Nice video indeed, I would really like to know where you were (city)! :3 It's facinating really, cause I have been living in Germany for the past 5 years, yet I have a completly different point of view about Germans :/ I don't really like the country and the way people treat me here because it is so not good, but it is nice to know that at least some people do get a nice impression :D

I am always amazed that Americans are surprised that you have to tip the bathroom cleaner because it is the same system that Americans use to pay waiters in restaurants. Wages are low, work is hard, so you tip them that they can reach a reasonable income.

I watched 5 videos and everyone mentions "Knödel" being potato dumplings. so strange to me I never ate those (just once for testing), but instead, just the Knödel made out of old, hard "Brötchen" and marjoram. They taste 1000 times better than the potato knödel ^^ I hate sausage and brezel. but the salted yogurt isn't german at all ^^ Ayran is Turkish. Never tried it and just known of it for a few years. Polish yogurt drink is superb though! North, south, east, and middle Germany is beautiful. unluckily I grew up in the west middle of big industrial cities :O
Never owned an umbrella in my life. I hate that preparedness. I walked the whole winter in a sleeveless shirt. I absolutely hate the rule-following thing ^^ As well as the über-clean houses. I am not very german which is the reason I emigrated ^^ Here in Finland the houses are even CLEANER which I thought was impossible to achieve ^^
I find trains o be very expensive in Germany. for short routes 30-50 € whereas with car it would cost 5-15 Euro ^^ but straßenbahn and u-bahn are somewhat okay but still wayyyy more expensive than driving with your own car. I find Germany to be one of the fastest-paced working countries as well..

Because of red / green. You have to be able to rely on road traffic rules that it will work, otherwise it will be fatal. In Germany, the laws are there for the citizens and not the citizens for the laws. Following rules will save lives.

What a lot of people don't know about paying for toilets, is that they are small businesses.
People take care of it and try to keep it clean and a lot of times if there is a lady sitting at the entrance
they offer other small services like selling condoms or other small usefull things like tampons for example.
But lets turn this around, why would you let people in your bar/restaurant or what ever to only use the toilet
if they don't spend a single cent???
And the so called free refills in the US aren't free, you pay for it somehow, let that sink in slowly.

Your pronunciation is so good! I wish my English was so good ^^''.
I think it is very interesting to hear what people from other countries say about my country. Like you talked about the german public transportation where I think It is soo bad! Always late and expensive!
But now I think it is probably worse in California and I should be more glad.
I think your experience with German jobs is something that has changed much and only stayed like this for some smaller companies. When my dad has vacation he gets bothered all the time. He is not even in a high position but he gets calls at 6 in the morning to get into work or on Sundays even. So I think this depends a lot on the company.
And the street thing is so right XD I was stopped by the police last week when I went over a red light with no car to be seen. Now I know: It is ok to walk over the street 2m away from the traffic light space but not right across it. SO stupid....so German ^^'.
I loved your positivity so much in this video and you are right, we have some very good music! (We have a very very good metal scene in Germany which I am very proud of X3)
Thank you for making this video ^-^

If you definitely want tap-water ask for "Leitungswasser" / (pronounced "lye-tungs-wha-sser") in a restaurant. Those should be free. But yes, usually you pay for water in restaurants.

    • @bobabier5394
      @bobabier5394 4 роки тому

I think she knows how to pronounce Leitungswasser. And your phonetic spelling is pretty inaccurate by the way^^. It would sound like "Leitangswoassör" or something... :D
That's the reason why we have the IPA (international phonetic alphabet). If everyone would learn it, ppl yould easily tell how anything is pronounced. And it's not that hard. "Leitungswasser" is "ˈlaɪ̯tʊŋsˌvasɐ" for example. Pretty easy when you learn some more letters. And it's international. Teaching your mouth to form those sounds is another story^^
