Nobody did a better job of promoting the game than Walt Harris. I remember when they started showing the games on channel 9 NYC around 1970 Enjoyable watching with Walt at the Mike.
Would love to see more Eastern Warrior videos. I used to watch them back in the early 1970's. Lots of great memories watching them with my Dad on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon's. Oh, if I could ever go back to those days. Thank you for sharing these priceless gems.
Now this is childhood memories for me!! The Philadelphia Warriors at their finest!! Such a power packed team all around. So good to see this footage!!!!♥️👍🏾
We're having audio problems, the helmets were lost in transit, the clock stays at 6:10 and the production is a clusterF but other than that it's pretty good.
I’m a Roller Derby fan and this game shows why, Bud Atkinson throws a block backwards and the Warriors win instead of a penalty. I do miss roller derby
GREAT VIDEO IF PETER AND ED DERIAN HAD NOT PUT THERE OWN PICTURES UP THERE BLOCKING THE VIDEO. IF THEY CAN TAKE THERE PICTURES OUT OF THERE THEY SHOULD DO THIS BECAUSE THERE IS VERY LITTLE VIDEO OF THE WARRIORS EXIST FROM 1970-1971.
You're spending way too much time on instant replay missing out a lot of good action it just doesn't seem the way it used to be sure do miss the old roller derby I can remember when roller derby was announced by Walt Harris and even when it came on he would say it's time for a roller derby Thrills and Spills the world's fastest growing spectator sport in the world roller derby anyone else remember that? That was in the late '60s then after that they started playing the music when it first came on
But, Jerry, we remember ROLLER DERBY--not this poor imitation. Their games were always filled with "drama." A jammer could score by turning around and slugging someone. There was constant interference from both inside and outside of the track. All their games amounted to was nothing more than a running advertisement for an upcoming match race. It was so contrived it became a joke. I'll take the old Derby any day over this imitation that was nothing more than "professional" wrestling on skates.
@@donniehagy5125 you're absolutely right that's such a disorganized I don't know what you would call it yes free for all wrestling match or something no rules no regulations it's a bunch of garbage I can see why some of our favorite original Roller Derby Stars quit
@@jerryholston6536 And what's really a shame is "Games" had some really talented skaters! But they never tried to survive on their skating abilities--it was always the side show! And that brand of skating finally bled into the Derby, thus, ruining everything.
@@donniehagy5125 you're absolutely right you're absolutely right it's a crying shame and I've seen the modern stuff they've had on TV or whatever it it's not roller derby why sometimes I wish I could go back in time LOL
@@jerryholston6536 Right there with you bud! Hell, what now passes for Roller Derby is an absolute joke. First, it's ALL females, whose only concern is their "cute" nicknames. And, hell, it's skated ON A FLAT TRACK!!! I can only image what the likes of Calvello, Sandy Dunn, Lydia Clay, Joanie Weston, or Jan Vallow would do to these fools!!
What a joke these announcers are. They're not even at the game. They're in an office watching a game on film, and giving their commentary. Really weak.
Ed it's not Bomber jammers either. They're Chief Jammers. Listen closely to the so called technical difficulties with no audio. It's a pre played game Ed. Should had knew what team the Warriors were playing. It's not the Bombers either. New York or San Francisco.! OMG is this guy bad!
Agree after all these years I finally got to see why Ed Darrian never appealed to me. Constantly repeating himself even though these productions were done way before Games closed in 1975. Always technical difficulties. Also losing equipment in transit. Looking back @ this all now I know why I never cared for Games either. Yes they had their share of great Skaters Richard Brown was one of them too. Pas that rarely is it ever seen on the banked track when it came to Roller Games. Ed even looks bored. Peter Kelly was decent for a color commentator.
Honestly too that 1st jam with Richard Brown was just too much. Richard is quite a talented Skater too don't get me wrong. Though that 1st jam with Richard Brown passing all those Chiefs throwing nothing but air blocks. That was just another detrimental downfall of Games. Appears no real effort was made to block Richard Brown dancing with him literally.
Mike Gannon was pretty good. I used to see him team up with Larrry Lewis for the Games at the Kezar Sports Pavillion. Oh Little Richard! Look at that skating.
Walt Harris was the greatest sportscaster he always described the skating action precisely!!!
WALT HARRIS WAS INDEED THE BEST ANNOUNCER IN ROLLER DERBY.

Enjoyable watching with Walt at the Mike.
I remember the DC cats Ch. 20 WDCA Sat.Nites. Used to see them at the DC Collisum.
Always a NY Chiefs fan, thank you for sharing

Little Richard, Used to watch you every Sunday night n Channel 48 in Philadelphia, with Elmer Andrson announcing.
Philadelphia warriors & Texas outlaws 1972
We're having audio problems, the helmets were lost in transit, the clock stays at 6:10 and the production is a clusterF but other than that it's pretty good.
I agree. Try comparing these two "announcers" to Walt Harris. They are brutal.
I miss this the true rollerderby
"True roller derby" my ass. This was nothing more than a sideshow.
Me too!
I’m a Roller Derby fan and this game shows why, Bud Atkinson throws a block backwards and the Warriors win instead of a penalty. I do miss roller derby
Nice to see Little Richard Brown.

The sound proof booth was interesting to See though. I think Howard Cosell did it that way at times.

Skated in games style but love seeing my favorites skaters
I'll take the Rollerball remake...
Jonathan!
I personally meet the cats team shame there is no. Footage of them
Texas outlaws & warriors

This was popular before WWE took over
Where is my bou Elmer Anderson?
Los fantásticos Guerreros de Filadelfia.

Kezar Sports Pavilion? No such place.
