I’m from the hood in Louisiana and happily admit it. I also lived in Houston for almost 15 years in the S.W.A.T, Westchase, and the Galleria areas. I love my black people but I want them to know there’s more than the ‘hood. Ain’t nothing like riding through the ‘hood tho and seeing your peeps and hanging out.
Houston as a whole is getting worse. The city is getting crowded and crime is getting worse. I grew up in the southwest/Alief area and once I moved out, I never looked back.

Yep, that's why many folk don't understand the car culture here thus people having a a certain flashy or very kept car in their driveway or lawn. It has nothing to do with priorities being messed up. It's just a very enriched and engrained culture here to fir people to appreciate cars as if they are art.
Neighborhoods look like this is because the owners don't bother to get out and clean around their property to make look nice , this make look your Neighborhood bad .
Exactly born and raised here & I drive Uber @ night what does that tell you? The 1st 4:30 min was 5th ward J. Prince area, this was probably the 3rd area of settlement after slaves were free, 4th Ward (1st area) is west of downtown, really don't exist anymore due to all the expensive apartments/ clubs, slaves would either by freedom or run away and make it to Houston via Buffalo Bayou from plantations in the West. THE Whites DIDN'T LIKE LIVING BY BAYOUS/ WATER BACK THEN. I say that after visiting Niagara Falls, NY the hood is attached right to one of the Main Corridors leading into The Falls😮.Studewood (1st & 2nd area) West of 5th ward has the oldest school since 1893 Booker T, close to the Bayou, shotgun houses are practically gone. @ 4:31 is 3rd ward I see U of H Stadium in the background & SW Abt 2 lights down is TSU. Bloods/ Crisps was not here in the 80''s nor nearly almost the entire 90's, but guess what they all didn't pop out out the Ghettos most of these Negros came from air conditioned brick & wood frame homes or Apt. How U Gansta with a Central air Unit🤣🤣
Couple of signs you know you're definitely in the hood is when you see people standing outside the liquor store or neighborhood market and expensive cars.

Props to any child that comes out of these neighborhoods and lives a good successful life. Odds are definitely stacked against them.

I live in the suburbs of Houston, but it's some very rough areas in this city.
Me too. Gree up in Sugarland and stayed in Richmond/West Houston. Only time I've been in an area like this was by accident driving to U of H.
@god563616 yeah I live NE by the Beltway.

Now this is a certified neighborhood classic!
Wow, many of those homes are from the 1920's and 1930's always amazed me to see nice cars in front of NOT SO NICE homes.
You prefer to see run-down homes *AND* run-down cars in their driveway too? Can poor folks have anything nice?

@Remember-Death or it's a choice of financial freedom. Cash paid for home is great 😃

East and Southeast.

Why is the sky never blue in your videos!?
Because Houston is a nasty air polluted cesspool of smog 24 / 7. And I live on the east side next door to what the locals call Stinkadenna Pasadena.
What side of town is this?
