In Spain there are only 14 annual holidays, apart from Sundays. These holidays are divided into three groups: 1. National holidays, i.e., for the whole country (10). 2. Holidays of each region (2). 3. Holidays of each city (2). These rules are for the whole country. So there are NO holidays every week.
@@Abraxas1138 yeah that’s true, however, feels different especially when there are some other celebrations and festivals like day of paella, Las Fallas, carnavales, Batalla de Flores etc 🙂
Hola, So many interesting observations, glad your new home is working out so well for you both. As a Spain lover I appreciate all the things you mentioned. Such a healthy lifestyle in so many ways. I can't wait to return to visit again but for now I try to cook many Spanish foods and Mediterranean dietary choices.
Great video ! Could you make a video about Jobs and salaries , like how much a couple with one kid would have to make to live a comfortable life or how much do you guys make (average )?
Sure, that’s a good topic to talk about! Thanks for the suggestion! You can also check my video “our monthly expenses in Valencia” But I’ll make more a general one for Spain as well 🙂
This was a great video, especially for Americans researching a move to Spain. We are looking to relocate to the Costa Blanca, around Calpe, Denia, or Javea in a couple of years so have started considering some of what you are discussing. We are finding that housing is pretty similar to our Upstate New York region. For example, I am able to sell my 3 bedroom home here for about 320k which would only purchase a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment there...but I think the trade off is location. The Costa Blanca has so many advantages for outdoor experiences, plus the climate. Perhaps you could do another video on the challenges for Visa, taxation, and any other preparations necessary. For example, to apply for a Visa in the US, you will need proof on health insurance as well as proof of a residency...meaning you have to rent an apartment and pay for it without even knowing if you will be approved for the Visa. Thanks again for taking the time to post this!!
Thank you! 🙂 Exactly, these places that you named are considered to be luxurious towns on the Costa Blanca. They are known for their high-end apartments, villas, and excellent amenities and are popular with expats and retirees that's why the prices are more expensive. I assume you’re referring to the Non-Lucrative Visa. It’s true that you’ll need private health insurance to apply for this visa covering you for a whole year. However, for proof of residency, it can simply be an address of a short-term rental (airbnb), or even that of friends or family. You do not need to commit to or pay for a long-term rental before receiving the visa. Thank you for the suggestions, I would definitely cover this in another video!
I recommend you to join a nearby "falla" - ask around if there are any English speakers native o learned, that would help youto fit in. It is a social club, you will make some friends, and a lot of acquaintances, that will help you with your ordinary needs as asking for a good plumber and thinks like that, and of course improve your Castilian Spanish, and your knowledge of the Valencian culture or even learn some Catalan language, call it Valencian there.
I am from Valencia. I would like to see the reaction about LAS FALLAS because I think his mind blow away ( mascleta, fallas, People, traditions, fireworks,...)
You need a calendar with the festivities in your area. This way you will know when everything is closed or when to celebrate a tradition, every year they are the same. Regarding the language you have to be constant, start with topics, restaurant, store, etc. I learn English with you for example. Avoid bubbles, in Spain it's very easy to interact with each other, it is very Mediterranean, it will be easy for you. Enjoy and welcome home. Greetings from Barcelona ;-)
