I had a 2018 Pacifica Limited as a lease vehicle, so I had to return it in August. I got a 2012 Odyssey now. Not as much technology, it got 130k miles right now, but drives and shifts absolutely smoother than a 2018 Pacifica at 45k miles. We noticed right away the seats are much comfortable. The way Honda handles the road, Chrysler can't be even close. We got tired on a long trips, but not on a Honda.

@Vinod Venkataraman Wow. We now actually just bought a 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite 2 weeks ago. We can not get enough of the comfort, ergonomics, how everything is thought out to the smallest detail and how it behaves on the road, power, etc. This is absolutely another step up! Still was comparing to Pacifica and and once again, I conclude that they are so far very far away to that level.

If I have to take a seat 1x, I’ll never get anything other than a Chrysler van. I don’t think you mentioned it, but Chryslers can stow n go in seconds and fit 4x8 sheets of drywall/plywood etc. and close the hatch. Which means I’m rainy weather, a Chrysler can get those sheets home dry where 90% of trucks can’t unless you have an 8ft bed and a toneau cover too

Rented one to go to DisneyWorld with family and put 2,400 miles on it in a week. Bought a new 2021 Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Limited about 3 weeks later because we liked it so much. I got over 1,100 miles with the first fill-up. If you charge it overnight on a standard 110 outlet, you get 32-34 miles on pure electric. It's amazing how that adds up and saves gas. On gas in hybrid mode, for longer trips, it gets just over 30 MPG. My MPG, combined with the electric driving, is averaging 61 MPG. I never have to sweat out range because the engine kicks in when the battery power is exhausted. The vehicle has plenty of power in either mode and much more room and comfort than an SUV. I never thought I would purchase, or even consider, a minivan. But this seems to be the perfect combination of efficiency and comfort with lots of storage space when needed. Plus, it came with every driver assist and safety function, including a world-class audio system with CarPlay.

    Random comments:
    - my current FWD Odyssey is great in the snow. I wouldn't even think of AWD unless I was in hilly terrain which I am not. Don't need the extra complexity, repair costs nor added $$ sales price.
    - I'll take 19' tires than 20' and a better ride. No contest. Give me 18" tires & better the ride. Auto companies are forcing larger tires across the board trading off ride quality.
    - agree that the Honda exterior is not pleasing to the eye. Horrible styling.
    - rather than diss Honda's ECO mode claim, say what it is that they are claiming. And wouldn't it make sense to have the eco mode option if on a highway trip?
    - my family has already voted, Honda's second row seats win hands down. Who cares if I have to remove them a couple of times a year. Those sitting in the back would much rather have the more comfortable seats.

To me, there is absolutely NO way I choose a Chrysler over a Honda or Toyota for that matter. Seen too many poor quality Chrysler cars and Vans thru the years. Poor gas mileage too. Had many friends with these cars and the mileage is never near whats on the sticker. Just saw a 3 year old Challenger rusting around the real quarters. Pass Pass Pass.

I was going to say the Pacifica is like putting lipstick on a pig, may look pretty but in 5 years when nothing works and its broken done and only worth $10K and you paid $55k when the Honda will run perfectly to 400,000 miles. Don't see any reason for saying I'd buy a Pacifica over the odyssey.

All I want is mechanical reliability. The Pacifica did look better. But we use the Honda sliding seats much more often than the sto n go Pacifica seats.

Unless you absolutely 100% NEED the stow'n'go seats, then get the Pacifica Hybrid. By far the best minivan ever created. You get the best of both worlds too with the plug-in EV driving. For all your short trips, you are on EV, but you still have the 500+ mile range of the ICE engine if you need the long distance and you'll get 30mpg minimum. Best we did was 2,550 miles (not a typo!) on a single tank of gas thanks to doing most driving in EV mode (and still had 1/4 tank left)!
Bonus, if you get the hybrid you can get $7,500 back federal tax credit in the US, making it cheaper than the competition.

I was wanting to buy a Pacifica Hybrid so bad ever since it came out years ago since it's (still) the only plug-in hybrid minivan game in town. Kept an eye on reliability throughout the years, and even at the most reliable (2020) it's a 2/5 Consumer Reports reliability score. Honda is 5/5 so I guess I'll eat the mileage to not have all the cool electronic stuff fail, or worse, get my family stranded on the side of the road.

I guess I need an advice from an actual professional at this point. I have been driving Odyssey 2010 for a couple of years. It has almost 150000 miles on it. Drives really smooth so far. No issues what so ever. We have a son with special needs. One of those needs is he is on a wheel chair. He is getting bigger and heavier so we decided to sell this van and get something newer. Eventually we shall add a lift gate for his wheel chair. If anyone of you has something similar going on, I would appreciate the advice. What is the best option in my case: Pacifica, Odyssey or Sienna. The entire 3 raw will be gone as it will be used for his wheel chair access. Upfront we shall seat our other 3 kids. I will need to get something that will be very durable and will last me at least as much as this Honda lasts so far. I would also prefer more or less gas efficient vehicle. It is just wearing out slowly but surely, I guess. Plus my Odyssey 2010 does consume bunch of gas. Installing all the equipment on old Odyssey and then re-assembling it once it hits 250000 miles plus just does not make any sense to me. I would highly appreciate an honest and friendly advice. Thanks much.

A Pacifica Limited AWD would have been a better comparison. Closer to the Honda's price and with the Stow and Go 2nd row seats. That one feature would keep me from going Pinnacle. To have a comfortable van with all the toys and be able to convert it into a hauler of lots of stuff in a couple of minutes, AND with AWD, then Bob's your uncle.

Great job btw, just one thing you said that if you wanna save the most gas you can't buy a Pacifica, but with the hybrid, you could use no gas if your day trip is no more then 30 miles a day. Or up to 80mpg if you use both gas and electricity. So technically in lots of real life situations, the Pacifica can be bought to be the most fuel efficient van on the road.

If you haven't driven either, then respectfully, please shut your cake 'oles. My main concern remains with FCA's appalling overall reliability record for their vehicles. However, I have read a far better than average for the Pacifica. Would people that own the Pacifica. please comment how you have found the reliability? Another problem, is that FCA's reliability record means low residual value. Lastly, both lower trim versions use the bad 9 speed ZF auto box, any current owners want to comment on that box? Is it as bad as the reports say (Alex on Autos and Savage Geese for example)?

We bought the 22 Pacifica, daughter and her husband bought a 22 Honda, both retailed about 42k so both lower trim. My opinion is Chrysler much louder way more road noise, Honda feels much more bolted together, Honda came with a spare, I’d have never bought the Chrysler if I’d known it didn’t have a spare tire! Honda also has a power passenger seat and sun roof. Now I’ll have a 40lb. bullet, a after market spare with no way to secure it in the back. GET THE HONDA, we made a bad decision!!!😡

Took months and they kept my car over a week without lending me a loaner car. They only repainted the panels that were peeling so if it starts peeling again they said "oh well". It was specifically with the white orchid pearl color, and this paint has been retired - but still very disatisfied that my brand new car started peeling and rusting despite no accidents ever at 25k miles

A few things here. Yes...Pacifica is the nicer of the two (probably the nicest minivan on the market) in terms of aesthetics. However...if you're only going to drive it 100,000 miles and then get a new one then fine....but if you want a van that will just go and go for forever then you go with a Toyota or Honda. Simple. Chrysler is the worst American Car company (except for Jeep...which is where all of their money comes from and goes out to developing). The 4 wheel plug-in hybrid for the Pacifica is super enticing...but you cannot trust it. It's their first real hybrid (outside of that really really bad SUV from a decade ago).
Anyhow. It would be great if Chrysler figured out how to build great, long lasting engines and transmissions. But they don't. Until then. Buy a Toyota.

Honda never discounts while Chrysler always put cash in the hood. That transaction price difference would be more than enough to cover a major repair compared to the Honda.
