I have been on deviantart for a good decade and the amount of animals with spots on the butt and a reindeer harness during christmas time is incredibly gigantic, I dare say.
Star was being completely unreasonable, the designs look absolutely nothing alike and they’re acting like they own the concept of a biblical angel. The whole thing was just incredibly stupid and delusional.

Hey I agree that I don’t own the concept or design and that I overreacted to this whole thing but I do wanna mention that I asked Ly if I could pay the cost of the design to them for it to just be removed. idk why Ly cut that part out but I never ever wanted this to impact them financially I just wanted to be able to use my design in the future without it looking like I copied someone’s oc
and I know now that wouldn’t have been an issue because they’re substantially different I just catastrophized the situation in my head (I am genuinely mentally ill I’m working on it)
@@starsleepsI assure you it's not the same at all (the design I mean) it's just wings no one ever claimed it like there are tons of artist that draws holy Pokemons evolution with wings like that, wings are an asset artist can use them wherever they want like this case especially. if it really did happened of you accused of copying, I mean that's not going to happen because there's no similarities at all just wings. And demanding a refund to them is rude, they explained their opinions you read it like you didn't, it has no similarities. I genuinely feel sorry for both of you, but you clearly bringing drama by making the problem public, even people said it's not similar. I respect both of you. I know you don't have any bad intentions, but you did things in the wrong way. I hope you get better soon (I read that you are mentally ill).
@starsleeps no, even with you offering to pay for the design that is NOWHERE CLOSE to being similar to yours is wrong. You're still in the wrong regardless of everything.
Lycan should not have refunded. The espeon looks NOTHING like the angel umbreon, not enough to have serious similarities. The only thing they have in common is a set of feathers under the ears, that's where it ends. I say this as an adopt artist.
If I gave an artist the Espeon as reference and got the Umbreon, I'd be disappointed. They look very different. Very unnecessary stress for Lycan. Blessings to them.

It's not original, Star is tripping over nothing and the designs don't even look similar
If no one used designs that they brainstormed with another person then half of every artists' OCs wouldn't exist
Collaboration/feedback on designs between artists is ridiculously common and the expectation of Star that those ideas not be used is wild and inappropriate
If Lycan had lifted the Espeon design then Star would've had a case, but Lycan sketched an angel-inspo Umbreon on their own during the discussion a year prior and then recycled the concept for their own thing

Before specifying which art belonged to who, I thought the Yellow Eeveelution was the one we were supposed to compare, but when I saw it was the Purple being compared I was like "WHAATTTT???" because, I didn't even see any correlation between the two. I used to follow starsleeps on twitter, until when she recently defended an person who stalked a minor for 7 years, over the time i have been following her she has been doing questionable thing's, she went after an fursuit marker spreading misinformation, to blocking anyone who even questioned the thing's she does.
Edit: Question thing's are questionable thing's she has personally done involving certain behavior, and thing's she did in certain situations such as this one, just wanna make that clear for everyone.
Edit 2: I deleted an reply providing context due to the fact that i don't want to bring any more attention to anyone involved. If you want to have more context to any of the thing's i mentioned, there are screenshots by people who witnessed or was involved with her behavior, i am one of those witnesses however i do not wish to mention any more then what was already provided by others.

What's funny is that there is a biblically accurate eeveelution in the fakemon community. One that was created in 2020 looks closer to Sleep's espeon. But Sleep won't bring that one up I'm sure cause the fakemon was created first.

Might be just me, but I kind find this whole thing so silly, especially when neither of the artist own the actual IP (pokémon/eeveelutions). I would understood if they would have argued about original designs (like new character etc.), but I found nothing very original in this mashup. But I guess, twitter is twitter.
this is a horrible thing of adoptables- some designers are super against ANYONE taking inspiration or simply COLOR PICKING their characters, ectra ectra they make money off designs and people wanting to get said themes/otherwise, or enjoying the artist's art but they don't do commissions.

I hate when people compare their art to others and automatically assume they take the idea from someone it's petty and also kinda pathetic to automatically assume people want to steal from you because you think your art is worth stealing (before any artists come after me I'm an artist too and I'm sleep deprived and ready to fight god)
Something I am not seeing people address much in the comments that just infuriated me. Star essentially CANCELLED their collab because "Oh, you were working on like 4 other adopts at the time" or whatever. WHAT?! No asking, no seeking clarification if Lycan can handle the workload, Star just ASSUMED he wasn't available anymore and just went ahead to post it, essentially screwing Lycan over from a big opportunity. And the fact that Lycan continued to treat Star as kindly as he did is just baffling?!
Star thinks the world revolves around her, her designs don't have enough unique elements to truly make them hers, and I sense some kind of jealousy that Lycan is able to take the same base ideas and come up with something far more unique that people want to buy. SELL THAT UMBREON TO THE CLIENT ANYWAY
That made me kinda baffled the most.
Just because they have the time to create/post 4 Adopts doesn't mean they weren't up for the collab anymore. Clearly Lycan thought that Star was currently busy and waited for a message. Could Lycan have reached out? Yes, but as a smaller creator you clearly don't want to bug the bigger one, in your eyes they may be busy, so you usually wait for them to contact you.
And even then, imagine the whole world, even big companies worked like that. All these JP Collab Cafes not happening because the Cafe decided to also do a Jujutsu Kaisen Collab Event when there was already a Demon Slayer Collab Cafe announced.
I once had someone contact me to change the name of a character because the same day they posted a character with the same name. The characters were both yellow birds but mine was a mix of a bird and dog, and theirs was a buff yellow chick. I still facepalm over it, how people can feel uncomfortable over the most out of left field reasons. I never met that person until that day. In the end least my character ended up with a cuter name.
Edit: I think the reason why Star couldn't see the overwhelming difference between the two is because their eyes aren't that advanced in the field yet. Not a excuse to be rude, but that's my only guess for their actions. Hopefully as they grow as an artist, they can look back at this and realize their misjudgment.
I once had a situation where in an MMO someone deleted their character to remake them, and in the time they took to go through character creation, i took the Character name, as i usually play an OC of mine in MMOs and try to switch it up.
They opened a private chat with me with their slightly differently-named character and were initially really friendly until they tried pressuring me into deleting the character and 'giving the name back' claiming they created the character for a friend to marry ingame and that friend owns the character.
OFC i refused because clearly neither them or the friend had claim to a f***ing name.
Eventually they tracked me down and started 'public shaming' me and i noticed their new character looked A LOT like mine, which was when it clicked.
The 'Friend' this person said owned the character WAS ME. They tried to replicate my OC in the Game, but rather shoddily.
Now what actually happened?
I was a member of a Roleplaying Forum (yes it's that old XD) with associated Chat. I played as that OC in there and this dude... Let's say he REALLY liked that OC.
Initially he tried to, in roleplay, get close to her and win her over, however since i had already a relationship for her ready with another person (a close friend) i, in roleplay, shot down his advances everytime, albeit in a character-fitting way, which meant too polite to shut him down directly and too naive to actually know what his goal was (to her, he just wanted to be friendly but was VERY creepy about it.)
So he opt'ed to create the character in that MMO on an Alt-Account to eventually marry his Main Account.
And i foiled the plan by coincidentally taking the name as it became free, which appearently ruined his immersion so much, he outright quit the game xD

Was the roleplay forum for that mmo? because the odds of you both playing the same mmo and you getting your oc's name while they deleted their named character of that OC's name, the timing is wild.

I feel bad for lycan being put through what their being put through. Sure the two different pokemon which are from an eevee evolution line just do happened to be themed after a biblically accurate angel's.
But their the same theme but went about differently, with the eye(s) and wings, color and the pokemon. And like someone on the post already mentioned. Its not an original idea and been done before.
I really hope that the client who got refunded wasn't too upset and understood the situation. Its sad star decided to even start this. Honestly need to be humbled and loose a majority of their followers given they have clearly let the popularity get to their head.

The "adoptables" community are either the sweetest artists trying to make a living or the most unoriginal bitter creators who don't even treat art as a creative endeavor. I can understand the feeling that someone designing something similar to you is frustrating, but it's the way of the world. Everything you make will always have similarities to *something*

This whole thing reads as insanely petty on Star's end. Complaining that your POKEMON adopt character with wings and eyes like almost every internet artist's depiction of 'Biblically Accurate Angel' is so wholly unique that someone can't even do the same design with a different type of pokemon adopt is insane. Not to mention ripping Lycan off with demanding money back for a non issue and making a privately settled matter public most likely to drum up sympathy and hate on Lycan. Glad that backfired. Also the whole passive aggressive 'I know I got more followers' jibe more than once when Star was planning on making it public too. Some real mean girl wannabe behaviour

Several things to take in here.
1. Saying they didn't ask Lycan to take a financial hit, but literally told them to refund the adopt and not sell it ? Lol
2. Making it public after Lycan AGREED to their entitled demands.
3. Knowingly making it public while knowing they have over twice the each and support Lycan does

All because they were being paranoid and wanted to protect themselves instead of just do some normal explaining. Someone with this big of an audience should not be behaving like this at all
Simplest of rules when designing: Don't expect to be copied when the features, markings or colours were not created by you and have actually existed on character designs for years already.
A slapping on a reindeer outfit and add spots or add head-wings are NOT original or unique, my girl. You aren't the first one to make them and nobody owns those things.
If she was really a good designer of adopts and active in the community, she would KNOW this isn't something to get upset about. Simple designs are very likely to exist elsewhere already. And there is only so much you can use as a clear christmas theme anyway, so it's even less original.
And I say this very confidently since I've had the same exact design ideas in the past, despite never seeing her or lycan's adopts. Mine weren't eeveelutions but it was nearly the same as what both of them designed. That's the risk of going for simple designs. Which is why most people in the adoptable community either do not care or learn to make more complex designs. Star really needs to choose one of those options.

I want to make a ton of biblically accurate eeveelutions now just to prove it's not that original. It's honestly such a simple idea, one thing that's blown up a bit on the internet, and another that is pretty commonly used for adopts.
Those designs are litteraly so different i would have never assumed they could be linked together in any way WHAT
Sounds like Star was going to make a specific design and Lycan beat them to the punch so they got butthurt. But now that it's public drama and since things aren't going the way Star wants, that design might never leave the sketchbook after all.
Or it could all just be jealousy. Regardless, it was petty, and both designs could have existed and been sold without a problem. Lycan walked away the bigger person here, though.

There's Only So much differentiation that people can do- Besides, You can't copyright Already Existing characters or Fan Designs Of- It's illegal to do so. That's the Technicality with Fan Art- If it was a Unique Race That Person 1 created and Lycan sold a design, *That* would be illegal.

A long time someone stole my whole characters back story, and her parents history on how the met (as they are base off famous immortals, with my twist) and some of birth mark design and, and when I tried to call it out, since she was famous artist they said I was the bad person, NOW THAT IS STEALING! They said the concept of them having a kid and getting together isn't yours...
NO! BUT SHE TOOK EVERYTHING ELSE! Just changed her clothing design,actual look and who she ends up with..she made a male oc for him. But she had same birthmark, birth defects 100% same story flaws likes, dislikes her strengths, goals..even the same pet!

Some people don't understand how people can make adopt out of Pokemon because they see each individual pokemon as a unique character when they aren't as I and many other view them as.
Each pokemon like for example Eevee is a species, the default Eevee is the prime example and base for people to make and trade/sell their own unique designs of a Eevee. Not all individual of a species gonna look the exact same and that the logic we working on here. The official pokemon is just the base species and artists had been using them in creative way since the early 2000.

I need to start keeping a list of artists like Star to be sure I never end up buying shi-- stuff from them. This whole fiasco is absurd and I feel so bad for Ly. Star should be ashamed of themselves for their conduct here - they're a grown adult, they should learn to act like one.

Hey um! I was that guy! And it absolutely sucked so much I literally dipped for a straight month, only to find out an entire doc had been made about me, when he said it wasn’t an “expose” document, when he titled it as a “beware” document, which isn’t much better. Then entire issue could’ve been resolved completely if he had been a little more patient with me, when I was a minor when this all started. It also caused an entire chain reaction where a whole bunch of creators in the “fanclan” community have me blocked/blacklisted bc of him and to this day I STILL cannot work up the courage to even talk to him. What he did I think genuinely traumatized me. I can’t draw my Skyrim ocs anymore without feeling burnt out or anxious and I don’t even have the motivation to give them new designs anymore. I really don’t think Ly deserved having to deal with this but we all gotta learn that some things just need to stay behind closed doors. Neither of them should’ve made this public.
“ideas can be copied” that sentence in of itself isn’t even true. no one owns an idea, because genuinely no one has ever come up with a completely unique idea that’s never been done before. Two people can have the same idea but totally different executions, which is what we saw in this vid

I cant fathom the entitlement on Star's side. The fact that they're worried about the Espeon design, a PURPLE head-winged pokemon that isn't exactly close to being a biblically accurate angel.
