In this interaction, the judge verbally sided with the defense once and arguably used body language to signal approval of the defense’s point at another instance. Once you get out of the military you’re done. There is no mandate to continue training if you want to be considered a soldier -you always are! As a former police officer, if you want to remain certified after leaving the department but no longer acting in this capacity, there is required YEARLY in-service training. To my recollection, after 3 yrs of being unemployed as a PO, you are required to complete the academy again if you want to return to active duty. This is such BS!

The prosecution wanted it on record that she would object if new information was presented, and as she saw some of the slides, she had already noticed that there were several things she would be objecting to. This is all standard. For example, you can't bring up that there were a bunch of 911 calls in your closing arguments if no one has testified to that fact. State is nitpicking. These are just visual aids to help him in his presentation, not "evidence". He's not passing them off to the jury as indisputable facts - just as visual representations of or aids to his verbal argument. Why would the State object to a neighborhood sign being used as a header on a PowerPoint? Why would the State object to a visual outline for an argument? He's already going to say that these are the things his client said on the stand. It's not like the information on the board is different from what's coming out of his mouth. You don't introduce new pictures, diagrams, or present new information in your closing statement. This is a tactic used to purposely confuse the jury and undermine all testimony in the final moments.
Or even show a new picture of how far one of the defendants was from the victim if you haven't already submitted it into evidence for the state to review.

Probably wouldn't have gone differently. If you look at the self-defense law in the state, it was unlikely to end up with a different verdict.
@@williamwalcott8808 Sure... I guess you didn't watch the trial if that's what you think. How is your echo chamber?
@@PapeySapote Sadly, true. There is no law against being an interfering moron. I honestly think Rittenhouse, and the rioters should be punished for the actions leading up to the deaths. Actions any reasonable person could see the potential of. Same for all riots and insurrections.

His defense 😳 😤 is crazy, the man is running away and has ABSOLUTELY NO DUTY or OBLIGATION to stop/ be interviewed or detained by a Civilian. WTH .
@Dan Reardon 🤦🏻♂️ so if two strangers followed you and said you’re under citizens arrest you’d stop and comply? You’re gonna end up in another country turning tricks some day with that attitude. Lol
@Dan Reardon you can't chase someone down who was unarmed when you are armed then claim self defense !!!
@Dan Reardon what charge were they gonna charge Ahmaud with seeing as they only saw him running down the street didn’t know where he was coming from, where he was going or why he was even running. At the police station Travis McMichael had a hour to write down exactly what happened that day and said nothing about the neighbor pointing but now all of a sudden that’s his main point and then keeps stuttering saying he wrote one thing but meant something else, yeah right buddy
@Dan Reardon Where was this citizens arrest bs during the rittenhouse trial? They were trying to disarm a child with an assualt weapon, look how that turned out
@Dan Reardon you're under citizens arrest, wait where you are and at my convenience I'll be there to notify law enforcement... if you try to leave you could be shot in self defense.
Sound reasonable? Why didn't they just take pictures and follow him for law enforcement officials without their guns?
This defense attorney thinks he's slick, who tries to do this crap in the closing argument?? 🙄
Someone who knows they are going to lose, and is desperate.

It's called Grasping for Straws. And the woman defense attorney was just absolutely disgusting talking about the victim's toes. Wow. I hope to God that she gets disbarred somewhere along the line. Is this what we have come to in the Justice System.
She is right! She should be able to confirm all 911 calls before he amplifies them as facts before the jury.
They can ask for the notes from the court reporter. The defense attorney's cant not interpret the testimony for the jury. He cant introduce new evidence in closing...wtf?
Was it ok for the Rittenhouse prosecutors to do some of the same things?
This is an old hat trick. Never works unless the judge is on your books. This defense lawyer just made himself look stupid AF.

@@Grammy52 They don't have to be entered as evidence. You really don't know what a closing statement is? Both sides get up there and present their biased version of their notes/views on the evidence. None of them are police officers. They are private citizens who never personally observe another private citizen commit a crime. Yet, left the comfort of their home with guns, hit the private citizen with their pick up truck, got out of their pick up on scene and shot the unarmed citizen. After that, the father called the DA J.Jonson from the scene and the DA told them to go home and wash the blood and gun residue off their person.
I Also note that they never called the police during the so-called citizens arrest.

How unprofessional is the defense for NOT typing up his notes? Secondly how do we know that those notes are really what he wrote in front of the jury he could have added more no one knows
Or his Rewording his words
What's unprofessional about not typing up notes? Hand written notes serve as a visual aid, and are more visually engaging. They also convey an amount of authenticity that isn't always present in typed notes. Further, these notes are familiar to the jury as they've seen them before, so it might spark greater thought or emotional responses.
There are ten more good answers to your question as well. Try not to let your desires for a certain outcome taint the way you interpret the acts of the attorneys. These are all good attorneys, and none of them took this case off.
@@thepubliusproject Just curious, does the jury also have a snapshot of the attorneys' notes when they were finalized right after testimonies? Cause the second question posed by the OP is also quite important which was how can it be confirmed that there were no edits to the notes post testimony which may distort what was actually said on the stand. So I'm just curious about that.
@@extremeheat9283 I don't know the answer to your first question, and neither do you, but it's likely a "no."
I have no idea how they could confirm accuracy after the fact, except for maybe that he did it on a giant white board in a court room with 20 cameras rolling.
This is all recorded, Extreme. They could easily review the video.
I use handwriting for notes. I don’t think there’s anything bad there. What’s weird is he didn’t transcribe his notes. My only guess is he wanted to prove they were primary sources from what he wrote during the trial and not something he typed out after the fact?
The biggest mistake the prosecution has made so far is not finding out the coast guard records. He overstated his record and training!!!!
But his actions in the case showed he was lackluster which was proven.
She doesn't need to. His actions and total disregard for any of his basic training are direct signs that he did exactly what he wanted to do. He is a disgrace to his country, himself, and his family, and because of his blind bigotry... he confessed to murder with no problem and was allowed to remain free for over 70 days after he had blatantly committed felony murder.
Have not been keeping up as much, but I imagine that the CG training would give him better or more solid ability to address particular situations like they ended up in?
Or that’s the defense’s narrative
I agree none of his coast guard training unless it has to do with training with a truck or a shotgun should be allowed...
The defense was trying to introduce things related to his character to make him look good and present Travis as a good law enforcement type officer, instead of a racist murderer!
The objective is to distract the court from the blood covered hands of his defendant, the testimony of the personality of defendant by the defense attorneys was not relevant and was not the place of the attorneys to submit to the court ,the prosecution over looked this and allowed the defense attorney's to get away with this.🙃

@You Have Horses They stalked, and attempted to detain a man for jogging down a sidwalk. That is illegal in and of itself. They used guns to threaten that man. Also very illegal.
