Thanks for posting these clips, Karen. As you probably know, there isn't much footage anywhere from the years the Warriors were in Philly. The tapes were either destroyed or taped over in an effort to save money. My family enjoyed watching the Warriors on Sunday nights, and I appreciate the athletic abilities of skaters like Judy, Richard Brown, Buddy Atkinson, Jr and many others. The Warrior team in particular had a wealth of talent, which made for some great entertainment. How they ever skated five or six nights a week like that is beyond me!! The fans in Philly are very demanding, and the Warrior team gave their all for their fans.
These were tremendous athletes. Roller Derby unlike other sports entertainment events could skate legit and did at times. They mastered their craft and the best at what the did. The thing that killed it was the over the top buffoonery. To me Judy Arnold was the best all around female Roller Derby skater. Weston whom I loved even gave Judy her props!!
Judy Arnold was the best for me
