I think a big reason why we often suck at these games today is a lack of patience. We've been so spoiled by the usability and convenience of modern games that when you go back to play an old one and it doesn't hold your hand at all it becomes very frustrating. When we are kids we just stuck at it until it clicked but now we expect to be able to jump right into a game
I think it's true that a lack of patience plays a big role, but I don't think it's just because the game isn't holding my hand enough. My lack of patience is more attributable to not feeling as motivated to overcome the challenges of the game anymore. I already overcame them 20 years ago, so climbing the hill again doesn't seem worth the effort, and the payoff if I did doesn't seem worth it either. If I take the time to master a 20 year old game (again), I don't have friends or a community to boast about my accomplishments with, so that's a loss of motivation. And the game's graphics are usually bad by today's standards, so any cutscene I see after beating something just feels like a silly letdown - block characters saying three muffled lines of dialogue, and the credits roll. Not worth the effort. But back then, I think we all wondered what was on the other side of the mountain - how awesome might an ending cutscene be, what kind of new unlockable items or characters might there be, can we beat our or our friend's best time, etc. etc. The games were still surprising us, there was so much new to explore, and they still gave us a high to chase. Without the high, what's the point? Nostalgia - that's the only real purpose anymore, and nostalgia wears off pretty fast.

Hi Glenn i miss more new videos from you, maybe you can expand to other consoles or games you like, i like your opinion in games and how you delivered it. Greetings from Chile.
Mario Kart 64 - all powerslides used to be a muscle memory for me, but when I came back a couple of years ago to get some footage for my channel, I had problems to actually stay on tracks like Choco Mountain or Banshee Boardwalk. How embarrasing. Donkey Kong 64 - I liked this game back in the days, but playing it again last year was an absolute torture. I don't have enough skill and patience for it at all and I will probably never return to it again. I am afraid to go anywhere near F-Zero X, and I beat all cups on every difficulty setting with each character back in the day.
I didn't own DK64 back in the day and I'm currently trying to beat it. It's taking forever, because the game is so overwhelming and confusing. I don't feel like booting it up and it saddens me.
Hey Glenn, whenever there is an N64 game I'm curious about I always check out your reviews first. I noticed you don't have a review for Paper Mario! I see from other comments that you are dealing with health, I hope you recover soon and that you eat just the right amount of pizza. Also, I really do suck at Warzone now, that was a favorite with my friends in 5th grade...
I tried playing Goldeneye the other day and it felt so alien. That was the only N64 game I had for about 2 years. I played it to death. Now I'm like "huh?"
For whatever reason I never lost the muscle memory for how goldeneye and perfect dark control. It’s fun absolutely slaughtering friends who come over expecting to still be good at them 😂
@@megamob5834 Yeah people don't understand how to play a FPS game with only 1 control stick, always makes me laugh when they can't even strafe fire lol
One of my greatest gaming achievements : earning all platinum trophies on Ridge Racer 64 when I was like 12 or 13 😅 Now I bet I can barely turn / drift a corner on any of the tracks lmaoo
One such game for me is Mischief Makers. I mastered that damn game when I was a kid. I got all the golden gems, I beat the speedrun times... I was crazy good at it. Now? Forget it. Old man Real1 can't do shit
I used to be so good at single player on both GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. But booting up the games nowadays is a sad reminder that I’ve become a shadow of my own gaming self. If I could’ve battled it out with myself as a 14 year old, the younger me would both crush me and laugh in my face. Thankfully there’s still fun to be had. My closest friend and I still battle it out on multiplayer a few times a year, and we’re at about the same skill level 😊 We use the original controllers on the original cartridges. Nothing beats the original 😊
For me, it wasn't an N64 game, but rather an arcade game call metal slug. I can finish that game with a single credit when I was 9, it was awesome. Doubt I can do it now. Another arcade game that I can finish with a single credit was a light gun game called ghost squad. And I unlock everything from that game. Its an arcade game with a save on card feature. Man I spend so much money at arcade.
ISS, any one of them, for certain. Back in the day I had both a Nintendo 64 and a Neo Geo CD. I often joke that every time a loading screen popped up on Super Sidekicks 3 me and my brother could finish a match on ISS 98 before the NG CD would start the match. These days I can barely figure out the controls properly on either game and winning a match seems like a Herculean task.
While you posted Warzone, I usually choose Attitude to go back to from time to time (it's the better of the two IMO), I have it on PS1...but you're right, I'm always trash at it when I go back. I might build up a little muscle memory as I play, but it's gone by the time I go back. We can go in No Mercy right now though...I'll take on anyone, still play that enough to be good at it lol.
Another N64 channel ? subscribed, great content dude. Also, I agree, 1080 Snowboarding is ridiculously hard (i upload some videos of it), especially when trying to optimise runs.
If you haven't already, try pressing the Z button just upon landing to suck in the impact. I forgot that one for like a year and couldn't figure out how I used to play it so well.
@@shaun8062 If you're going for fast times or speedruns, you have to hold Z pretty much the whole time to stay at max speed lol. But yeah using Z and landing "flat" really helps.
@@jazzabighits4473 Right, I knew that part, but at first it seemed counterintuitive to have it held down in the air or landing until i figured it out again.
Thanks - waiting on a follow up with a neurologist next week but looks like I may be getting quite a serious diagnosis so fingers crossed it’s some good news. Hope to be back uploading soon either way 👍
I swear it'd be easier to list the games that I don't suck at now compared to back in the day. You've listed a lot of the ones I immediately thought of, like Ridge Racer 64, Tony Hawk and 1080. And Guru Larry mentioned Waverace. Even Mario 64, which I think holds up well, I still don't quite have the finess my younger self did. I could do the triple/wall jump trick to get on top of the castle early, but tried for hours recently to no avail. It's just gone. Cruis'n Usa is another one like that, where it's still fun, and the basic gameplay still holds up, but I know I was better at it, and corners that would've been easy for me to breeze through back when now give me trouble. All this modern fidelity gameplay and fancy Forza rewind magic has spoiled me, and dulled my 64-bit edge.
I'm so glad you mentioned Ridge Racer 64! I bought the game recently and couldn't believe how well it played. I suck at the game as well but love that it was released on the N64! Another game that seems harder to me nowadays is Mario 64; tring to remember the red coin locations and decipher the riddle goals for each star is hard!
I somehow got through Banjo-Tooie as a kid without rage quitting once. 15 years later on the Xbox 360 port and I'm constantly dying and have no clue why I'm struggling. I rage quit'd a few times and pretty sure I (gently) threw my controller during Grunty Industries level.
I think I've actually gotten better. Although my reflexes may be slower now, I know more about how games work and play more effectively now. In recent years I've beaten games I never could back in the day; DKR, PAL Body Harvest, Turok 1, Top Gear Rally, Nagano Winter Olympics, and Saikyo Habu Shogi. Currently I'm working on finishing Ucchannanchan's Flaming Challenge: Irritating Electric Stick. On the other hand, now that I have my own children I have much less time to play so I don't really go for 100% any more.
I really don't have troubles getting back into games like F-Zero X and Super Mario 64, i think that the controls hold up and that i hold up in the games, maybe because i was a VERY late N64 adopter, but at the same time, those games have many instances for you to start from scratch and get better at them, for instance, when i want to do just a quick game of F-Zero, i just do Death Match, probably my worst score, but a good place to start.
While not N64, I used to be amazing at DKC trilogy as a child. Going back now I can mostly remember where everything is at but it’s far harder than I remember. I’m not sure if it’s my reflexes slowing down or too many JRPG’s but it’s hard to me now.
@@Yarp-xj3rd Yes. I’m not an expert so I’m sure someone will correct me but Japanese Roleplaying games typically have a silent protagonist with a defined name. They usually are turn based and oftentimes start off with a kid or some amnesiac villager and end with killing a god or god level being. They’re heavily story-focused compared to some western RPGs like Skyrim and such. Those as you know are open ended. Great examples are like Wild Arms, Final Fantasy or Grandia.
@@JoshuaJacobs83 ah ok. I understand what you mean. I haven't really played any tbh. My mates used to like the Final Fantasy games but I never really got into them.
See I’ve remained good at those, well maybe 1 and 2 - never did like 3 much

For me it is Top Gear Rally. I remember unlocking everything in that game, and now I can't even finish the first track without my car looking like a crushed soda can
I love the N64 but I am not very good at most games. The few games I am good at, Super Smash Bros and Mario Party 2, I still play to this day often. I tend to really enjoy the multiplayer aspect of N64 gaming over single player, it’s where the console really shines!
I've never really had a problem with the n64 controller, maybe because I've never really stopped playing the console. I actually kinda miss having unique control schemes for games. Every single modern game has pretty much identical controls if they are in the same genre. That being said, some n64 games are definitely more difficult than I remember them being, especially the driving/racing games. I think that's more to do with bad visibility, blurry graphics and aging eyesight.
The n64 controller sucks for games like Mortal Kombat (not sure why they never released 6 button same size back in the day) but works perfect for Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Wrestling Games etc.
While I haven't played Smash Bros. for the N64 in a while, I know that I won't be nearly as good at it as I used to be. Back in the day, I played that game so much that I was burned out on it and didn't even want to touch it. I'm curious to see how well I'd do with Goldeneye in multiplayer. I can do fairly well in Perfect Dark against Simulants, but I have no clue how well I'd hold up against human opponents. Recently, I was playing WWF No Mercy and going through one of the Championship modes (I don't remember if it was the WWF Championship or not) and on the final match against Vince and Shane, I got my rear end handed to me several times before I beat it. I didn't remember the game being THAT difficult.
@@n64glennplant I'm certainly not someone that would have won any tournaments, but I'd say I was a pretty good player. To be fair, even when I was in my prime with that game, there would be plenty of people out there that would have mopped the floor with me.
@@jazzabighits4473 I currently have three simulants: HardSim, KazeSim, and FeudSim. HardSim is of course on the hard difficulty level, the others are normal. As for the weapon set I use: 1. Falcon 2 2. Falcon 2 (silencer) 3. DY357 Magnum 4. Shotgun 5. Shield 6. Combat Knife Usually I play to 15 kills.
@@Scubagon Oooh interesting settings. Feudsim can be interesting if he chooses you, I also like to put in Judgesim, because he tends to even out the scores by going for the person who is in first place. KazeSim always annoyed me because of its incessant punching even when it has access to weapons, causing screen blur/blindness. Interesting set of weapons, sometimes I play those but I like to play 1. Cyclone 2. Phoenix 3. Superdragon 4. DY357 (usually not LX if bots are on hard or higher because they'll just 1 shot you from across the map) 5. K7 Avenger 6. Mauler Also, sometimes instead of a score limit I play to a time limit. Used to play with my mate but he doesn't like the game that much and he used to just enjoy seeing speedsim sprint past (especially if you change the sim's body to the very tall guy, mr blonde, it makes them move even faster).
Bomberman 64 The second attack. Oh my word. I could beat the game without dying one time and now I run out of continues before I make it to the third boss. On the flip side however, I used to struggle when I was playing some of the Mini games in the Zelda games that I blew through without much issue now.
Super Mario Kart on the SNES played it recently and it’s so difficult it’s painful. In the day I was like Senna always pushing the edge and racing line, hoping and gliding around corners. It’s like I’m driving a tank on ice skates on a razor blade last time I picked it up.
Tony hawk is definitely the epitome of this problem. I used to be a wizard at it on GameCube. But I recently tried the Nintendo 64 versions and got utterly destroyed. Admittedly the controller does suck for it, and playing without reverts or manuals is near impossible. But I also played through the Nintendo switch version and was still a long way away from my prior expertise.
Git Gud, lol. Yeah, 1080 has an incredibly tough learning curve to it. Having 25-year-old N64 controllers probably doesn't help the situation either. But I'd say Waverace 64 can be pretty tough too, also Vigilante 8 trying to remember where all the weapon and health spawn again.
Oh, sure, blame the controller, why don't ya... just kidding, you're spot on. All of my old controllers are worn-out and you can definitely feel it. I've rather liked the Brawler 64 and that Tribute new version of the Hori pad.
@@n64glennplant I actually learned to repair mine. Little bit of epoxy and sand paper can really do some work for the stick, since the plastic bowl is weaker then what the stick is made of so it wears down faster.
Nah, I sucked at most of these back in the day too. I’ve got a zillion hours into 1080 and never once pulled off the eponymous trick. Also, don’t think we Americans didn’t notice that you used “lost X - O to Canada” as symbolic for sucking at soccer :).
As if there aren't worse countries to lose to, eh? ;) Fun little fact: all the FIFA games are actually developed in Canada. So even if we're less into football/soccer than... well, every other country besides the US, we at least have some credibility, right?
This is so true. I remember being amazing at so many games 20+ years ago, but if I tried to play them now it's like trying to decipher an alien language. What happened?
I have a hard time with the limited camera on football games going back. The arrow tells you nothing about the defenders which is the most important part of passing.
Replayed the THPS games on N64 during the start of quarantine then bought the remaster for switch and then replayed the originals and … yeah it’s harder to go back to these ones nowadays
GoldenEye would be on my list. When I was young I completed it on 00 Agent and unlocked all the cheats. Friends gave me their carts to unlock cheats like invincibility for them (before the button combos were revealed). Recently, I was stuck on Bunker 2 00 Agent for about a week, and now I'm stuck on Streets 00 Agent.
If you think about ANY game that was definitely hard to play the first time round, I have too. Not too long ago, I can remember playing dk64 and banjo on the switch online service and what I found was very surprising to me was how hard both platformers were to learn the controls the first time around. But they were not bad. As soon I got the controls down pat, I slowed got used to each move one by one and, as a result, got to respect the difference between both gameplay and different styles of play you had to adapt to. Loved them both and still do to this day.
The LGR reference for duke nukem section was oddly satisfying in w fanboy way. Like some nostalgic comic book crossover lol damn what has lockdown done to me eh? Haha
I think it comes down to several factors : - A lot of these games relied on muscle memory and moves memorization. After 20 years not playing, it's basically gone. - 3D games have learnt a lot of lessons regarding controls since 1996. Some of those control scheme are really not intuitive and a lot of them sucked even back then. - Kids just have more patience and free time for that stuff. I didn't care about losing dozens of time as a kid. I would just pick it up again and try to do better, even if it took me an afternoon. As an adult I quickly feel frustrated because I don't want to spend my only hour of free time that day dying in the same spot or trying to remember the controls. It's also more difficult to learn.
Was that RC Revolt I saw in the intro? I remember that being far too twitchy to enjoy, but I did complete SCARS instead. Extreme G was another racer where the combination of speed and frames meant I was friends with the wall far too much to win at it. World Driver Championship was my fav N64 racer, but I've not played it in 20+ years so can't guarantee I'll be any good now! I am currently almost at the end of Turok (PC) and it turns out I must have only got to level 2 on N64 back in the day as I can't remember any of the other bits
Ah the unforgettable N64 multiplayer sessions...those were the days....i enjoyed a lot of kart racing action with my friends and alike...MK64 more than DKR (i played this one with my brother only, mostly)...i also enjoyed Goldeneye 007 multiplayer a lot....4 players=pure mayhem...and i cant forget about infamous tactics such as barricading urself in a room full of contact or remote mines..ahah..i also enjoyed playing iss64 with my brother during the N64 pal launch period..ah and i m good at these games just like i was back in the days ahahah..pretty decent
Back in the day I was able to gold medal all the missions in Star Wars Rogue Squadron and was pretty good at Episode 1 Racer, now I struggle just to complete most of the basic mission requirements in Rogue Squadron, and don't even get me started on Pod Racer lol.

I've dusted off the old N64 and even picked up some games I didn't get to play back then. Sure the graphics have aged but I'm having an absolute blast. Some brilliant games! Thank you!!
The Rush series. I can't believe how garbage I am at those games now. They're so difficult now but as a kid they were my jam
I went back to rush 2 last week, i was amazed out how bad i was going back to the game.
Hi Glenn, just another person coming to say how much I have missed your content and very much hope you're feeling better. All the best mate
You’re the best n64 UA-camr I’ve seen I hope you’re doing well glenn your stuff is always great to watch and learn
Hey man, hope your doing well & your health is improving. I check back every once in awhile to see if you have uploaded. Hope your doing better mate!
I've actually improved at Tony Hawk since I've gotten older surprisingly.
That’s interesting! Played the remaster?
@@n64glennplant not yet it does look really good though so I probably will eventually.
@@n64glennplant Is it any good?
Hello from Belgium :).
Really miss this channel, i continue to rewatch your old videos just because i'm addict :P.
I really hope you are feeling better, i wish the best for you :).
I just bought a physical version of Banjo Kazooie jiggies of time, hope it's good :).
Hey Glenn. I've watched so many of your N64 vids, and I feel like you've never really mentioned the Gamecube much. Would love to hear how the end of the N64 and the beginning of the Gamecube era was seen from your perspective. Were you sad to see the N64 go?
It was an interesting time, I’ll cover that period at some point as I actually got the GC on launch day too
I've been enjoying your videos for years and find myself re-watching them whenever I'm feeling nostalgic for the good old N64 days. Hope you're doing well and all the best wishes.
Glad you like them! Hope to be better soon and able to put some more content out
Man that Re-Volt clip in the intro. That game is WAY harder than I remember it lol
You can play it "remastered" on the PC as RVGL and it's as hard as nails but still fun. I've got an XBOX controller mapping keystrokes with AntiMicro as the best found control option.
The remasters very playable!
Felt this recently going back to Diddy Kong Racing, some of the later races with the silver coins are brutal! (and some of the bosses)
Miss you Glenn. Hope to see a new video sometime soon in the future
Thanks Dominic - hope to be back soon, possibly the new year
1080 for sure! I had so many records back in the days I use to rent it.
I bought it in a CEX lottery (2 quid, bargain) and I was amazed how bad I was at it. Took me weeks to get back up to speed
Same here, I’m currently trying so hard to get the transparent blue border, but simply can’t do it… so hard doing expert mode.
Expert mode is nuts!
I remember unlocking everything in that one and learning all the tricks.
Hope you're doing well!
Still poor health but hope to be back soon
@@n64glennplant No worries. Do what you gotta do to take care of yourself. I recently found you channel and have been enjoying your videos. Stay strong friend 👍
I love the LGR plug. Hes a master of his craft and no doubt im sure he has a huge respect for your depth and quality of n64 content.
He’s actually popped up in the comments a couple of times, too Bloke, can usually find him on duke related content
Hi Glenn i miss more new videos from you, maybe you can expand to other consoles or games you like, i like your opinion in games and how you delivered it. Greetings from Chile.

Hi Glenn I hope you’re ok and I hope you have a happy healthy new year. Hope you’ll be back soon.
Thanks Brandon - hopefully in a few weeks maybe
Mario Kart 64 - all powerslides used to be a muscle memory for me, but when I came back a couple of years ago to get some footage for my channel, I had problems to actually stay on tracks like Choco Mountain or Banshee Boardwalk. How embarrasing.
Donkey Kong 64 - I liked this game back in the days, but playing it again last year was an absolute torture. I don't have enough skill and patience for it at all and I will probably never return to it again.
I am afraid to go anywhere near F-Zero X, and I beat all cups on every difficulty setting with each character back in the day.
Beaver Bother in DK64 is just nostalgia hell
F zero x is a really tough one to go back too also
I didn't own DK64 back in the day and I'm currently trying to beat it. It's taking forever, because the game is so overwhelming and confusing. I don't feel like booting it up and it saddens me.
@@TrophyJourney I feel you, I did own DK64 back in the day but it's one of the games I never actually beat because it was too confusing for me :(
Hey Glenn, whenever there is an N64 game I'm curious about I always check out your reviews first.
I wish I could play it properly again. My N64 controller has a GameCube stick as a replacement and is wayyyy too sensitive.
@@MrJohnlennon007 it's funny you say that, that was one of the things I was struggling with. The sensitivity felt way too high.
For whatever reason I never lost the muscle memory for how goldeneye and perfect dark control. It’s fun absolutely slaughtering friends who come over expecting to still be good at them 😂
Let’s hope the remaster comes out soon!
@@megamob5834 Yeah people don't understand how to play a FPS game with only 1 control stick, always makes me laugh when they can't even strafe fire lol
One of my greatest gaming achievements : earning all platinum trophies on Ridge Racer 64 when I was like 12 or 13 😅
Now I bet I can barely turn / drift a corner on any of the tracks lmaoo
One such game for me is Mischief Makers. I mastered that damn game when I was a kid. I got all the golden gems, I beat the speedrun times... I was crazy good at it. Now? Forget it. Old man Real1 can't do shit
Haha I’m kinda the same
Just peeping in Glenn, you doing okay buddy?
Bad health but hope to be well enough soon to return! Thanks for checking in Cecille
@@n64glennplant Wish you the best of luck, take your time ;)
I used to be so good at single player on both GoldenEye and Perfect Dark.
Metal slug is awesome, classic series
I love your videos your one of if not the best youtuber to cover n64 content
Thank you Adam that’s appreciated
ISS, any one of them, for certain. Back in the day I had both a Nintendo 64 and a Neo Geo CD. I often joke that every time a loading screen popped up on Super Sidekicks 3 me and my brother could finish a match on ISS 98 before the NG CD would start the match. These days I can barely figure out the controls properly on either game and winning a match seems like a Herculean task.
Haha yeah even with controls it’s tough!
I haven't seen any videos from you. I hope you're doing well.
Same, I come back every now & then to see if there are any updates.
Hope your doing well mate. All the best
Great video Glenn, hopefully you make some more in the future because this channel is fantastic and is a wealth of N64 knowledge.
Thanks, hope to be back soon once I get better

Another N64 channel ? subscribed, great content dude.
Also, I agree, 1080 Snowboarding is ridiculously hard (i upload some videos of it), especially when trying to optimise runs.
Welcome! Took your time getting here 😅
If you haven't already, try pressing the Z button just upon landing to suck in the impact. I forgot that one for like a year and couldn't figure out how I used to play it so well.
@@shaun8062 If you're going for fast times or speedruns, you have to hold Z pretty much the whole time to stay at max speed lol. But yeah using Z and landing "flat" really helps.
@@n64glennplant Thank you haha :)
@@jazzabighits4473 Right, I knew that part, but at first it seemed counterintuitive to have it held down in the air or landing until i figured it out again.
Miss the videos, always look forward to your usual Friday uploads. I hope you’re doing ok man. God bless!
Thanks - waiting on a follow up with a neurologist next week but looks like I may be getting quite a serious diagnosis so fingers crossed it’s some good news. Hope to be back uploading soon either way 👍
@@n64glennplant Hope everything is okay.
Haha rewind in racing games is a plague j think!
I'm so grateful for your channel, I grew up with N64 and it's an important meaningful subject to me
Thanks - me too!
@@n64glennplant much love from here in the u.s. glad the UA-cam algorithm led me to ya
Please make more videos, I miss this channel
Any chance you will be doing any more videos?
Hope you had a great Halloween friend 🎃
Yeah now I’m happy just to complete a game, no interest in 💯 any for similar reasons
I would love to see modern tourneys of classics like this. See how players today would adapt.
JRPG means Japanese Role playing game, right? Are there distinct differences between those and regular RPG's?
I remember unlocking everything in that game, and now I can't even finish the first track without my car looking like a crushed soda can
Haha the physics are way too floaty
I love the N64 but I am not very good at most games. The few games I am good at, Super Smash Bros and Mario Party 2, I still play to this day often. I tend to really enjoy the multiplayer aspect of N64 gaming over single player, it’s where the console really shines!
Yeah those 4 control ports make it 🔥
Your little metaphors that you throw in there are hilarious!
Thank you 🙇♂️
I beat 80% of staff ghosts in F-Zero X, back in the day. Now i can barely beat Master mode.
Those were tough times!
The intro described my childhood perfectly… super smash bros 64 comes to mind especially, Nes or Kirby… 😅
Glad you had a nice trip into nostalgia avenue!
Absolutely mastered 1080 when I was a child. Played it a few years back, and wanted to slam my temple off the corner of the coffee table.
Haha yeah it’s so damn rough even with the short cuts
I've never really had a problem with the n64 controller, maybe because I've never really stopped playing the console. I actually kinda miss having unique control schemes for games. Every single modern game has pretty much identical controls if they are in the same genre. That being said, some n64 games are definitely more difficult than I remember them being, especially the driving/racing games. I think that's more to do with bad visibility, blurry graphics and aging eyesight.
I have no issues with the controller as a whole, some games are more playable with it but others are a hinderance compared to modern options
See I’ve always sucked at smash haha
@@n64glennplant I'm certainly not someone that would have won any tournaments, but I'd say I was a pretty good player.
To be fair, even when I was in my prime with that game, there would be plenty of people out there that would have mopped the floor with me.
What difficulty sims on Perfect dark? Also, do you put normal sims or the specialty sims like vengesim/speedsim/etc?
@@jazzabighits4473 I currently have three simulants: HardSim, KazeSim, and FeudSim. HardSim is of course on the hard difficulty level, the others are normal.
As for the weapon set I use:
1. Falcon 2
2. Falcon 2 (silencer)
3. DY357 Magnum
4. Shotgun
5. Shield
6. Combat Knife
Usually I play to 15 kills.
Interesting set of weapons, sometimes I play those but I like to play
1. Cyclone
2. Phoenix
3. Superdragon
4. DY357 (usually not LX if bots are on hard or higher because they'll just 1 shot you from across the map)
5. K7 Avenger
6. Mauler
Also, sometimes instead of a score limit I play to a time limit.
At least the music is amazing while you’re failing! Haha
Super Mario Kart on the SNES played it recently and it’s so difficult it’s painful. In the day I was like Senna always pushing the edge and racing line, hoping and gliding around corners. It’s like I’m driving a tank on ice skates on a razor blade last time I picked it up.
Yeah those snes racing games are hard to go back to
Tony hawk is definitely the epitome of this problem.
I never could get into the series after n64/ps1 era
Git Gud, lol. Yeah, 1080 has an incredibly tough learning curve to it. Having 25-year-old N64 controllers probably doesn't help the situation either.
But I'd say Waverace 64 can be pretty tough too, also Vigilante 8 trying to remember where all the weapon and health spawn again.
Oh, sure, blame the controller, why don't ya... just kidding, you're spot on. All of my old controllers are worn-out and you can definitely feel it. I've rather liked the Brawler 64 and that Tribute new version of the Hori pad.
@@nobel11 Yeah, you're used to the mosre standardized layout too now!
But yeah, those poor analogue sicks literally turn to dust now.
It’s a shame that even now you cant easily and readily get a good n64 controller

Canadian here... definitely felt attacked. Haha
As if there aren't worse countries to lose to, eh? ;)
Fun little fact: all the FIFA games are actually developed in Canada.
So even if we're less into football/soccer than... well, every other country besides the US, we at least have some credibility, right?
Haha Canada we’re always terrible in soccer games back then

I still rule at eXtreme G, because I love that game^^ I do suck at Mario64 these days, ironically enough XD
Wow XG is tough!
Replayed the THPS games on N64 during the start of quarantine then bought the remaster for switch and then replayed the originals and … yeah it’s harder to go back to these ones nowadays
Yeah they’re so tough, remasters make them more playable now in a good way
GoldenEye would be on my list.
Sad how things change isn’t it!
Same here! Beat the whole thing on 00 agent when I was like 8-10 years old. Now I get my butt handed to me on 00 agent on train
For me it's Pokémon Puzzle League for the Nintendo 64
Pokémon Puzzle League is of my favourite puzzle games. The 2 player head to head mode can get pretty intense. 🗿
Cool game but I’m often not good at those types of game
The LGR reference for duke nukem section was oddly satisfying in w fanboy way. Like some nostalgic comic book crossover lol damn what has lockdown done to me eh? Haha
I think it comes down to several factors :
- A lot of these games relied on muscle memory and moves memorization.
And less time as an adult with a massive backlog of other games you’re waiting to play gaha
Yeah ISS was the first great footie game
@@n64glennplant by a wide margin
Back in the day I was able to gold medal all the missions in Star Wars Rogue Squadron and was pretty good at Episode 1 Racer, now I struggle just to complete most of the basic mission requirements in Rogue Squadron, and don't even get me started on Pod Racer lol.
I remember being able to do 360 drifts on Ridge Racer and i won the world league with the worst team in ISS2000 on the hardest setting
That’s some skills there
Funny thing is that as a adult I have more patience than I was a kid
Haha I don’t for sure!
