Hey Lucy, I just want you to know that I was super overweight a few months ago. I started running in April, and I have been watching every video you post. I have lost 85 pounds and just completed my first half-marathon. You have a real impact on people. I hope you know that.
Hey! Woooow!! That’s amazing 🙌🏼 Congratulations on your first half marathon! 🥳 I am so happy you found my channel and it’s helped. You’ve worked so hard and achieved so much 💪🏼
Who do I think I am?! 😆 To be fair there was a lot of standing and waiting for him to move on so there wasn’t much walking happening 😂 Thank you so much!
Hi Lucy! I'm a new virtual running buddy starting off around the same place that you did. I just wanted to thank you for being the creator I was looking for on UA-cam. I find watching people train to be very motivating, but it can be frustrating as a chubby girl who hates running (until it's done and I can't wait to go back and do it again) to listen to extremely fast and unrealistically athletic people give advice that doesn't necessarily apply to me. You are such an encouragement and one of the reasons I have such a lofty goal of running a half marathon. I struggle to run two miles without stopping right now, but I know you felt the same way and powered through. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Hi 😀 I’m so happy you found me! I understand 1000% where you’re coming from. I did (and still do lol) need to see people like me getting out there and succeeding 🏃🏻♀️ I am certain you will get to that half marathon and when you do you will be so proud of yourself. I’m totally rooting for you! 🥳🙌🏼
Reading through these comments and from videos of other creators I watch, it seems like a lot of people took November off running due to illness or other circumstances (me included). Wishing everyone a safe, healthy December with lots of good running days.
Oh my goodness Lucy! Walking around Disney and universal parks is more than enough exercise, no need at all to be getting up early on holiday! Hope you enjoyed it!
The hardest part is often just getting out the door and doing it! Each day you miss a run, the self doubt builds up, which make you less likely to run the next day! You did the best thing, break the cycle get out and do it! Once you’re out there it’s like “Why did I leave it till now..!” Top job to break the cycle! 👍👍👍
Exactly what I needed. I’ve took a week off running outside (on a treadmill instead) because it’s too cold, and now 4 days off because feeling ill… now I’ve convinced myself that I won’t be able to run outside without it being painful…. Thanks for the motivation again!! Much needed!
So glad I found your channel! It’s the journey I needed to see ❤️ Started my running journey in February and ran my first marathon in October! You’re videos where a source of motivation! 🏃♀️Thank you x
This is exactly how my brain works. I went back to my biking. I was running with you back in October but have struggled with bronchitis. Hopefully I am over it and start again.good job.😊
Hi Lucy, I had a similar experience this morning. I haven't run in anger since Endure24 in July, the odd few times here and there. I started again in October, got a week into it and then got Covid which with my asthma made me short of breath for 4 weeks and as a consequence of feeding my fever I have put on a fair chunk of the 4 stone I lost last year. I was dreading starting again, looking for excuses, weather, work, whatever but today for the first time I actually felt like running. Ok I didn't do 10k, I did 3.5k but it felt good, I think I have the bug again and I have even started watching my favourite weight loss, fitness and running UA-cam channels again (yours included) which helped me to my weight loss and fitness goals last year. Keep doing what you are doing!
Hi 😀 Looking for the excuses is so relatable for me lol. I was just so fed up of being fed up in the end and even the icy weather couldn’t keep me in. A 3.5k is fantastic! You smashed it and got out there 🏃🏻♀️🙌🏼
Girl no matter what don't stop 🙏❤️ believe me you are my motivation as well as many others!!!❤❤❤ You give me hope 💗💗💗💗 I needed this I also have been on the struggle bus!! Thank you for coming back!!!
@@lucyshawvlogs you are welcome 🤗😁 I am no longer allowed to run however I can most definitely walk!! I have had to recreate a whole new me due to being restricted it's very hard and really discouraging to me so yes you definitely inspire me and motivate me to keep going
Just found & subscribed to your channel today. I haven’t run in months but I just got back on it today, thanks for the inspiration! Gonna go catch up on all of your previous videos!
Hi Lucy! Just started watching/subscribing - massive congrats on your journey! And well done for getting back to running after a month off. I lost 4 stone a few years ago, though gradually I've put a lot of it back on and stopped running altogether. It's very frustrating/disheartening. BUT I'm feeling motivated to pick up and start my journey all over again. This time I'd like to concentrate on building a way to maintain fitness/healthy eating and not slip back into old habits. Anyway just wanted to say you've motivated me to get going - let's do this!
Hi Lucy! Orlando is great...good for you. Thanks for sharing your true self with us! You are such an inspiration...They have a few Disney running events there...we have relatives in Mt. Dora (near Orlando) and will be signing up for one of those next year...it would be GREAT to see you there!!!
Glad you enjoyed your trip! We live in Orlando, a short drive from the parks. I enjoy watching your videos. I haven’t run much the last two years due to having babies, but I plan to get back at it when I get the all clear from my Doctor.
Oh that’s awesome. I would be in the parks everyday if I lived a short drive away 😅 I’m so happy your enjoying my videos. That’s great you want to get back to running 🏃🏻♀️
Straight back with a 10k,Nice! For different reasons i barely ran in November, starting with injury and then a really bad cold also. I had built running as an absolute habit so i knew exactly when i run and don't have to even think about it,(works well for me!)and its all gone out the window! Ran 3 times last week for first time in month(been 4 every week for well over a year) but still only a max of 5 miles for me since injury following a hilly trail race.
I wasn’t expecting to get a 10k done 😆 I hope your injury is better and you get your routine back soon. Must be so annoying to not be able to get out like you usually do!
I feel you so much with feeling guilty about not running and being nervous about going back. I twisted my ankle a couple of weeks ago and it still hurts occasionally, so I'm wary of going on a run now, but I also feel guilty about not going and I know it would be so good for my mental health. Thank you for sharing your struggles, it's so relatable.
Please done feel guilty! You’ve got a hurt ankle and it would be awful if it got worse from a run. I would get back to running in a gentle way, no pressure, slow runs to start ❤️
Gosh! I so understand! I have a leg in a moon boot as injury still not healing. Could be hairline fracture or ligament🤷♀️. But no running now for 2months! I have now put on 3kg. I know this isn’t forever but I hate being so inactive. I could do relate to what you were saying. And boy did it look cold out there! Heading into summer here and hay fever season. Always nice to know others are struggling or have struggled. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone though. 😊 Keep up good work. 🎉
Oh you poor thing! I hope you’re not in an pain ❤️ Don’t worry about any weight gain (I know that’s easy for me to say!) it’s just part of the journey. Everyone is struggling but making it look easy 😉 Thanks 😊
@@lucyshawvlogs thanks Lucy💕 It’s just a pain up rear. I just feel like every muscle has gone to jelly! But I hear you. 😊. Glad you had a great break away. Time of refreshing for you and your lovely family 💕
So excited to find your vlogs. I’ve been looking for inspiring women to motivate me to keep running. I have no big aspirations to run any races and I mostly run for physical and mental health. Literally the only formal run I would be interested in would be a Disney 5K or 10k … so I was very excited to hear that you are a Disney fan 😊
I’m so happy you’re enjoying my channel 😀 I love your reasons for running, it has been such a positive for my mental health. Running a Disney race would be a dream!! 🏃🏻♀️😄
Hi Lucy! I used your videos for inspiration during my 50k training this summer and I really enjoy them. I completed 50k in mid October and I’ve barely run since. I’m using this one to get out there today and get it done!!
Thank you Lucy!!!! As always I love your videos, you're so motivating and inspiring !!!!! Thank you so so much and I'm so happy you had an amazing time in the US 😘
I really need to motivate myself to start my training for the London marathon in April. I’m finding running when it’s bitterly cold outside is really hard, but I have been doing park runs. I think I’m just going to do the runs you used to do and run for as long and as far as I can before I feel too tired or sore.
Lucy, i really needed this video! I finished my couch to 5k plan in JUNE, yes, JUNE! And i pretty much haven't run since. I want to get back out running but i have no idea what to wear now that the weather is colder. If i wrap up warm, i overheat 5 mins into my run, but if i wear light layers I'm too cold at the start of the run. Could you give me some advice please on what to wear to run in the winter?
Knowing what to wear can be so annoying! Especially in the winter 🥶 I have ran in the winter before and it’s all been trial and error for what works for me lol. I get really hot when I run so if I can deal with being cold at the start then anything long sleeve tends to work well for me. Maybe I’ll make a video on it? 🤔
Thank you for this video i just had a week off running due to a chest infection and i will probably need another week to recover. I feel like i am just going to loose all my hard work x
You’ll be absolutely fine to have a couple weeks off. Sometimes a long rest is actually really good for your running 😀 When I’m training for long distances I always take a long rest period before the race. You’re gonna smash it on your first run back! 🙌🏼
Do you run the entire winter season outdoors? I'm trying to push myself to run all year but every winter I stop and unfortunately I don't have a treadmill so I restart my running journey when the cold is less intense. Any tips on how to just power through cold runs or what can be done to keep the conditioning of running for those of us with no treadmills?
I run all year round. Once I started running outside I sold my treadmill which forced me to run in all the seasons lol. The only time the weather stops me is if it’s going to be dangerous, like slipping on ice ect. The best thing I did was force myself to go and then noticed that each season has its pros and cons. So I try to focus on the pros and know that the cons are not going to last forever. I hope that helps 🙈
Wow, that's amazing. Ok, so I just need to power through it my BF powers through it and runs all seasons as well. Thanks for the insight I just need to stop letting the weather rain on parade and progress thanks
If I hadn't gotten covid a second and third time, I would have been in better shape. Now, I am working on getting off the weight I regained that I had lost. It hasn't stopped me running as running is my life. It isn't a hobby. It is much more than that. Even my family will tell you that. 😂 Keeping putting those trainers on. I will either be running on the pavements or using the treadmills when it is too cold for my lungs. Like Queen says, "Don't stop me now, cause I'm having a good."
