- Justified TV Series - there were a ton of bad guys over the six seasons. Some you saw briefly before Raylen took care of them. Others were in multiple seasons and episodes and some were in the game from start to finish. Gary Hawkins, Robert Quarles, Wynn Duffy, Mags Bennett, Fletcher Nix, Boon and many more!
Who is your favorite antagonist in this series? There were SO many that it's hard to choose and we kind of felt like a kid in a candy store making this video!

10:35 in all my years maybe the most unexpected piece of tv I’ve ever seen and Raylan keeping his arm away from him was just shear brilliance.
Lol - I always chuckle at the look on Raylen's face when he's keeping that arm at bay!
It reminds me of the scene in "A Million Ways to Die in the West" where NPH is reaching for the second hat.
McDonough was terrific as Quarles. Underrated actor.
I agree - he plays the perfect psycho killer!
Did you know he never get lead roles because he won't do "love" scenes in movies or TV shows because he believes it would disrespect his marriage?
Walton Goggins is one of the best actors working today. His best rolls are yet to come.
Incredibly versatile actor and my absolute favorite in this series.
TO " Addyadderson " : I must respectfully disagree. I cannot imagine Walton Goggins EVER doing any better work than his 7 seasons on " Justified " . The writing, & the directing allowed him to create an unforgettable character, the likes of which we will never see again. IMO.---------------MJL, 78 y/o
Wynn Duffy is televisions greatest criminal.
He sure manages to hang in there when everyone around him is dropping like flies!
Neal McDonough plays a great bad guy. In Justified he really leans into it.
And he takes "crazy" to a whole new level...
@@ReelCluesthat is until Limehouse "disarmed" him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's the borderline albino look and the ice cold delivery he gives. Gives a sense of "this guy will kill you".
Neal plays some of the nastiest villains in TV and movies, including Walking Tall, Red 2, Yellowstone, and best of all Damien Darhk in the Arrowverse. All this from a devout Roman Catholic, husband and family man (5 kids), who refuses to do sex scenes or even kiss another woman on set.
His character of Malcom Beck in Yellowstone Season 2 was the closest I've seen him come to touching the level of crazy he was in this one.
Great compilation; job well done. I didn't watch the Justified series until years after it was wrapped up. Really a fantastic show; one of my all-time favorites.
Thank you very much! Ours as well - still watch it!
To think how different Justified would be if Walton was killed off in the first season which was the original plan. However the chemistry between Walton & Timothy proved to be something to build on and proved to be one of the key points in the success of Justified . But no matter how small the roles were for everyone that was cast , their roles were carefully chosen and together with brilliant script writing Justified was a rough diamond that turned into a precious stone that never seems to lose its quality as every actor brings out the best in each other and that is the ingredients of a true masterpiece . Bravo to everyone involved from script to screen
Agree 100% - would love to have seen a bit more involvement of Tim Gutterson. I think his character was pretty deep and that we only scratched the surface!
And yet City Primevil was hot garbage. Raylan was all hat and no cattle in it.
Loved this series!!! Please put it on youtube!!!
I liked pretty much everyone except Rapaport but Wynn goddamn Duffy was the best. A Wynn Duffy scene is never not s tier entertainment.
Rapaport was just too ... over the top? Just didn't quite fit.
The Crowe family were my least favorite crew in the series. How they survived as long as they did is beyond me. Can't believe Boyd fell for them.
LoL 😁I watched every episode at least three times and these clips and commentary are right on and edited perfectly!
Thanks - Glad you like them!
One dream, dialogue battle I would have paid to see was Boyd Crowder versus Boon. Now that is something I would pay for. boon was awesome. I wish he would’ve had at least two seasons in the series. That’s how awesome he was and also that guy Fletcher that was another character I wish they would’ve gave more time to.
Absolutely - Boon and Nix had very similar styles!
I'll always say the writers jacked up dedicating the Crowe family as the season 5 villains. They should've been off'd within the first 3 episodes, and then Avery Markham with his goons should've been introduced to build up to the season finale of introducing Boon - giving Boon all of Season 6 to chew up!
That scene when Boyd tells Colton "take care of him" then he blasts him
Definitely an "oops"...
Who else thought that Justified: Primeval City was a big disappointment? Makes me want to re-watch the original again.
Rewatched it a few times now - and with Crowder finally coming back to Justified I may just watch City Primeval after all!
When is crowder coming back. If City was the first series there wouldn't have been a justified
The bad guy in City Primeval isn't in the Top 10 of Justified bad buys. I was disappointed. It was good, just not great.
@@leonardhandzlik6008 he was just a sadist, no redeeming quality
Love the list, my only real flaw is Mags was number two in my eyes. She was amazing, ruthless, and yet loveable.
Would love to have seen another season with her!
Ive been called a lot of things, inarticulate ain't one of them.
LOVE that Crowder quote!
Boyd and Raylen were the best parts of the show, or as they put it "We dug coal together".
Agree 100%
Well done-- really nice synopsis--just enough !!
thanks - there are SO many great characters and scenes in this series it's tough to keep it short enough to still be interesting!
Walton & Timothy are both brilliant actors , its a pleasure watching their work , they both deserve oscars for their roles in Justified which is one of the best bad guy series ever produced next to The Sopranos
Absolutely agree!!
13:20 - „and even though Eva does plenty of bad things, she really isn’t a bad person“! I found that interesting and surprising! I wonder how that would work out in the narrators private life…
Lol - you could be onto something there ...
I love how the last duel of the series had a call back to the first time Boyd and raylan saw each other when Boyd said raylan wore is famous hat the right way “not down to his ears” secondly raylan was trained to go for the heart boon always aimed for the head.
Boon was an odd character i think but the only true competition when it came to quick draw against Raylan!
Boyd was the best antagonist in the show. Walton Goggins is always watchable.
He's a very versatile actor - I was surprised to see him in the old TV series The Shield as well.
He was on the SHIELD too!!
Yes he was
Limehouse should have been a main protagonist in one of the seasons. He turns into an anti-hero but I think he would have been great as a villain.
I agree! It's the likeable, charming protagonists that are the most interesting to watch.
Great stuff! Best US show ever. My faves are Duffy and Quarles. Then there’s Dickie and Dewey. Jeez!
While Margo Martindale and Jeremy Davies each won an Emmy for their roles in the series, I think Damon Harrimon should have won one as well but he wasn't even nominated!
Good or bad, right or wrong you will be remembered in the in the lonely song .
All these folks have the best teeth I've ever seen.
Lol - Goggins’ teeth are almost sparkling!
Happy to see wood Harris on here. Long time fan, he deserves more recognition. Great list!
Thanks! He and his brother made a great team - albeit briefly!
Ava was definitely a villian, every decision she made she choose to blame everyone else for.
She was in way over her head I think for most of it. She was one of the lucky ones that made it out alive though.
Ava was always trying to tie herself to the man who she thought was the way out. Un the end she was her own way out. If they don't keep Boyd around she ends up with Raylan
Dewey and Dickie deserved their own entries on this list.
They're coming on a separate video, and Arlo too!
"I am The Outlaw!"
Nice list.
Thanks - it was hard to keep this video short. Haven't even touched on Arlo. I think he may get his own video!
City Primeval was quite a disappointment. I don’t know what suffered more. Rayland’s draw or his taste in women.
Agree completely! It's not a continuation of the Justified series, it's just another "detective" tv series that lacks any real "oomph".
One of the best written shows ever. Great dialogue!
Absolutely - really well written and acted! I've only been able to watch the first episode of the new series, but I'm going to make myself watch the rest this summer. Maybe it gets better ...
The description you gave about Bo Cryder was as perfect as it could be. The man's character was a drug lord playing god in the series. I was glad to finally see him get his fair dew.
The bigger they come the harder they fall ...
Justified has been about the only thing I've watched on TV. The characters and story lines are so well developed, and who doesn't love a wild west style quick draw shootout?
Absolutely. Rewatch it regularly because it’s usually better than most shows on tv!
Interesting that Rappaport doesn't need to do anything special to act like a massive douche canoe, .. he simply plays himself !! 😮😅😂
Didn't much like his character in this series at all!
Happy to see Daryl Crowe Jr. mentioned fourth in the video. I think Michael Rapaport is seriously underrated as season 5's primary antagonist.
...then again, maybe the whole show is just seriously underrated. Recently rewatched seasons 5 & 6 before watching City Primeval and both were still f*cking great.
Best series in a long, long time. I was surprised at the dislike people have for Rappaport - not sure if it was for him generally as an actor, or how he portrayed the Head Crow in this series.
I have been a Justified junky from minute of episode 1. I loved the Justified bad guys. I would be as terrified as sh*t to encounter any of them. Of course, Boyd Crowder is even with Raylan in defining the series. 'Justified' is not Justified without Boyd and Raylan.
Agree 100%
Neal McD is the goat of villains.
His eyes are crazily chilling - it's no wonder he plays the villain to perfection!
To me Quarles was the best minus Boyd. He has that homelander quality like he cans snap any moment . Pair that with his backstory of beating up pimps and his dad being the Detroit boss , it was a deep character . The only thing is his death was never confirmed and there were thoughts to bring him back in the later seasons
Guess who showed up at the very end of Justified : City Primeval?
I heard that - fantastic news!!
Superb, excellent, and whatever other superlative you might want to use to describe this tv series. Every facet, every development, not to mention the incomparable rhetoric ... one shakes their head in appreciation. Now the array of characters and the actors who played those roles: fundamentally perfect! I recognize that this series may not have appealed to everyone. Be that as it may, the whole comprehensive depiction and the experience of watching it all, more than once mind you, felt nonetheless paradoxically sublime. (my 2 cents...)
top notch writing AND casting. Watching it yet again!
walter goggings is a great actor
Agree 1000%
My favorite tv series ever. Some powerful acting happening in this series..
Acting is definitely top-notch and the writing is stellar. I've tried the first episode of City Primeval and it seems completely different. Hopefully it improves as it goes on.
I forget sometimes how great the SUPPORTING ACTORS CAST was.
To be fair, blanking on her name, Loretta was better than Mags in the end.
With a few exceptions the casting on this series was exceptional!
I would love to have seen more of Boon in the last season. He was a chilling character. In his scenes with Loreta, he seemed at his evil best. He was the only character in the series I thought was any match for Raylan in a gun fight. Their final showdown didn't disappoint, I just wished we'd seen more of him before Raylan killed him.
He was a good gunfighter for sure, and a little creepy / weird besides!
Wonder how much they had to pay Sam Elliot to get him to shave his moustache?
Not sure but it was a bit of a shock seeing him like that the first time!
Also shaved it for when we were soldiers
"It's a shame he won't be in the new Justified series City Primevial". Yeah, about that.
I know - so excited about that!
If he is going to "pull on you" his gun will be on his right side if his gun is on the left side he won't.
And Boyd just escaped from jail in Justified City Primeval
Yes - and just in time to save the new series ...
who narrated this vid, was Mary Steanvirgin
Lol - it was not.
Someone Canadian
Neil McDonagh is probably the most type cast man on American Television
Gotta be those crazy eyes!
@@ReelClues He's also reaching Jack Elam levels of Screen Death.
Not really. Have you seen him Greater?
iN THE HISTORY OF TV CHARACTERS, BOYD CROWDWER ----------SO BEAUTIFULLY PLAYED BY WALTON GOGGINS--------STANDS AS ONE OF THE MOST COMPELLING. WHEN HE'S ON THE SCREEN, HE JUST OWNS IT . I LOVED THE CHARACTER, EVEN KNOWING HE'S AN ANTAGONIST . --------GREAT WRITING, DIRECTING, & ACTING, MAKE " JUSTIFIED " AN OUT & OUT CLASSIC. ------------------MJL, 78 Y/O
Forgot Arlo Givens
We dedicated a whole video to Arlo - couldn't fit his character into a compilation clip!
@@ReelClues gotcha just saved it to 'watch later' great series wasn't it?!
"One of the darkest in the entire series" you mean Darhkest right? :-D Great video ;-)
Lol - Daddy Darhkest ... didn't really think about that!
Great recap
Appreciate that - thank you!
Rappaport was so bad in this series. Literally one of the only bad castings
Very much agreed.
Yeah I have to agree - maybe if the accent was less over the top. Hard to get by that.
@@ReelClues It wasn't that the accent was over the top , per se, (lots of real Southern accents are) it was that it was terribly inconsistent. Half the time he tried to sound like New Orleans, the other half it was New Jersey.
@@jadefire1814yeah, that was extremely frustrating too. But it most certainly was over the top, and very obviously fake. They made it distracting which is a far more egregious sin. Too bad, I really like the actor, but that was a big miss.
Yeah. He's a piece of shit in real life too.
Daryll Crowe Jr. is the only disappointment in the entire series. They should have tried to make his lines shorter. He was not cast poorly and his acting was good. But his accent was just short of authentic to my ears. And I don't think the director did a good job with him. He was ruthless and opportunistic but somehow a little too desperate for his character. And his backstory of being from Florida would call for a slower drawl and more assured actions, kind of like an evil "Uncle Jed". I love that Boone uses a revolver. :) Raylan switching to a black hat absolutely requires an explanation! I might quibble but this is an excellent video. Thank you.
So many viewers absolutely hated Rapaport in this series. He was definitely not on my list of favorites. Seemed to me like he was overacting through most of the season (lol - Evil Uncle Jed).
If you haven't watched the series yet, this video spoils lots of the surprises
It does, but it's intention is more of a recap than a trailer. If you haven't watched the series I highly recommend it. I'm rewatching it - again!
Got to practice your A B C's, "Always" "Be" "Cool".
Crowder had some great lines!
Looking forward to season 2.
haven't watched City Primeval yet. Putting it off because I think it may disappoint me being out of the South. It was the southern characters that captured me most in Justified.
Fantastic!!!
Glad you like it!
great summary.
Thanks!
Boyd came back!
Lost me at Canadian mafia, they threaten to put their version of bacon on stuff or what?
Lol - I kind of wondered about that myself ...
I mean there is organized crime in canada, just like anywhere else. Maybe it could've been a plot point worth exploring more, but they were already setting up so many others, so I guess they deemed it not worth elaborating on.
Boone is my favorite. I like his style the way he talks and how he carries himself. Boyd Is second
He was good in Copland but he didn't play a tough guy in it.
Haven't seen Copland - you're talking about Rappaport? I was surprised at the negative comments about him - not very well liked!
@@ReelClues Good movie! Check it out. 👍
Quarrels was #1 outta town bad guy
Mags was#2
Boyd was overall -#1 dude of badness
#wedugcoaltogether
this and Deadwood have to be the best series ive ever watched. Breaking Bad was good but both Walt and Jessie did too much waffling and stupid shit without the great dialog of Justified
Deadwood is still my favorite series - but i am having a hard time getting clips up. They are pretty tightly protected with copyright. I'll keep trying!
I guess they put a surprise on you when they ended up, showing boyd Crowder at the end of prime evil.
Pleasantly surprised for sure! He can only add to that series - I struggled to watch it. Just wasn't the same.
Yeah, me as well and there is a couple of other people I would like for them to make regulars on the show. My first choice would be Rachel and my other would be Tim Gutherson. and my reason for these people is because they missed out by not showing them more in the original story then they did. I think they were both great characters they could’ve been explored more. And I am certain that they’re going to show Ava. That’s pretty much guaranteed.
I don't know why, but Winn Duffy was my favorite if you don't count Boyd as just a villain.
Duffy always provided such great comic relief!
Neal gets my vote....he's both mentally and physically brutal...............
I'll say - he's one scary guy!
And in real life he's a very Christian man. Won't be in a movie where he has to kiss a woman.
Walton was pretty good in Fat Man too. Quirky, skilled, I don't think pyschopathic counts if its just a business transaction, does it?
Ha ha - brilliant, psychopathic and very entertaining!
Yes totally agree about ava 💯
Loved Ava in this series and hated seeing her have to head on over to the dark side.
But he is in the new Justified series!
I found that out after this video was posted. So now I AM going to watch City Primeval!
The best “one-off” villain of the series did not make this list. It’s Chis Chalk as Jody Adair, season 4. At fist I wasn’t too interested in his storyline because it was unrelated to the Drew Thompson mystery arc, but repeated watching of his performance yields a depth of character that actors don’t achieve too often.
His character is a sociopath, but he does not act menacing all the time, betraying a sense of humor that ranges into goofiness (e.g. the student film he makes with his friend to call out Raylan). Jody was such a cool villain that I wish he didn’t get his comeuppance until the end of the season. But, it’s the business of an actor to leave you wanting more, and for me he did just that.
I'll make sure he gets some time in the follow-up video - there were a LOT of villains in this series!
But HE IS (Boyd) in the new series introduced in the last episode of season 1, the very end :)
Thank god - I was hoping for that!
yeah, he is still in prison but got "transfered"....wont ruin it for ya :)@@ReelClues
He's in the new Primeval series.
Just heard that - excellent!
I always found Boon just...a little disappointing. I get how he was supposed to work as a dark mirror to aspects of Raylan, but he just...never worked for me, and felt like he got dragged out too long. Quarles and Mags were the best of the overarching villains (partly because I have a hard time calling Boyd a villain) while Wynn Duffy was just entertaining, entirely due to fantastic acting by Jere Burns.
Absolutely agree about Boon - not sure if it was the overacting or just the character I didn't much like. Would loved to have seen Mags go another season and Quarles, wow. the guy plays the perfect psycho!
@@ReelClues Much as I loved Mags, I think the wrap up to her story was appropriate. Better she go out on a high (as a character/story-wise, not in character) than kept around too long and squandered. Then again, one could've argued the same for Boyd, and look how well he worked out after what was supposed to be his death in the series premiere.
Boon was supposed to be the mirror to Raylan. But They:
- Give Him a hat, but stupider than Raylan's
- Don't show how skilled He is in guns. He only won against civilians
- Make Him a Pedo that chases Loretta
- Give Him a literal "Pedo-stache"
In the end, I couldn't take Him seriously.
Oh, Boyd will be back...
Lol - yes I was pleasantly surprised! Not sure if it can save this new spinoff but here's hoping!
"I've accused of many things. Being inarticulate ain't one of 'em" -- Boyd Crowder
Great line, great acting.
Loved Justified. I enjoyed Primeval. Found the villain's in primeval just weren't as engaging (poor mans Boyd and Ava) as Justified characters, until the last episode ending at least.
Now that I know there's a chance the story might head back down South I might just watch it!
Have you watched City Primeval?
Not yet - but now that I hear Boyd might be back and the story heads South I think I will!
@@ReelClues Have you watched it yet?
("Are we there yet? 😂😂😂)
Ok how did Jody Adair not make this list. He was formidable once then literally broke out of a prison transport and killed two Marshalls.
He caused more chaos then some of this list.
And I live Dewey and dickie but get why they did not make it haha
*love
Jody and a few others are going to have their own "forgotten villains" video. Arlo is getting his own because there are so many scumbag things that he did!
Ah, but was in City Primeval
A really value-adding video to this wonderful series.
It's hard to disagree with the content, although I wasn't fond on Limehouse, while I found Duffy a complex and somewhat likeable villain.
If you would be considering a follow-up video there are great villains left, including but not limited to Doyle Bennett, Choo-Choo, Arlo Givens, Danny Crowe, Rodney 'Hot Rod' Dunham, Sheriff Hunter Mosley, Ty Walker and Elias Marcos in Alan Tudyk's bone-chilling cameo.
Thank you - There will definitely be another although I think there's enough of Arlo for his very own video!
It's the best series ever.
Anybody else recognize Gary from fright night
I did not - from the 2011 movie?
As far as characters in the series goes, I liked Boyd Crowder more than Raylan Givens. Always found myself rooting for him.
Me too - episodes were always more interesting when the focus was on Boyd!
City Prime Evil is TRASH!!!!Bad writing, casting,,Love interests.. Ect TOTALLY OUT OF CHARTER! Put Raylen back in KY!!
Can't imagine Givens anywhere else - haven't dared watch the new series yet.
Too bad they didn't film Rapaport's scenes with live ammunition.
Ha ha - you’re not the first to suggest that!
crazy sht man when you see Brian shaved....
Sam Elliott? I know it was a shock to see him without his signature moustache!
Forgot about ty walker and arlo
Yes but I don't know dead owls.
I don't give a hoot
Boyd better make an appearance on city primevil
Haven't even watched it yet - can't imagine Givens in any other environment than Kentucky. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually but without Crowder ...
only at the very end, but looks like he will be back in the next one.
The new series isn’t any good for a variety of reasons. I’d rather they had just left it alone
It's hard to imagine Justified outside of Kentucky, and especially without Boyd Crowder!
Whoa! Dickey Bennett?
He made our second Bad Guy video!
Cooter RIP
There's always room for another fast-draw.
Raylen was king of the fast draw in this series that's for sure! Not so much in City Primeval...
Sam Elliot, hell yes
Uh, no. Daryl Crowe was a joke. Totally unbelievable as a threat.
didn't like him much - bad casting. But he did get a lot of guys killed...
Neal was brilliant as Robert definitely one of the darkest
Michael rapoport is one of the weakest to me
boyd is definitely one of the best
Megs is truly an unforgettable villain
Rappaport just ended up being annoying rather than a real villain. Wanted to rule the world but only if it was handed to him on a silver plate first ... And Mags was amazing!!
