Hi all - this is my first upload in 2 years! For those that didn't know, I wasn't able to sing for a long time as I permanently lost some of the functionality in my voice. It took me two years but I re-taught myself how to sing using the registers I had left to me. My 'new voice' is quite unstable (like a babe in the woods!) and I never know what I'll be waking up to, but I needed to get working on songs again or I was just going to wither away. Bear with me while I get back into the groove.
Alice in Wonderland has always been close to my heart and a source of comfort in some really dark times. I've decided Alice is what my next album will consist of - and this is the first song on it!
I hope you enjoy the video portion! My husband Kevin actually did all the filming! I am pretty impressed! I storyboarded the video and then he followed me around for a few days in the woods getting these shots. I made all of the Alice dresses from a Japanese pattern I found in a magazine. They took a loooong time but I am pretty good at sewing now...
Special thanks to my body double, Katie, for helping with the shots where I needed two Alices and also for helping a ton with the fight scene.
Also special thanks to my friend Jillian Aversa for not only showing me kindness and filling me with hope, but also for allowing me to be part of two of her professional video shoots earlier this year. I learned a lot from the experience and I just love her SO MUCH!
Please check out our two collabs here!
    • Witcher 3: Wild Hunt -...
    • Zelda: Ocarina of Time...
And thanks to YOU GUYS for still being here? Not being able to be Erutan for you for two years almost killed me. Leave a comment for me if you can, and see you guys next video!

    1) There's a potion that can make you shrink.
    2) And a cake that can make you grow.
    3) Animals can talk.
    4) Cats can disappear.
    5) There is a place called Wonderland.
    6) I can slay the Jabberwocky!

      To add to this:
      7) A baby can turn into a pig
      8) A talking White Rabbit can mistake you for his maid and order you around
      9) The Queen of Hearts can order you to play croquet using flamingos and hedgehogs, and order your execution if you don't follow orders
      10) The Mock Turtle can tell you the story of his life
      11) Mad Hatter, Dormouse, and March Hare can invite you to a tea party

    Stood awhile in thought

    I'm actually crying watching this.
I found you back around 2012 and was able to purchase a physical copy of Raindancer. I still have part of the packaging you sent it in because your handwriting/drawing is so beautiful (it's addressed to my mom, cause back then I used her PayPal 😂). Once at a friend's party I connected my iPod to the speaker system and blared your music. Back in high school I had a symposium where people showed their favorite genres; mine was Bardic tales and I made a power point about you.
The updates about your voice on Facebook always made me feel so sad that you might not be able to do something you loved so much ever again. Finding your instrumental channel helped, but I would always think "no one has a voice like Kate..." This video is such a boon, and I plus many other people will gladly stay for the ride of you discovering your voice again!

The goth her represented the Jabberwocky. Which in that story was a fearsome and extremely dangerous monster. She portrayed the young hero going forth to slay the monster. Facing such a monster of course the hero would be scared. But it wasn't just the story she represented. With the light Alice and dark (goth) Alice she was representing herself facing and fighting with her evil side. Facing her fears and problems. Dealing with emotional or even mental problems can be scary. I rather thought this video was brilliant.

Wow, I had no idea you lost your voice, I'm so sorry but so, so proud of you for making the most of it and staying strong, and not letting that stop you from singing! You are as lovely as ever, and this video is incredible, I truly thought it was made by a professional studio at the beginning! It looks so official! Thanks so much for continuing to sing and create songs for us, and for this lovely music video! If you don't mind my asking, what precisely is the problem with your vocal chords? I understand if you don't want to talk about it, I was just wondering. Is it polyps? I've heard vocal chord polyps/lesions are common among professional singers.
On a side note, I too love Alice in Wonderland and the poem the Jabberwocky is so creative lol. A lot of those nonsense words sound like they could be real words and I almost understand the meaning of them if that makes sense. Like "gyre" makes me think of spinning and "vorpal" sounds like "vortex" so maybe something to do with that? I think it's really cool how Lewis Carroll managed to come up with these nonsense words that sound similar to real words and based on context you can almost interpret their meaning. It's cool how the human brain will find pattern and meaning in almost anything.

+Nikostratus27 I don't know what is odd about it. Kate said a while ago she had problems with her voice that permanently damaged it and thus she wouldn't be able to sing anymore. Of course I enjoy her instrumental music, but I (and many other people in the comments below) were really touched and thrilled about her coming back to singing, because it was evident it was something that really brought her down and we all (including Kate herself) thought she would never be able to do it, which is sad. I hope that's clear enough.

    • @SiberianSoldier
      @SiberianSoldier 5 років тому

      I am aware.
However, I don't believe that hers is a voice that is meant to be permanently damaged. She;s special.

      @CelticBotansDigitalArt 5 років тому

+Nikostratus27 now we know that, but before she released the song, she said she wouldn't go back to singing. And in the description here, she says that some parts of her singing voice are still demaged even if she is back to singing again.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.
    “Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!”
    He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought
So rested he by the Tumtum tree
    And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.
“And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
    He chortled in his joy.

Uvi The poem 'Jabberwocky' is written in English and of course Lewis Carroll was Victorian author. The word jabberwocky along with chortle, frabjous, galumph, mimsy and vorpal are invented by the author himself that's why it sounds different language to us and this poem is considered one of the greatest nonsense poems written in English.

Oh Gosh! I want to thank you so much!
I stumbled upon your channel a year ago and I really loved this song. I'm addicted to Lewis Carol's Wonderland, so when I saw this, I immediately loved it. One thing that made me love it more was the fact that we had a competition at school _speech choir_ . We chose to theatrically perform our chosen piece which was the poem entitled "The Jabberwocky". Because of that, I then remembered this song. You have brought the poem to life, Erutan🤗 We were the only ones who opted to sing, and it was as if lady luck was on our side as we were asked to perform last.
We won! First Place! And I'm truly grateful because this song have helped us in earning that place! Again, thank you so much. We even won against the toughest section💯💓

Learning to sing with your head/classical range as opposed to chest must be like, for a visual artist, painting with your weak hand or being forbidden to use your favorite medium. Perhaps it's even worse, like losing a finger or two. I can't imagine, and don't envy the challenge you face/have been facing, but you're doing beautiful work regardless. In time and with practice, i'm sure you'll produce work that not just we, your listeners, will think to be amazing, but that you will find "good enough" as well.
I personally find your "new" voice more mature. Different, but in no way bad or "worse" than the old Kate.
One doesn't compare a Sargent and a Zorn, or a Sorolla painting and a Fechin drawing (artists - look 'em up :P). All four artists have amazing merit and skill in their own right - just as your chest voice wasn't "you" (at least not to us, your listeners). Your skill survives, and you're doing beautiful things with it. Adapt, grow and continue to create. You'll never cease to amaze us.
