Thank you! I need this for my fahu crew! They’re not traditional and more palangi so this is so helpful. They’ve done so much for my family. So it’ll be a great surprise! Really helps for the Tongan diaspora to connect to our roots. Mālō Aupito! 🙏🏾❤️✨

Just a tip sis, fakaha'apai's are mostly made out of poly ribbon or ribbon that has a plastic slippery touch and is easy to fold. But besides that your fakaha'apai looks amazing!

Thank you so much!!! I have been wanting to make myself and my 2 daughters one but it is so hard to get my mom and grandma to help these days. Especially since my girls are hafakasi palangi I still want to teach them our traditions and this something I can make with them and hopefully make it a new tradition for our family. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching! So important for our children and next generation to learn ♥️🌺
Malo aupito Megan! You're so right. I try to learn from my own but you have to have the patient to listen and the time to teach someone. Alot of the time it's like made fun of to ask some. But I moved to the States just before they started, including us younger ones to learn. The basics of weaving and making things. So, I missed out. But your videos help me so much, I'm truly grateful to you!
Waw thankyou so much
Omg thank you I’ve been dying to learn this

Thanks for watching!
Thanks I'm going to do mine
You can use a pc. of fabric as a backing for the waist of the fakahaapai
Thank you sooo much for this!! My brother is getting married to a lovely Tongan lady and we want to do a Tongan dance for them but I have no idea where to find these waist garments. Grateful for your video 🥰
I want to thank you again and hope that you continue to make your videos. Just an fyi....the part of the Fakaha'apai that you skipped (it was the part that goes between the flowers and the base)....those are single slip knots that alternate direction. I hope that made sense😊 Anyway, great work🏆🏆🏆👍👍👍❤
Thank you so much! I will try that out the next time I make one!!!! ♥️🌺
This was a nice tutorial, just another tip, fold the accordion a bit smaller, maybe around half an inch. It’ll look nicer and have a better 3D shape :). Cheers!
Appreciate the advise and thanks for watching!
Malo Aupito, how long did it take to finish ?
Does it matter what kind color I can use.
You can use any color combination or amount of colors!
Hello what is the name of the red ribbon you are braiding? Malo
It is the household twine I use to make all my leis. You can sometimes find it at an asian market. I also linked it in the description box on Amazon
