 My only disappointment is that my tin didn't have the Diplomat name and logo on it. Classy pen, I must say. I'm not a fan of slim pens, but this one doesn't bother me much. I think the weight helps.

Diplomat magnum in gray with a fine nib was my first fountain pen I bought from Goulet!

Thank you for the tremendously improved camera work!! I headed to your website to order the the Traveler in Lumi blue to discover it is only available with a medium nib. ☹️ Will you ever have it with a fine nib?
As of right now, the Lumi colors only come with a medium nib. We're inquiring with Diplomat to see if more nib sizes can be possible at some point. - Colin

Chiming in as part of the 4 finger grip club. I think I hold my pens that way because my hands are small, but who knows... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Kinda interested in the tactile click on the caps but I can't justify more pens right now (at least until I become ambidextrous and can write with both hands simultaneously). Might be a good present for a coworker that likes to fidget though lol.

Arrrgggh, I had bought the Oscar the Grouch and Matte Black versions of the Aero last week but now after this video the Orange must be added to my collection!
Still gonna give a nod to my Duke pens. There's only a few different models and colors that I can find, but the ones they have are lovely and they've got a few different kinds of nibs.
Thanks both . I have an Aero in metallic brown and the nib is unbelievably good, highly recommended.
As a lefty, I also find triangular grips to be undesirable - it's not just righties with a 4-fingered grip that have a challenge.

Can the nib on the aero be changed?
It sounds like you are more excited about the Magnum than the more expensive Traveller.
Since we've launched, it seems like most people are more excited about the Magnum! Same writing experience, yet more affordable. Traveller is a good option if you want that metal-bodied look. - Colin

Agreed, I just recently got into the hobby, someone gave me a Lamy Safari as a departure gift, so I'm learning the ropes. The Diplomat Magnum looks very similar. I must admit I like the triangular grip on the Safari which it seems a lot of people don't like.
I don't know if it's feasible to add, but it might be a nice data point for your site to include grip style. As I mentioned, I am just getting into the hobby, so I don't know if that's a common enough data point to include.

Definitely something we can spotlight in a future video (Write Now, or otherwise). Just in my personal experience with it, it's really nice. Solid build quality, great for showcasing 2 of your favorite pens, and a little storage section for random fountain pen things (cartridges, converters, etc. ) - Colin

I haven't seen either available with an EF yet, but you could swap on a #5 EF nib if you wanted. If they do expand their nib selections, we'll look to carry it as well. - Colin
Hi Colin, Thanks for the reply, but you may want to consider a more proactive approach and contact Diplomat and ask them to expand their nibs to include a extra fine.
Diplomat offers EF nibs for their Excellence and Aero lines. It may well be just a matter of time and customer demand before they offer them for all their models.
Offer the Aero in Broad!
Just be aware that the "soft touch" finish of the Magnum scratches extremely fast.

A case may not help against all problems. The edges of the grip can get peeled off just by putting the cap on if you are not extremely careful. :/

How thick is the traveler pen compared to the pilot Metropolitan?

Yeah, it's definitely on the thinner side of fountain pens, thinner than the Metro! Pretty similar to the PTL-5000A from Platinum. - Colin

Thank you for the informative video but I have a few advise for you. 1. I can tell you’re the owner, 2. You’re knowledgeable of your products, 3. You’re strong willed, 4. But you come across as fake and not likable, 5. Get your mug off of the front of the camera, 7. Until you can afford to hire one, stay behind the camera and do table-top reviews. That’s the reason companies have speakers. This comes from a senior executive and believe me I know what I’m talking about. Now send me a Pilot Excellence gold nip for the very valuable advise I gave you ;)
From the content of your comment, you are obviously a 'senior executive' who has poor communication skills and struggles with basic literacy and numeracy. Try to remember your own limitations before criticising others. Now, I'll give you that 'advice' for free!
