Something else that is very nutritious on sale at Thanksgiving time is sweet potatoes 🍠, 25 cents a pound. They store well, if done properly.

Meat properly wrapped lasts for years frozen..
I know of people eating chicken that was frozen over 10 years.

A few days ago I found a venison roast from 2015 all the way in the back of the freezer. It was double wrapped first in a gallon freezer bag with air sucked out and then in freezer paper. There was absolutely no freezer burn on it and neither flavor nor texture had suffered! 👍👍 Also took out some trout from three years ago, and it was still good. Again, double wrapped.
However, I do think fatty meats are more prone to suffer freezer burn more quickly.

@@andreamortimer2610 properly preserved food can last far longer than most people realize. As long as it smells and tastes fine, it usually is perfectly fine 🙂

@@storybrookefamilyfarm Totally agree with your statement! I find it amazing how quickly people tend to throw out perfectly fine foods. Btw, I bought five turkeys after Christmas and just this last week spiral hams were priced down to 89 cents a pound. I am foreseeing a canning party in my very near future 😉!
