I'm so glad that Jenn inspired Kelly and that Kelly inspired you Kristina....and so glad you didn't give up on this gorgeous background you created. It's absolute perfection! You've now inspired me to go for it as well. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week. ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters
Love the soft colors you achieved. This technique certainly gives you more control over the placement of metallics versus using alcohol metallic mixatives. Nice take on Kelly's version for a gorgeous card!
This is a gorgeous card! I love the soft colors and the gold foil just pops off the card. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your amazing talent with all of us.
Love the colors. I tried this after watching Kelly. I used a little bit is zig glue to add foil to spots that had dried where I wanted some foil. So much fun.
I love your color combination! I saw Kelly's video a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the technique. I used it for several birthday cards and will be teaching a class with it next month. I'll add your color combination to my repertoire! I've also done this technique on transparent acrylic and then mounted it over white or cream card stock. So dramatic! I think Ranger has seen an up-spike in their alcohol ink sales, lol, but not good timing because of the production problems with the bottles. Maybe the increased sales will encourage them to solve the problem sooner. Thanks for the inspiration. This really is a beautiful card.
What an awesome card! I will have to try to do the same thing. I love my alcohol inks so this will be fun. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week.
Kelly inspired me too. It's such a beautiful result. I used multicolored foil as well as the gold. I want to try freezer paper as mentioned in a comment below. Thanks for sharing your work.
Beautiful card, Kristina! My favorite way to use alcohol inks is what I first saw Tim Holtz do but I want to try this though because I love the gold foil!
Use a straw to blow the color around. Vicki P. on UA-cam is amazing with this. She also does this foil technique with the leftover stickiness from the alcohol inks.
I tried this alcohol ink with foil technique, it's fun and makes a beautiful background! TFS. My only problem came when I went to stamp on it. Do you have any tips for getting a good impression? I used an embossing buddy, dye based ink and a TH stamp platform......no matter how many times I stamped, it left a partial impression, in different spots, like it was actually picking up the ink. I should have known when you used a die cut.
I had tried this the other night, also inspired by Kelly's video. Apparently, I forgot the part where you can't let it sit for several hours to dry and still expect it to be sticky, because my panel was totally stick-less! Oh well--good to know where I went wrong so I don't go there again. Thanks for the reminder! :) Love how your background came out, and the gold die cut greeting is perfect with it. Another good surface to work on with alcohol inks is freezer paper, with the slick side up. I suppose you could do it paper side up as well, though. It doesn't let the ink soak through to your work surface anyway. I got that tip from Nina-Marie Trapani. Lots of "cross-pollination" of ideas going on in the crafty world these days--love it! :)
Andrea La Vigne You could add some stick after it dries too. A glue that dries tacky works best, like the type of glue you use with gilding flakes, but I’ve had success with craft glue (e.g. Cosmic Shimmer) also. Just put the glue where you would like to foil, wait until it is no longer wet but still tacky and then apply the foil. Gives you more control of where the foil goes too, which could be a good thing 😊
I watched Kellys video too and was thinking of trying dark blue with small touches of the green to get a lapis effect... couldnt find my blue though:(. It does look great though and perfect for a mans card♥
Hey, is this same as heat transfer foil? Can't seem to find in India. Only gold imitation leaf seems to be available on amazon.. so asking :) love this art and really want to try my hand at it
Kristina, what do you know about working safely with the alcohol ink and blending solution? I’ve heard that the products are very toxic. I have these products, and want to be sure I use them safely for my health and that of my family and pets.
Mari Clarke you should be in a ventilated area when you use them. I open the windows by my craft table and turn the fan on. I also use gloves while I’m using them but mostly because they really stain your hands if you get it on your hands. They are also flammable so keep them away from fire. I am not sure about toxicity to pets.
Love this technique. Do you have to wait for a time before putting foil down, or is just partially heat setting adequate enough to have the foil stick? I’ve seen several videos and everyone seems to have a different method but yours looks so easy. Love this card too.
I mostly used the heat tool to blow air on it to make the inks move (could have also just used a straw and blown air through it). I think when the inks stop moving completely + 30 seconds or so is probably the ideal time to stick the foil on it. But you really do have to experiment.
I don't really explain much about the yupo paper in this video. Essentially, it's a synthetic paper that allows the alcohol ink to keep moving a bit. It has a very smooth surface, too. I've only ever used alcohol inks on Yupo and haven't branched out from it because I love it so much. :)
Is it just me .... just before you use the heat tool the firs time it looks like a face with an ear, eyelashes and an ugly mouth and chin... am I going mad..lol xx
very rich and vibrant with the colors...I love the way the gold chips on the paper showed up too.............pat
love Kelly!!! And yourself of course. She is such a funny lady.
This is gorgeous! I never would have thought to put the two together. The veining is stunning.
An absolutely stunning card, Kristina! 😍

Gorgeous. Love the addition of foil. I didn’t know the foil would stick like it did. Thank for all your inspiration.

Gorgeous card. The technique looked fairly easy. Thanks for the video. Love the gold foiling.
This is a gorgeous card! I love the soft colors and the gold foil just pops off the card. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your amazing talent with all of us.
That card really turned out so pretty, great!!
Another beautiful card Kristina. I have to tell you, you ALL inspire me! Thanks for sharing all that you do!
Love the colors. I tried this after watching Kelly. I used a little bit is zig glue to add foil to spots that had dried where I wanted some foil. So much fun.
This is beautiful! Have not tried using alcohol inks with the foil...but I will now. Lovely effect.
Thanks so much.
I can't wait to try this !! I LOVE the marbleing with the foil! Just beautiful! Thank you Kristina !!
Beautiful, love that u kept it airy. I saw Kelly's video and just did this about 1.5 weeks ago
I love that marble look. I see it everywhere now but I’m not complaining! I’ve even seen it in deserts.
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you
FABULOUS IDEA for foil! Thank you!
So cool. I'd never seen the technique of combining alcohol inks with foiling. Lovely effect. Thank you.
Simply a GORGEOUS card! I LOVE Kelly! I subscribe to her as well. Never miss any of her videos ❤❤❤
A beautiful card. thanks for sharing

This is my favorite thing to do with alcohol inks by far!! I love the soft look you got with the alcohol ink. This card is so beautiful ❤️
Wow! Gorgeous😍

Wow! This is a gorgeous card! I need to dust off my alcohol inks & try this stunning technique! TFS!
This is soooo cool looking! I gotta try it. Thx for showing "how to" and thanks for sharing. ; )
Oh my gosh! I will have to try this!! So cool!!
Beautiful effect. Thanks for sharing!
So beautiful! Funny thing... I found myself tilting my iPad to help you move the ink around, hehehe.
Use a straw to blow the color around. Vicki P. on UA-cam is amazing with this. She also does this foil technique with the leftover stickiness from the alcohol inks.
Love Kelly! Always worth watching other videos you can add deco foil glue on scrunched paper and add more gold that way if not enough

Hermoso , me encanta
I had watched Kelly's video and was very inspired also. I have the supplies, just need to get over my fear of using the inks.
Julie Detlefsen they are addictive so make sure you have enough yupo paper or photo paper (using the back of it).

Well, why didn't I think of that??? I have done that before on other projects--just never thought of it with this. Thanks so much for the tip! :)

Stunning! Tfs
wow...that's pretty...

Almost to 400K!
So lovely!!!
I Karen!
I would also put the inner circles inside “O”, "R" “D” and "A", but it works like that too 😉
Marina
I meant Hi Kristina 😃
Sorry! The keyboard fault 😃
Love the background, it's really pretty! Are the inner bits from the die-cut missing (the O, R, D & A)?
I just didn't want to deal with adhering them.
K Werner Design that’s a cute look!
This is gorgeous. What paper are you using?
I believe I used Yupo. It should be linked in the video description under Supplies.
Can you do more things with Alcohol ink. Thankyou
Kristina, what do you know about working safely with the alcohol ink and blending solution? I’ve heard that the products are very toxic. I have these products, and want to be sure I use them safely for my health and that of my family and pets.

If you want to use a spray with them, never put the blending solution in a spray bottle. You can use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle though.

K Werner Design thank you.
Did you put the foil on wet alcohol ink?
No, it has to be fairly dry to get the stick it needs. The stickiness comes from the build up of ink. That’s why you only get it on the edges.
amazing- what more can i say?
Does anybody know if this would work with Minc Foil
Yupo paper? Hoping she explains further....let's listen...
I don't really explain much about the yupo paper in this video. Essentially, it's a synthetic paper that allows the alcohol ink to keep moving a bit. It has a very smooth surface, too. I've only ever used alcohol inks on Yupo and haven't branched out from it because I love it so much. :)
Cyn Hatmaker I got mine from Dick Blick Art Supplies online. I bought the large pad so I could have more variety by cutting it down it needed.🦋
You can also use glossy card stock.
Cyn Hatmaker I use Ranger yupo paper a plastic form of paper works great with alcohol inks they need time to dry very cool effects
I wonder if you are working on a larger piece, if you could use foam board? Hmm
Thx Kristen! I've got a LOT to catch up on!
Hello
Is it just me .... just before you use the heat tool the firs time it looks like a face with an ear, eyelashes and an ugly mouth and chin... am I going mad..lol xx
Oh no that hideous greeting ruined it.
Oh no, your hideous comment ruined the comment section.
Lovely card, and lovely reply. I didn’t know this technique. TFS
Lol K Werner you beat me to it!
I literally LOL-ed at this.
Way to go Kristina! Couldn't have said it better.
Beautiful!
