One thing I loved about the show is how they played up the competence of Art, Rachel and Tim. They were never just setup men for Raylan or simply there to make him look good, even if they were never in as many episodes as one might want to see.
Honestly agreed. They became such strong characters in their own right. It provided a great arch where Raylan was used to relying on no one at all and slowly but surely he started to trust them.
I love that immediately after that he says, cuff your left hand, put it through the steering wheel and cuff gator boy and then he cuffs his RIGHT hand while calling Dewey "stupid". Great directing. Great writing. Great acting.

The pilot episode was filmed in the Pittsburgh area and the remainder of the series in California. The only parts actually filmed in Kentucky was the opening credits. I read that they wanted to actually shoot in in the Harlan area but there was no facilities large enough for the production to build a sound stage to house the indoor sets.
I'm from Backward County UK where the roads are half as wide and lined with bushes and banks each side and no road lights for 20 or 30 miles at a time... Yes. We did used to drive down those roads at 3am with no lights or just hazard lights on. Yes, we did end up around trees or in ditches, sometimes. others we had a fucking good laugh lol. We cared less in those days lol (and our cars were a lot cheaper ha!)
Oh you would be surprised. On a couple of occasions, I was crewed up with a bloke who regularly drove without lights, along rather narrow country lanes in England on night shifts. He was barking mad. We reckoned it was all the lead in the air he had ingested from the indoor range, as he had formerly been a firearms instructor.
Did anyone else notice that Raylan told the guy to cuff his left hand and put it through the wheel but he cuffed his right hand while calling the driver stupid? lol
Only if the guys shooting are good.. Looked like 1./2 the shots hit nothing but air.. That is the upside for law enforcement.. the majority of Crooks don't spend a lot of time at the range

An engine block will stop rifle rounds and as it’s an government issue suv intended for federal law enforcement it likely would be up armored with Kevlar liners in the doors and such. Still against rifles at that range those doors wouldn’t be adequate regardless, but as long as you stayed low and behind the car so that the engine block is being utilized it could work. Now whether the marshals would have actually had time to get out of the car and back behind it is the stretch.

Twice. Once here, while he's been transferred to prison. The other times Raylan has popped Dewy it busted Dewy's lip on his steering wheel & the second time he may have broke Dewy's jaw with the same move
