Congratulations David on your new console & happy to see you’re going to integrate it with Studio One. I’m excited to hear some of your new mixes in the near future. As a Studio one & UA hardware user myself, I appreciate how you explained all the the hookups. Keep up the great work.
This is really cool to watch along with you. . Wish I had space and budget for ssl console but I got the Rupert Neve 5059. It's amazing. Hybrid is where it's at imo.
I’m racking my brain trying to think if my ssl 9 k was labeled in the back. I want to say maybe it wasn’t and one of my engineers had to label it. Would be nice if was labeled tho. Really cool console. Have fun.
Wow congratulations. What a dream. Amazing to watch you go from 100 percent mixing in the box to an SSL Console. I started buying more and more hardware like you and I think I am headed in the same direction. 😆
@@MixingMusicAnalog Thanks so much. I bought 2 warm wa76 units, A WA273-EQ and a Audio Bus Comp and a Pure 2 AD/DA and an Apollo 8 and now have my eye on a SSL Fusion Unit. I has additonal UAD satellite units too and updated my Apollo 8 to Thunderbolt 3. I am slowly being sucked into the analouge hardware world. LOL Something about the way it sounds. Plugins are amazing but Hardware is so different. You seem to get there faster with Hardware. Thanks and again congratulations on that amazing unit. I will you many years of happy mixing
Awesomeness, $50k its worth it ,better than a Cyber truck, love that ssL sound. You might consider a 500 rack in there so you could get neve 1073s and have the best of both worlds.
Colors are very important to identify what connects with what. and this is why I just use the SSL2 and SSL in reason daw because of not stretching and reaching all over the place to tweak anything. But this board looks, beautiful man.
Looking great man! Can't wait to hear a mix off that beast! From astonishingly sunny, hot & still kinda sorta almost locked down Ireland! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️
Hi David, I like your new channel. You are doing exactly what I was planning to do - but with a cheaper analog mixing desk, like soundcraft or allen&heath as the SSL is beyond my budget. But seeing you, how you are integrating the analog desk in your DAW, especially Studio One is very interesting and will help me in my decisions. Great work, David. Looking forward to your next videos.
@ 9:24. I think I might know how to solve your Master Section/UF8 dilemma. You need to build some sort of custom “lazy Susan” that only spins 180 degrees. You either spin the lazy Susan to access the controls on the Master Section or spin it 180 degrees to access the faders one the UF8.
Regarding your issue with the uf 8 or the other ssl controller there is swing-out mounts for racks that essentially would allow you to mount the uf 8 and just swing it up/fold it out to use it, therefore shortening the required armlenght to reach it.
Jesus....,$50k for an SSL origin. I almost fell out of my chair thinking it was about $20k! Awesome board and a future dream for my studio! You da man dave! Keep the vids coming
Why not put the two ssl controllers onto a purpose build sidecar trolley that you roll in or out when needed? A little bit like the old remote controls for the Studer 24 track etc ...would look quite swish.
What about using a small monitor in the bucket above the master section. Or are you comfortable with seeing the big monitor that’s behind the meter bridge. I keep all my stereo compressor in the racks because I have so many. My others compressors would get jealous if I separated one of them and put it in the console.
Looking forward to hearing what this console sounds like. I'm a user and subscriber of Plugin-Alliance's SSL plugins and to me, they are pretty great sounding. Side note: I test drove the BB 105N in my other DAW FL Studio and the CPU usage was high. I was hoping that it was due to the 48k rate I used in FL. I normally use 44k in FL. Then, I tested it in Studio One Ver5.x by creating 20 empty tracks at 48k and the CPU usage was high as well.....It's a great sounding channel strip, but too heavy on the CPU as I've read on other YT video comments. Anyway, keep going on your new journey. I'm a keys player, so let me know if you need some keys on anything your working on...
This thing is an amazing piece of work, it is a magnificent console and congratulations on it dude. Yes the lack of labeling on the back is a breathtaking oversight on a what? 50K console? I almost nicked my Lamborghini laughing about that. What are you going to do? :) Carry on my man! Loving the series.
Congrats on the new console! Hey what about just putting some type of pull-out tray under the bottom of the console? Then you can have your controllers in the sweet spot, and only pull them out when you need them?
Yea, a few others have said the same thing. I need to look under the console and see if there is a place for me to drill holes with out damaging any electronics inside the console.
I was thinking about a pull-out tray. A rolling side cart/desk with a 2nd screen might be nice if you had the space on the side of the console. It would have been really nice if the SSL UC1 had one built-in fader.
Having the same Console and planning my install, I'm VERY Interested in how you plan to integrate your subwoofer into the system... By the way, I had decided that the single faderport was the way to go also instead of the UF-8
NICE! :) I have a 8 ssl x-racks! I really like the e-series though and in the future might invest in this and use my x-rack dynamics. Looks great! Bit annoying that no labels on rear - that would have really annoyed me! well done with the stickers looks great :) For such a cool desk I reckon you need lovely speakers. :) I got the KII Three speakers ! but yet to set them up. yea try the faderport 1 fader as you say. Nice desk! or perhaps a small wheely table (glass round on wheels on metal frame or something, to go under the desk with your midi controllers etc I really wish SSL did it with dynamics built in on every channel! maybe next time. They could re-release the g series that would be awesome! (I've only ever used plugs for that but I would get one if they updated it to be maintenance hassle free. Good choice! It really looks good! I reckon if you watch a movie there you should cover the desk so you don't just stare at it like me and my xracks lol and also keeps it dust free. ebay might do a custom cover im sure someone does one! :) If you could afford it I think get hardware dynamics for the channels, either 500 series black dynamics or whatever, will make it a lot better. in desk rack space I suppose fusion above master section and above uad at far top, with a side rack of 500 series ssl dynamic or . cool :)
Thanks! I do use Focal Sol BE6 near-feilds with the Focal 11 in sub and they sound fantastic! I have been using that setup for 7 years so I am very familiar with the sound. That is why when I first ran raw audio through the board I noticed a sonic difference that when I was totally in the box. I heard it right away. I already have a nice cover for the console and use it when the desk is not begin used. I can not afford another $30K in the SSL dynamics for every channel. Thats what it would cost so for now I'll use their SSL native channel strip in the box for the light compression and the rest of my compression will be on the 8 busses with hardware. Maybe down the road I can get a few 500 series dynamics, 1 at a time. Will see..
I don't know if your are going to mess too much with the fusion or it will be something to set and forget. If i were you, i'll put the UF8 in the center of the console close to me and the master seccion up. The fusion to my side in the rack.
Personally I would put the 2 controllers on a side cart. Moving things around when you need them is inconvenient and you won't use them. I would move the master section up 2 Ru and put the Fusion right in front of you in the first slot. To have an SSL console one day is the dream, but personally I would go with a Duality it suits my workflow more than the Origin. I use a 40 channel Soundcraft Spirit at the moment that I use with Studio One, but one day I'll have an SSL 🤔
The Fusion wont fit in the center section at all. Turns out, it's too deep of a unit so it will sit in the rack for now. I tried the master section to the top and its too long of a reach so I am going to leave it where it is for now. Although I am going to try all kinds of different things to find what feels most comfortable. Thank for the support
@@MixingMusicAnalog You will find that you will essentially leave your Fusion on the settings you like best and it won't change much from song to song. Keep the Fusion in a rack. The side car idea for the SSL control units is a good idea.
Have you figured out how are you going to make the recalls? Are you going to print every channel post process into a new layer in studio one? Perhaps a video on that? Thanks!

I have been using the 2 Presonus Quantum 4848s with my console (Soundcraft MH2) I wish my desk was laid out with DB25s like the Origin. I was using 2 Apollo 16s Gen 2 but after I saw that 1 Quantum 4848 could give me the same i/o as 2 Apollo 16s I sold the 16s and bought Satellites instead. I CAN'T WAIT for your full review if the workflow is nice I will probably pick up an origin myself. Have you thought about putting a small pull out drawer under the master section of the Origin for your midi controllers? Similar to something like a keyboard drawer on a producer desk?
Can you compare the Harrison 7 mixbus 32c DAW console which emulates a real console with the SSL real console and check if there's a difference in sound like you did in your last video no processing just printed sound
Hope one day I can have one in my studio 🔥🙌🏼 recently got the SSLSix in my studio and love it. I use it for recording and summing. Plus I use the monitor control section all the time.
I wish you luck. The Origin is the first analog console that was in reach for me from a price perspective. Most other consoles with this many channels and preamps are 2 times the price
Congratulations on getting an AWESOME console. I'm curious about if you'll keep your SSL clone buss compressor (Dione???) now that you have the actual thing. You could maybe sell a few things and get another UA Apollo to have a 24-track studio. :) Just watched your video where you talk about your new racks and saw that you have TWO Apollo X16s - you've got it covered. Great studio. It will be fun to see how you expand it with outboard gear over time.
Something to think about. I have over 150 songs or beats on my hard drive that I just pull up when needed in Studio One & everything is set the same way I left it. I can't imagine looking at a pictures I took of each fader & eqs on the SSL console & doing them all over everytime I recall a song. It'll get tiresome overtime for me

FOR THE PRICE OF THAT CONSOLE I WOULD EXPECT THAT IT COMES WITH AN INTEGRATED "GRADE A +" MULTI CHANNEL AUDIO INTERFACE AND CONTROLLER WITH MOTORIZED FADERS AND ALL THE ADVANTAGES THAT OTHER (DIGITAL) CONSOLES GIVE YOU AT A MINIMUM FRACTION OF THE PRICE OF THIS (A LITTLE MORE ADJUSTED TO THE MODERN TIMES) ... HOWEVER, YOU BOUGHT A VERY GOOD SOUNDING CONSOLE ... CONGRATULATIONS !!!
You would expect that for less than 50K in an true analog console? No such thing exists. If someone wants that then stick to a digital board. They are great as well
@@MixingMusicAnalog Yes, I know but what I mean is that if digital consoles manufacturers can put all that stuff for about 4k, what can you do with 50k??!!! Can you imagine that beauty you bought being analogue with all those goodies included?? Uff that's a must have!!!!
55,000$ not bad......
They have gone up. i paid less then $50K for mine
I Love SSL but how dare they not label the D-subs! That is cheap shit! I have an Audient ASP-8024 and everything is labeled. Like it should be! I mean you just dropped 50K! Thats not chop liva!
I was surprised to see the board was not labeled either, but I took care of that!
