The only thing I like more than the new construction is the salt on the forums, where people say that construction is simultaneously weak, too powerful, pointless, but also changing the flow of battle, all at the same time. It's glorious.
Toumal Rakesh for me the construction system is real good right now. It is expensive, but it gives active influence in a battle similar to a small coordinated team of fighter bombers. It can help turn around fights and is overall a super addition
PlanetSide 1 vet here. This video was extremely informative and I'm enjoying the learning curve of construction. It's adding a nice new element and way for my inherent engineer to contribute to the fight.
Thank you for the video! Once, i see superlucky orbital strike, there dude kill me, and around 15-20 vehicles, with total, 30-50 soldiers. Damn, it was totally stop our attack:)
Something very important that you should've mentioned: silos automatically unlock if they're holding more than 20,000 Cortium regardless of ownership settings.
i usually tell people to pull modules from deployed ANT's so the silo doesnt get drained as fast, fill up the silo first then pull your mods from the ANT
I've really been enjoying this update. Had a really nice fight the other day where the friendlies used my base as a staging point to push back into a base they'd just gotten kicked out of. I recorded most of it and I'm planning on putting a video of it up when I get a chance. A couple of notes: Silos actually already came with their own cost already in them. They just changed the cost from 1,000 to 2,000. Probably because of the increased drain. I usually buy the uplink, rather than the silo, while out mining, simply because it's the most expensive.
Thank you for this useful video. I was confused by the way the orbital strike targeting device worked and thought maybe I was going crazy when everything went black. Useful base building is tricky requiring a good sense of battle flow, timing, and appropriate construction object choice and placement. Can change the battle when done well. As someone who is not "ahem" the best shot in the world, I feel that I have a good shot at contributing through base building.
i found a very very good way of using the OS as TR. and that is against the NC last minute max crashes. i tend to play risky and put my orbital strike as close to a base as i can, right as this base start getting captured, ususaly relying on an armor collum instead of geological strongholds to protect myself. if the collum dies or the base is flanked its ded, but thankfully people mostly try to farm kills, so ignore the OS while it charges then, my goal is to wait until the countdown is at less than 40 seconds, where the NC ususaly start the max crash, and launch the strike near their spawn. it forces all the people to take cover inside buildings, and blinds them. maxes are slower and have a bigger chance of dying in the explosion. and even then the panic caused by it is more than enough to disrupt the push and make them lose enough time for my team to acheive the objective
This makes me wonder, what happens if a Bastion moves into range of an orbital strike? Would that heavily damage it? I know from personal experience that whoever flies into the orbital strike (or are the unwilling passenger of one, like say a Galaxy) they would die instantly. Sunderers with the shield and added health survive the blast better though.
Allowing Orbital Strike to hit bases is Huge for stalemates. Same for the Routing Pad. Huge impact on Capture & Defense. I'm looking forward to the next update :)
I'm a Vet, just used construction for farming and recently got into the stuff, like buying more equip for it and so on. I managed to put some decent bases up, sometimes in a small squad. Looked to protect myself with everything purchasable. If there is one gap, a tank can shoot through and you're alone, you're basically fkd if he/she keeps harrassing you. So I looked for the tightest spots on all continents, mountains, under bridges, etc. I took as much time as possible to place everything perfectly. When you fend off a few other vets, they decide to go near you, place a glaive, flail and basic defences like AA tower and just bumb your base into the ground within 2 minutes, even when you try to rep, replace structures. One can only build the same higby as they do or send a organzied squad. I regret every cert I spent on construction. Hives had some sense at least.
I run the main Base-building outfit on Emerald and I haven't even logged on since the new stuff got added. Might try it out soon, just having a lot of latency and other issues.. however I've been told our outfit is building a lot of stuff so I guess that's good.. Side note.. I love when everyone starts building on to the base and bringing cortium it feels so awesome to have everyone working together lol
16:37 "If you're bored of the same old grind, grind out 5k certs to try something different." No matter how much I play, I always feel short on certs. ._. Very informative video though, thank you.
Its been so long I honestly don't even remember what you start with, and how much you need to buy to be functional with construction. But yeah, not a terribly helpful guide if you don't already have most of it unlocked. :)
I hope they Add a constructable research facility that can apply upgrades and unique abilities. Would be nice to be able to research enhancements to base parts, vehicles spawned from constructed terms and special abilities for infantry from player made terminals. Always kind of wondered why the player constructable bunker couldn't also had a spawn tube inside it and a shield added to the door. with the inside become like the AoE anti-infintry hazard that gets you the "restricted area" message. Would also be nice to have building joints, so you are not forced to have a gap between your bunkers and your Rampart walls.
OH SHIT you're on connery! That example base you used to hit Ceres I was hanging about as a vanu stalker infil! You might see me about :D Love your videos man keep it up! :) FAILbro777
Old video but I just made a base and have the uplink and tool in hand but when I shoot nothing happens. I also noticed an orbital strike in the outfit armory that costs resources. Do I need both to use the orbital strike tool to work?
I have been interested in this aspect of the game recently. The idea of building a base that could potentially be used as a stronghold Brings me great nerd pleasure. Unfortunately things do cost a bit. And Time consuming as well. It would really feel like you lost something important if or when that did happen. Which is a good thing. Being a member I see opens alot of those construction options for you to get as well. Gonna be fun once I understand the basics other than farming cortium and taking it to the silo. Lol. Silo. Walls. Bunker. Tower guns. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
If you are just outside the blast radius, the best way to survive is to find a wall or something else vertical to stand against so the OS doesn't launch you into orbit. Vwalla, with this tip 90% should be able to avoid OS deaths if you're vigilant.

Reeee I saw a bunker those things are the devil spawn for bases unless they are very secure. If left unmatched an infiltrator can sneak in and hide there, hack the terminal and pull a max (keep in mind his friends can do the same). Now if u destroy the terminal there will always be that one engineer who reps it when u aren't looking. Even with no terminal like the tower and pillows (though the pillbox is smaller) allows them to hide in a well rounded hiding spot. (They are also available to everyone without having to unlock them)
Great video, I was curious about the flail. It'd be cool if it did have a slightly bigger cool down but also allowed for firing into bases. It couldn't kill people in buildings like the orbital strike but could still do something. Could be difficult to balance though.

Still make sure you have some primary class loadouts suited up and some decent vehicle upgrades too then maybe dabble in some of the construction items like sky shield and spawn tube. Dont buy everything yourself (unless you want to with DBC), let someone else come along and plant a OS/Flail/Glaive.

I don't use recursion but with this voiceoverlay (I believe its form Pacific Rim) I might use it oneday. I totaly forgot they added the E binding on the elysium tubes. Good to be reminded of it😅
Yay! I wish they changed the costs a little. Stuff like turrets and sunder garages should be like 500 certs and stuff like sky shields and turret ai should be 1000. This could let people try out the new system without such a major invest to get a better base. Plus how your small house going Cyrious?
I'm new to the Orbital Bombing and have two questions to prevent useless set Strikes: 1. Does the OS Pierce Sky-Shields? Some players tried to OS our base but deactivatet the shield via Glaive first. In your video it seems like you just annihilatet the base WITH the shield :D 2. Sometimes it looks like people aren't even safe INSIDE of buildings. So is it worth it using an OS on tan Building or is it only for drawn out Vehicle Battles or open top Bases? Thanks for every answer you Guys can Provide!
Hey there, Its hit or miss if the OS goes through the skyshield. NORMALLY it does, it doesn't always kill all of the stuff underneath though. But majority of the time it kills everything through the sky shield. The orbital strike kills everything non infantry in a building, engineer turrets, maxes, router pads, and any vehicles, but infantry are suppose to survive. It still mega EMPs them so it can help friendlies.
Thanks alot for all the answers! It still seems like it's not possible to build a base alone, because it get wiped out before it even reaches it minimum charge but that's still the inexperience as a new builder as I am. Keep on being so awesome. Love your Planetside content!
Its a logitech G600. I have pretty big hands, thats why I bought it, and it works really well for that. I am not a huge fan of the software though. I would probably give it a B-
I kinda want to see the Glaive and Flail be able to be deployed in non-build zones just so we can have some hellish WW1 style bombardment before charging a base......I just like seeing everything explode in a carpet bomb more than the orbital strike...
I volunteer to help if anyone has questions about construction as well. I've spent a lot of time with it, and know how most items works, and can give helpful tips for anyone interested.
Can anyone help me please, how do you lock your sillo to stop other people using every bit of cortium as I have just had it done to me some body put a vehicle sporn on my Base and a noob just spammed vehicles one after the other letting them crash in to each other and blow up using all of my cortium, I am not a happy chap.
Your silo auto locks to anyone not in your squad at 20,000 cortium. Everything above that you do not have control over, anyone can use it. :( All I can recommend is don't fill it up to much.
Hrmmm. I did not buy any of the bundles with DBC, but I did have a membership for awhile. If you have never had a membership, I would say its going to be quite a grind to unlock everything, and might not bother. Otherwise I would say get your Elysium spawn tube, unlock all of the modules, and the turrets. Then unlock the orbital strike, and you can have some fun.
When it's just you alone, is there a point to building fencing and gates, or should you just rely more on basic defenses and AI with a sky shield for your stuff? I'm finding I'm wasting a lot of time trying to build up defenses when it feels like I don't really need to. Especially with a more "close to the action" play style in building.
How can i give a friend the orbital strike tool? I saw that once in a video but i dont know how... My brother would love to fire a orbital but cant get one :D
I have never given it to a friend, so I don't know. But if you hold Q over your orbital strike, and make sure its unlocked (screen may not appear) Then have them pull the orbital strike tool from it, and they may be able to use it.
Okay, that's all well and good, but how do I *break* the damned things? I wander right up to these bases as a heavy or light assault, shoot a couple of things, and... half the time it doesn't even do damage, even using C4. Wtf do I have to do to break this stuff?
You need to be certain there are no "Repair Modules" nearby them, break those first. If not, these things still have so much health, you are better off grabbing a tank and shooting at them for awhile than trying to do it as infantry.
Construction is much better now. Still hate the fact that it requires a huge investment in certs so it isn't as appealing to new players. As it is, tho.. its SO much better
So, what you're saying is, infiltrators can now scout out the area of a playermade base, see its weak spot, call in an airstrike, and blow it to kingdom come? wow.
Can't find your first video that you said to go back and watch. Searched your channel for "construction" but only find the later video that you make a few months after this one, but no video before

Its a logitech G600. I have pretty big hands, thats why I bought it, and it works really well for that. I am not a huge fan of the software though. I would probably give it a B-
thanks :)
Good job on the guide, I feel informed.
Great! Than I consider it a success.
Yus! Been waiting for this vid :3
Hey, how can I lock my Silo?
which is the command to move away and approach the constructions before fixing them
Don't know on that one, sorry man.
How does one get a Glados stat updater? Or any, for that matter.
Recursion Stat Tracker, will do a tutorial on it in the future.
been watching your works thanks alot, i was wonder which server to play on just getting started on the game.
Hey there man, I am on the Connery server and I play as Terran Republic there.
Been playing TR as medic and sniper keep supporting my team i got bit of cert but don't know which upgrade route should i take on my medic
Can you try doing a video on sunderer certs guns and placements?
9:11 LOL RIP TEAMMATES
SoulKiLGhost he did a 9:11
At this moment he knew
*he fucked up*
I love theese changes.
How does ownership of the Flail, Glave, and OS. Can only the builder pull the targeting guns? Or can anyone fire them?
As I understand it, it is only the owner. Whoever places the item is the only one that can pull the targeting device.
Does opposing factions see the radius of your flail or orbital strike?
How does XP and kill count towards AI turrets and people building off of someones base? If so how does that apply when someone logs off?
Can anyone help me please, how do you lock your sillo to stop other people using every bit of cortium as I have just had it done to me some body put a vehicle sporn on my Base and a noob just spammed vehicles one after the other letting them crash in to each other and blow up using all of my cortium, I am not a happy chap.
Your silo auto locks to anyone not in your squad at 20,000 cortium. Everything above that you do not have control over, anyone can use it. :( All I can recommend is don't fill it up to much.
Thank you for the reply and the exerlent videos
Im tempted to buy the os first now cuz of the Holy shit at the beginning lol
hey Cyrious i was wondering if it is even worth getting into base building if you are a f2p player. if so what should i invest in first?
Which vechile should i use as solo player?is a solo harasser viable?the lightning is so expensive :(
A solo harasser is viable, you just have to be smart about how you park it.
Cyrious Gaming i just rather went with a repair / ammo sundie and loving it :D
When it's just you alone, is there a point to building fencing and gates, or should you just rely more on basic defenses and AI with a sky shield for your stuff? I'm finding I'm wasting a lot of time trying to build up defenses when it feels like I don't really need to. Especially with a more "close to the action" play style in building.
I’m mad at myself cause getting the orbital strike has been so easy this whole time and I never knew it lol
Hey Cyrious, do you ever play as the Vanu Sovereignty?
I do have a vanu character, he is only about BR 40 right now, but yes I do play some.
How do you move construction item away or move closer to you ??
Hold left and right mouse buttons at the same time.
He answered below, but my original construction video goes over all the controls.
How can i give a friend the orbital strike tool? I saw that once in a video but i dont know how... My brother would love to fire a orbital but cant get one :D
I have never given it to a friend, so I don't know. But if you hold Q over your orbital strike, and make sure its unlocked (screen may not appear) Then have them pull the orbital strike tool from it, and they may be able to use it.
what is the name of that music in start?
Extra #4 from the soundtrack
the range of the orbital strike resets. and the cooldown of it is 15 min?
THat is correct. If you don't oribital strike at max range, it doesn't reset all the way to zero.
Cyrious Gaming lol I like the double negative in your comment XD
9:08 totally worth it
thanks for the updated tutorial

Okay, that's all well and good, but how do I *break* the damned things? I wander right up to these bases as a heavy or light assault, shoot a couple of things, and... half the time it doesn't even do damage, even using C4. Wtf do I have to do to break this stuff?
You need to be certain there are no "Repair Modules" nearby them, break those first. If not, these things still have so much health, you are better off grabbing a tank and shooting at them for awhile than trying to do it as infantry.
how do you get that voice announcer? guide?
Here is the guide: ua-cam.com/video/8XImO6ul1gg/v-deo.html
Notice that the tracker is mostly broken since the recent patch.
How do you unlock the orbital strike for use by other people?
I don't think you can. Only the builder can use it.
I figured it out, you hold Q on it and you can change the usage rights like with other built objects such as turrets or silos.
Construction is much better now. Still hate the fact that it requires a huge investment in certs so it isn't as appealing to new players. As it is, tho.. its SO much better
Orbital strikes are just wonderful for harrassing mindless zergs...
I love this new mechanic ^^
I would have liked a dedicated interactive artillery vehicle for each faction . These ordanance strikes seem tooo ez 2 use
So, what you're saying is, infiltrators can now scout out the area of a playermade base, see its weak spot, call in an airstrike, and blow it to kingdom come? wow.
Yes
I’ve been wondering for a really long time now on how I can get the orbital strike
Can't find your first video that you said to go back and watch. Searched your channel for "construction" but only find the later video that you make a few months after this one, but no video before
