The past 4 years or so have been difficult ones. My voice started to degrade in quality and we couldn't figure out why. I lost my chest register and tried to continue on with just my head/classical voice. However, in the last year and a half that too has become impossible to control and make a nice sound with. The three doctors that I've been to have all given me different vague diagnoses and nothing seemed to help. The last one I went to thought it might be something known as 'silent reflux' which means that acid from my stomach is creeping up and burning my vocal cords. It makes a lot of sense, however, if that is the case, the damage is pretty bad from going undiagnosed for many years. I don't know how long it will take the cords to return to normal. But I have changed my diet completely and done numerous other things to hopefully ensure the acid will stop coming up (if that is the reason). Please wish me luck on my journey in finding a cure for my voice!

In the book Silmarillion (J.R.R. Tolkien), there was a tale of how King Thingol and the Ainu Melian met. King Thingol fell in love with a beautiful voice singing in the forest then become completely entranced by it. I thought such heavenly voice only exists in fiction, until I hear Erutan singing...

I discovered the reason she stopped posting has to do with a problem with her throat that has made it either difficult or impossible to sing for her now.
That's just even more a shame. Some petty God or spirit must have been envious to maledict her so.

I miss Kate so much. Any time I hear her music it's hard to believe there's such a thing as evil or darkness in this world. Such a shame she can't sing anymore. For a while she was still occasionally releasing instrumentals, but I haven't seen anything new in almost two years. With how crazy this world has been, I hope she's safe and well.

@@runefaustblack she got some disease that make her voice can cord well, she had visit three different doctors and no one know her problem until one of them find that she suffered from "Silent Reflux". She is now recovering, we pray the best for her to sing again.

@@jpsoundworks It's not a disease, it's just acid reflux damage. She probably is still working on healing and figuring out her range.
Someone else said we don't heal from acid damage, that may be true but I have acid damage all the way up my osophagus and throat from life long acid reflux that wasn't diagnosed until about 5 yrs ago, we can manage quite a lot of damage for a long time.
She may yet be ok to sing once she gets used to her new range.
@qwandary I'm sorry to hear that, I also suffer with this and know first hand how frustrating it can be especially when I completely lose my voice for several weeks at a time due to the damage. As a music teacher it is far from ideal. Hope you recover soon ❤

I'm sure there are quite some people who decide to support the artist because they found the music on youtube (which they wouldnt have found otherwise). I think it's better to potentially lose some revenue while you're a not widely known artist for the sake of getting people to know you exist. (even though it's unvoluntairy in this case)

This was some of the most beautiful music I have ever experienced, both singing and instrumental. Thank you for sharing. I can imagine the old tales of how the fairies stole people away by enchantment, but really, they were not under any kind of spell, only wanting to stay to listen to music such as this forever.

The name is a bit of a pun for those of who know some Japanese. The -tan is a familiar form of address for a young female. So Erutan can be seen as nature backwards or "Eru-tan," which indicates Eru wants to be friends with you.

He doesn't usually listen :P My other cat is far more chatty and will usually meow back at me whenever I say something to her. I don't know if she's replying to me or just telling me to shut up, or both LOL

I love The Willow Maid. It is the perfect bard song. Entertaining and teaching. The haunting melody stops me in my tracks. I was listening to a streaming music channel the 1st time I heard it and the search was on. I happily bought two of Erutan’s albums and immediately added them to my favorite playlist. I only wish people would take the lesson from The Willow Maid to heart and learn that love does not process or destroy. In fact true love is all about wilingly sacrificing for the well being and happiness of the one you love.
The instrumental at the start of willow maid reminded me of the instrumental in Tinkerbell when she was tinkering for the first time in the first movie.
