Glad your son is feeling better. Funny story...when my son was around 3 and sick he asked me and my husband for a case. We looked at each other trying to figure out what he was asking for. He again asked for a case, this time more urgently...we had no clue! Then he started heaving and I ran to the bathroom to get the large tupperware bowl for him to throw up in...which he did. Afterwards he said "thanks for the case", and then I put it together!! In the past whenever he was sick I would always give him the bowl and say to him "just in case". Funny how kids interpret things. Beautiful cards...as always!
Late to the game but your story made me laugh. My daughter at around age 5 after having just been through her worst case of the flu and the incessant throwing up episodes asked a couple days later out of the blue, “Do you throw up in heaven?” Lol, the things children piece together in their rationale.
It is odd how the UA-cam algorithm works. This just popped up for me today-July 2020. Loved your backgrounds, loved your cards. Your story rang a bell for sure. One night we had a similar bout with my now 44 year old son, ran out of sheets, pajamas, cleaning the carpet, washing sheets-it is funny the things that you remember.
Wow! The vellum cards are the most gorgeous cards I think I've seen. I would not have ever thought of using flowers with the alcohol inks and the vellum provides the perfect transition between the two.
These backgrounds are lovely. Thanks for sharing. Glad your son is better. My kids are all in their 50's and 60's, but I well remember the stress when they were ill.
I love your cards! Sorry you missed your fun weekend, but family always comes first. I am glad your son is feeling so much better! I understand having sick kids when you want to do something other than taking care of sick kids. I always believe that when it happens it was for the better cause we don't know what it would of happened if you went then something more could of happened that it could of been worse. The colors and the different ways you made your alcohol inks yupo paper was super lovely. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.
These are just the most beautiful cards ever. I just love how bright and vibrant they are and the coloring of your flowers match exactly. I remember the days of being up with a sick one. My son is now 25 but even now when he gets sick I still want to take care of him. I guess that's just the mom in us. A couple of weeks ago he had all 4 of his wisdom teeth pulled and he needed his momma, so he got babied. No matter how old they get they're still our babies. Bummer that you missed your monster truck event. I hope your little Peanut is feeling much better.
What a beautiful compilation of cards ! Thank you for taking the time to share these with us, especially during such a stressful momma weekend. I’m excited about dragging out my alcohol inks now and not so overwhelmed!
WOW! Every single one of those cards is stunningly gorgeous! And I love the way you coordinated the flowers with the backgrounds. Outstanding, Kelly. I’m so sorry your baby was ill, bless his little heart. It’s bad enough that you have to worry and fret about him feeling so rotten, but then to also have to deal with all the rest it. No rest for the weary...
Great commentary! Your cards are stunning. I love the "calming" effect with vellum, using sequins to hide additional spots of glue and the idea of taking the coloured flowers to the completed ink art work to match vibrancy. All good, practical tips. Thanks, I look forward to watching more of your videos.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Kamryn Everett thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Kelly, your poor peanut and poor you! Stomach bugs are horrible. My boys who are now 20 and 18, were tremendously picky at that age too. Whenever they got sick the only thing they wanted was “sick boy soup”. It’s Lipton double noodle soup. It’s a powdered soup mix that you add water to and boil. I know it sounds terrible, but they still ask for it at this age when they have an upset stomach. You may want to give it a try. Oh, as an aside, they do finally grow out of their pickyness. My 18yo lived almost entirely on plain pasta with parmesan cheese (no butter or oil) and strawberries until high school. This same child made me pick off the sesame seeds from a hamburger one time when the restaurant changed their buns because sesame seeds “are not a plain burger Mom, it’s a topping”. Now I spend around $350 a week on groceries because they are each a swarm of locusts and eat anything that isn’t still moving. 😀
Barb Borja - I’m 57, and all I want when I’m sick is the Lipton soup mix from the pouch. I can’t do canned soup. My husband wants the Mac and cheese with the powder, which we now call “Sick Mac & Cheese “.
Kelly!!! You outdid yourself with these cards - they are beautiful!! So sorry about your little guy...your story brings back so many memories!! My little guy just turned 28 😬...he was also a very picky eater...would NOT eat meat! My mom was sure he was going to starve! He is now a very, very healthy eater...and not picky at all...he will eat things I wouldn't touch! It never failed...we would buy tickets for a special something he wanted to do...and like you and your family...we would end up having to cancel! We are from Columbus...but moved when my son was little...I'm in Michigan (come on spring)...my son went to college in Florida and stayed down there. I hope to live near him one of these days!!! 😊 Hope your little one is feeling much better!!!!!!!
These cards are just AWESOME!! Beautiful....every single one! I had no idea that foil could be added to the alcohol inks......I really love that more than the fixatives! Thanks 🙏🏼
Your cards are sensational! And I am happy for you that your little guy felt better after a couple days. You sound like you are wonderful, loving parents.
These cards are stunning. It may have taken you all weekend but it was so worth it. I so love watching the whole process. Love the reality of it all. So glad your little guy is doing better. It hard when your babies are sick. It always seems like you’re not doing enough to help them. But, believe me, you did everything you could, you’re a great Mom. Thanks for the double tutorial. Love, love, love them both.
I remember those days of sick kids from bygone days. I can still feel your pain.😥😥 and the little man’s also. I gotta tell you, these cards are S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!!! ❤️💕❤️💕💕❤️💕 You have totally outdone yourself! I love alcohol inks & I love foiling. I have seen this technique before but have not yet tried it. On the top of my list now. Thank you so much for your perseverance in creating these cards & sharing them with us. I am soooo impressed!
Even though your little one CK ,look how amazing your cards are.i just love them your very fortunate to be able to make these stunning cards.god bless you and thank you for showing me your work .👍👏❤️😃✝️🇨🇦
Amazing Kelly,,thinking outside the creative box. Bless all of ur hearts with everything all of u endured over the weekend. Glad ur little man is feeling better
Gorgeous cards, and glad your little man is better...nothing worse than feeling helpless when a child is sick. I did want to let you know I enjoyed the magnet dance 😊
Absolutely love the distraction with the magnets at 4:49 🤣🤣🤣! I would have done the same thing. Thank you again; I have rose gold foil and can't wait to use it with this technique.
Such pretty colorful cards!!! So glad that your little one is much better; sorry you missed out on your big weekend of fun; glad you & hubby did not get sick too!!!!!
It should be a love button not a like your cards are magic every single one is breathtaking wow so many ideas going around in my head thank you so much if it’s Mother’s Day over there have a lovely one
Loved watching your process...cards are AMAZING!!! Can’t wait to try making some! GLAD YOUR PEANUT IS BETTER. So glad you and your hubby didn’t get sick.
Love your alcohol ink cards! Wowza! I absolute am in love with creating backgrounds with these inks but like you it’s been hard to come up with card ideas from them but you did it with the flowers!!! I feel like I’ve been launched!! Thanks Kelley!!
Omg! Those cards are absolutely stunning. I know this was done 5 years ago but I wasn’t doing cards then. I just came across this tutorial. Any how…I can’t say enough about them…. just stunning.
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome cards. I hope and wish your little son is doing well. sending hugs and kisses for him. YOU are awesome. Have an awesome rest of the day. Leticia Seaman
Wow just Amazing, I love your story telling. I am so sorry your little peanut got sick. I so know that feeling when your baby is sick. Well we as mommy feel so bad for them. I am praying that he feels much better. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Kelly. I'm staggered by how stunning these cards are and how you've used every little piece. If I'd made those backgrounds I would have hated even using the white to cover ANY of them, but the result is fantastic. Also, I loved how you matched the copic colours for your flowers to the alcohol inks. Love everything about these cards, so thanks so much for sharing both videos with us. LOVE your stories too - so sorry about your "lost" weekend, but that's the way it is with kids. I had 4, so by the time they all shared with each other sometimes I would I would end up with a week or more, with them going down with it, one at a time. Now I have Great Grandchildren and I can pass them back to their mothers whenever I've had enough, hehehehehe. Glad "Peanut" is okay again. It's Friday here in Australia, so I hope you, your darling hubby and "Peanut" have a great weekend with no sickness. XX
I used to do the alcohol ink backgrounds probably 15 years ago. I still have some cards I made because I could not bear to part with them! On one , I cut strips then put them together like you did but then cut through them to make 3 vertical strips. You then can put them down on another piece of paper off setting the three thus making a mosaic. That card is displayed in my stamp room, I love it that much. 🤓. BTW: I live in NE Ohio too...Betsy is saying we may actually get some Spring “like “weather this weekend. I certainly am ready for Spring.
Oh Your poor little guy! I'm so glad he's doing better ~ Thanks to both parents! Not a fun weekend! Absolutely Beautiful cards! Thank you for finding the time to share them. xo
Just watched your part 1 & felt like I needed more to complete a card completely. I’m a new card maker & have so much to learn! This is exactly what I needed! Thank you for sharing! Very helpful!
Love this tutorial. Love your stories…and I really enjoyed making these cards along with your video. Mine didn’t turn out half as glossy. I’m still learning how to play with the gold foil. They still turned out very pretty. Thank you so much for sharing your talent!
I'm so sorry your son had to go through that. But I'm happy he's doing better! I absolutely loved watching you color and assemble the cards! Thanks for all the tips along the way! ☺️👍
Soooo beautiful!!! Can't wait to try this. As a kid when we would get sick like that our mother would give us jello water. It's just jello mixed in room temp water. It always seemed to help settle our stomachs and when we did throw it up it was gentle coming up also it helped with the dry heaves. Im sure you probably got lots of advice from everyone and his brother, not trying to tell you what to do and how to do it, just wanted to help. Sorry you missed your monster truck show, we used to take the girls to them, along with the races, pulls, and all that jazz. Sure do miss those days, they sure went by to fast. Have a great day!
Lovely cards, Kelly. So sorry your little one was sick, but glad to here he's doing better now. Thanks for sharing this technique which I will definitely be trying.
Beautiful cards Kelly. Glad to hear your little peanut is feeling better! Nothing worse than when your kids are sick and you can't make them feel better. Tfs your story and cards, they made my day lol 💗
Kelly, these cards were worth the wait! Simply stunning in every way, thanks so much for sharing! Glad your peanut is doing better, it’s so hard when our babies are sick. I had to laugh at the bowl tho. I’m a mother of six, and we had a name for it. The Buddy Bowl. You take your Buddy with you wherever you go! Saved a LOT of time and energy not to mention less washing! Take care of you too, cuz Moms don’t get to be sick LOL!!
Oh, your poor baby boy! My mom had a heavy plastic square pan that she'd put a bit of water in the bottom of & that was our sick bow. It was deep enough, nothing splashed out. Ick. I used the same things when our kids got sick. Apparently I was the pickiest eater this side of the equator & for many years after I left my teens I've been labelled a "foodie", which I have to admit is true. Food is one of my joys in life. Your cards are absolutely stunningly gorgeous! I long to buy some alcohol inks.
Love those backgrounds!!!! I absolutely must try the foiling! So glad your Peanut is feeling better! I remember how that was...and I have 4 children ( all grown up now!) My youngest was a chicken nugget only child...now he’s 21 and training for wrestling! So don’t worry....Peanut will grow out of it! Thanks for not only the wonderful tutorials, but I love your stories just as much!
These cards are probably the most beautiful I've ever seen! I'm in total awe of them! When my kids were "little" they were kind of picky eaters, my general rule was I didn't care as much of "what" they ate, but as long as they ate. If that makes sense. My Mother use to force us to eat whatever she cooked and what she served us... I was NOT doing that to my kids. I feel that it is what causes more people to have unhealthy eating habits. On the opposite side (the sick part), I have a bowl too... the same exact type of bowl my Mom used. You know someone's sick when you hear the metal finger loop on the metal bowl clinking it's way down the hall LOL! TFS :)
Kelly, wow on both ends! Love! Love! Love the outcome of your cards! So glad your little guy is feeling much better.
Amazing backgrounds, Kelly, and beautifully coloured flowers, super design too xx
Glad your son is feeling better. Funny story...when my son was around 3 and sick he asked me and my husband for a case. We looked at each other trying to figure out what he was asking for. You are the BEST, Kelly! Thank you for sharing your love of papercrafting. Beautiful cards. Blessings to you and your family!
Oh my goodness! What delightfully stunning cards!! A good reminder to get out the alcohol inks and play. Glad to hear your little one is better.

Absolutely gorgeous! Flowers just pop off the cards and those backgrounds...incredible!
So pretty! Love watching you work! So glad your little peanut is feeling better! Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful compilation of cards ! Thank you for taking the time to share these with us, especially during such a stressful momma weekend. I’m excited about dragging out my alcohol inks now and not so overwhelmed!
Truly beautiful. You are so good at Copic coloring! I had imagined you would color with the same alcohol inks. You matched colors remarkably well.
Incredibly gorgeous cards and AWESOME technique! I sure hope the little guy feels better ASAP!
WOW....just learning with alcohol inks but these backgrounds are so beautiful and the coloring on the flowers/cards are fantastic! !!!!!!

These. ALL of these! Amazing! So glad to hear he's feeling better!
🤓. They are all amazing….my kind of cards ❤❤

My youngest was a chicken nugget only child...now he’s 21 and training for wrestling! So don’t worry....Peanut will grow out of it! Thanks for not only the wonderful tutorials, but I love your stories just as much!
Glad your little fellow is better and the cards were all beautiful........................
They turned out beautifully, and sure glad your son is feeling better. Been there. Done that.
Every card is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
TFS :)
