Excellent Video. We have successfully completed the task per your instructions. We repaired our Power Quick Pot XL and saved over 100 dollars thanks to you. For those looking for the part, make sure to see the exact specs and buy the cheap ones. I was able to get 3 of them for less than 5 dollars on Amazon but the first ones you see in search cost 12.99 for just 1.

I dropped my instant pot about two feet; the bottom became off-leveled. This video helped me to easily remove screws, level and retighten! Thank you 😊 💓

This video is quite disturbing to watch as a professional technician, firstly there was no emphasis on safety!! ANY piece of electrical equipment should be unplugged or disconnected from the supply and proved to be dead with instruments.
Secondly the thermal fuse had blown for a reason, probably as a result of failed temperature control. Thermal fuses come in a massive range of temperature and current carrying capacities and it is vital that the correct type is used!!! Thirdly the connection method used here is not electrically sound, thermal fuses should be crimped or spot welded to the fly leads, NEVER EVER should you rely on a twisted connection like was demonstrated here.
I repair lots of equipment from domestic to hospital and industrial plant and can tell you it is NOT something homeowners should ever consider doing, it can kill you or burn your home down so easily.
Leave it in to a fully qualified and insured professional to repair and make sure you pick it up with a service report and receipt to show your insurance company in the unlikely event that something will happen.

I agree with much of your comment in regards to safety and knowledgeable but to say only a trained, insured, expert should work on things is just wrong. Sure there are some idiots out there that will grab the hot line. And some others will use this twist and hope connection method but in general most of us looking at UA-cam videos have reasonable amounts of basic knowledge its just the details of component locations, specific bad parts that might be plug and play, or a simple reset button that we are unaware of. So with that said, you are absolutely correct in saying safety should always be the first step of the repair process but there are times when a 7 dollar part can be easily installed without paying and expert 75 for it. Everyone doesn't have 75 for the repairman much less 200 for a new instapot.

I agree it was disturbing when I saw him twisting the fuse, I actually have the same cooker I'm watching videos because I got a fuse with more degrees of capacity so I'm not sure to use it because the original is 192 degrees C and the new one is 240

Why not install a fuse socket mounted to the cover for easy replacement glass type fuses like older appliances had?

it's annoying to me that SO many are having this problem. I literally just got an Insta pot and now after maybe 15 uses it's dead. I'll fix the fuse, but I don't think the we should have to be fixing these en mass the way it seems so many people are having to. The fuse must be made from Chinesium

Can we use the pot without fuse

    • @talbotcolleen
      @talbotcolleen 2 роки тому

Without the fuse, there is no power to the unit therefore the answer is no.

If you mean to cut the fuse off and reconnect the wires without the fuse the the answer is yes but the fuse is there for safety and it would not be a good idea if you have the skill to reconnect the wires then it would be better to get a replacement fuse hope this helps

Can't i bypass it with a small wire to work as a temporary fuse?

  • @iamcliff4351

I looked at that part number. £17.17 for 2. I'm replacing the thermal fuse on my pressure king. This uses a 10 amp 142 degree C fuse. I searched for that and bought 10 for £7.99. The temp is clearly written on the fuse. Do NOT use the wrong fuse. Solder or crimp the connections as it gives a better connection.

Don't solder unless there is a heat sink between the fuse and soldering point. You can melt your new fuse as it's made to sense excessively high temps and break the connection for safety purposes.

Thank you for this video. I think I can change the fuse all by myself with these instructions!
Is the fuse part number the same for all electric pressure cookers or must I search for my specific model? TIA

Don’t fix like video claims. Replacement Temp sensor should be crimped using proper size crimp, or welded / soldered. Twisting wire as shown may work for a while but it is not safe for this type of equipment. This video should be removed.
