Trying to send you a bunch of followers. I really love your talent you possess and the discipline to learn all these songs. And thank you once again for being so kind to all of your followers. We love you.
That's very sweet :) thank you for your lovely comments. x
Lovely! Really enjoyed your tutorial. Just received a tin whistle for Christmas so needed the inspo! Always loved the Fields of Athenry!
I love your musicianship, and tutorials. The dedication and time it takes to record and mix, and edit, the average person has no idea. That leads me to the second comment.
I always find that your happiness and smile, lifts my spirit for the day. This speaks volumes about your character, and just know that "someone across the pond", (MI, USA) appreciates you.
Spot on Russ. You are completely taken up with the emotion as soon as this piece begins. Delightful, thank you.
Excellent ! ! ! Just when I am slowing down in practicing, you post something beautiful like this, and I am fired up to play again. Thanks.
This channel is the best! I learnt a lot from you, in a month I learnt many songs from u, and I am begginer. Greetings from Serbia!
I really love the tune! I also started tinwhistling since lockdown!
Thank you for the tutorial! I loved that tune, thanks to your friend for a request.
Total beginner here! Just got my Dixon DX005 yesterday and already making a recognisable melody thanks to your fab video.🍀
This is such a beautiful song! I started learning the tin whistle in D and C with your tutorials Cutie Pie! Second song iv learned this one thank you and cant wait for many more to come! Xx
Yeah we're slowly coming out of lockdown here in the United States although I'm actually staying in lockdown for another month just be a little safer I live with my parents so I don't want to bring it home with me beautiful tune as usual thank you love your tutorials they've made learning tin whistle much easier keep up the good work

Wow! fabulous Stephanie. One of my favourite songs and pretty easy to learn.I've even started use your double taps and slow release moves.X yer n best
I'm early! Thanks for so many great tutorials, I'm in New Zealand and only have a tin whistle in D but still try play most songs!
Sounds so soft and lyrical. Beautiful!
I love the tune and will learn how to play it.
I didn't know this song, but it has been love at first sound! "Slow Air" remains my favourite, but this one is so vibrant! It could be good for a World Whistlers Session... 😬 Thank you Stephanie, your videos kept me company through all the lockdown and I'll always remember it. 👋🇮🇹
I waited for a long time this tutorial !! Love this song
I sooo love this tune! Thank you so much! X
Hello Stephanie, it is a beautiful melody. In C it is smooth. Thank so much for yohr teaching. Watch for your health. Greetings from germany 😉
This is a great tutorial, loved the fact that you showed both the common whistle key and the common performance key! I think the 15th and 16th notes may be reversed though? Could be wrong but if not, hopefully catching it will stop anyone getting confused. Still one of the best tutorials out there, I'm subscribing!
Thanks for yours tutorials from Italy 🇮🇹
Just what i wanted we have been in Lockdown in Victoria Australia for the last six months I am from Ireland and have sung "The Field Of Athenry so many times in this harsh Lockdown I have learned the guitar the only thing thats missing is the tin whistle section I Have a D whistle you have given me the notes for that. Thanks again hope you get through your lockdown , Thinking of you,
Danny
What a great tune can't wait to give this one I try ☘️
Athenry… one of my favorites... beautifully played on both D & C whistles. Also being that you have a following 43k, keep promoting safe coronavirus habits as the virus will not end while some folks are always vulnerable. BE WELL Steph!
The C version brings out the real emotion behind the lyrics.
Russ Byne I agree. The one played in C sounds much richer.
There was growing a tiny feather out of your finger. I knew it! You are a fairy!
Hope Wales and the rest of GB opens up soon. I’m going to the beach.🏝
I would love to have tutorial on Danny Boy, Irish Lullaby, Black Velvet Band... You tutorials are tremendous!!!! Thank you!
Could you do a tutorial on dohertys reel by the dubliners please
I love this Irish tune. Don't hesitate throwing in any songs/hymns that are part of Welsh culture, my family if from Montgomery and it is great to learn cultural aspects I never knew. Have enjoyed all the ones you have done already. Keep up the great work.
For pure fun, check out the Dropkick Murphys version of this song!
Thanks from all of us Liverpool FC fans! YNWA!
I tried it with the Sentanta in D (bought because of your reviews of the set), but I think I will try it on my TWZ. Thanks for the new tune. (And 'Elan' which really runs on the Sentanta D).
❤️ Beautiful as always ❤️
Could you please do a version for lark in the morning jig, ( not the Dubliners version) , and Celtic symphony as well if possible
Send me a link to a version you like, I'll add it to my to-do list :)

Am I going blind or are you keeping all the holes covered in dsharp and not removing top hole as in diagrams??
In the D tutorial
@@mdee8843 to play the high D? Yes, I often keep all the holes covered. The 'official' way to play the note is to uncover the top hole, but I find it easier not to 😂 also, some whistles play better with the hole covered, some with it open, so I play according to the whistle too.
Whatever works for you and your whistle 👍👍
Thank you! I thought I was going bonkers 😂… I tried it with all the holes covered too and find it easier and a better sound too , I’m glad I spotted that!
Lovely - makes me feel like going to a rugby match... but could the notes in the illustration be wrong in the first line, third block?
Hi Cutie --- is there any chance you could highlight the notes on the tab sheet to match the notes you're playing - big challenge I'm sure, but I get lost at times trying follow where you are. Thank you
so many you tube videos say start learning on a D whistle. I have played tenor saxophone for three years and want to learn tin whistle. The whistle and accordian player of a very well known Irish folk band says start with a Bb. Now I'm confused. Should I try both ?
Fond her very good thanks
Dear Cutipie in one of your Lovely videos you play on an irish flute. Now I have small hands. Do you have any advice for a begginer on flute with small hands? How to cover the holes?
I can Probably use the pipers Grip But that is not easy at all ☘️ Thanks
Thanks for this! Should the last two notes of the third block on the top line be the other way round - the a and the g switched?
If that's what it sounds like, go for it 👍👍👍
Hi Stephanie, can you clarify the third set of notes on the first line, should it be C B G A and not C B A G
Is it okay to request a video?I would like to see a leaving uist tutorial for a low D Whistle. I'm not good at English, so I'm sorry if it is difficult for you to understand my English.
It's great! Thak you! I love it too! Thank you so much!
I love your tutorials!! Big shout out to you from Durban South Africa! Could you pleeeeease do more stuff with a C Whistle? I only have a whistle in the key of C, and playing the D songs with it doesnt sound thaaaat grand
Sumeshin Naicker Hi maybe you Should buy a whistle in D most of traditional songs are in the key of D And Cutipie plays trad songs often. Mostly She plays on D!
Just worked out why this didn’t sound right when I played it at the beginning. The 15th and 16th notes should be the other way round, g a rather than a g, I think.
Dear Stephanie,
I have a request, could you teach me Battle of Aughrim
Love greetings from Germany
I bough 2 whistles an average D waltons for 6€ and then I payed nearly 22£ for a Clark’s silver 200th anniversary but it seems the sound of the waltons I find very hard to play hog notes. And the Clark’s sounds way to low.
What exact whistle does not let to much air in and has a proper sound
I don’t want to give up up but the sounds just aren’t what I want??
Hello CutiePie. I am teaching myself the tin whistle during the lockdown in the USA, and your videos are so very helpful. In our family we sing "Its the Same ol Shillelagh" often as a fun song and especially on St. Patrick's Day. I have looked for but been unable to find this song for the tin whistle. I then tried to convert piano sheet music I found, but I have not been successful. Would love if you could help with this in one of your videos. Thanks so much.
Beautiful song, thank you very much. Only be advised that in the third "block" that you show the last two notes are inverted, it should be g and then a
It's been updated on the downloadable tab sheet :)
@@CutiepieTinWhistle thanks!
This is one of the few tunes I can play well (not as well as you though). first learned it for the mandolin, now on whistle.
Nice playing.
Like others, one of my favorites and a great video. One thing about the notation, shouldn't the 3rd group on line 1 be "c b g a"? I think that is what you are playing in the video. Keep up the great work.
Jim Covington yep. That’s right, it should be “cbga”. Still a great tutorial.
Hi, yes, when you download the printable tabs it's been corrected :)
Dubliners | Festival Folk (1985)
He is obviously in the key of E and his whistle is notability a higher pitch. Do I need a whistle in E to play with this recording?
Not necessarily. Sometimes you'll need a different key of whistle in order to be able to hit all the notes.
tinwhistletabs.wordpress.com/home/useful-info/
Scroll down on the page linked above until you get to a table of letters. These are the keys that each whistle will play in (there are notes underneath to help you understand the table)
Note on tabs is wrong at 1:09 you played it differently
The tab is incorrect c-b-a-g; Stephanie correctly plays c-b-g-a
Hi! Thank you! I love this tune and will add it to my list of songs to learn! But when I click on the printable tabs, the link is broken.

Hi, love the video, I'm currently learning Fields of Athenry on my 5 string Banjo and have found a local Irish lady who plays the tin whistle who is now learning this tune from your Tutorial. The problem I have is that I'm playing the Banjo in "Double C" tuning and it sounds like it's in a different key to the C whistle. I don't know much theory. So when you're playing this tune on the C whistle, is it being played in the key of C ? Hope that all makes sense. Thanks 👍
Unfortunately I don't know much about music theory either 😕 out might be worth her trying with my tabs on a G whistle (also plays in the key of C). It's just a case of matching the whistle/tabs to what you're playing by choosing the whistle that plays the notes you need using these tabs.
But this might be helpful?

Hello! I really like your videos! but could you share the music sheet if you had it? because it is much easier for me to read the music sheet than the tablature. regards!
Hi Nicolas. Unfortunately, I don't read sheet music very well, and as I work out how to play tunes by ear and create the tabs myself, the sheet doesn't always perfectly match what I play, so it can be confusing for those following a tutorial.
Fortunately though, you can find sheet music to most of the tunes I post with a quick google search :) if you read sheet, you'll also be able to look at what's available and choose which you think will be easiest to follow for you.
You can play sheet suitable for any single melody instrument (clarinet, flute, trumpet, recorder, even violin). If you're missing notes you can use half holing to find them on your whistle, change key or jump up/down an octave to be able to play something suitable :)
I hope that's helpful! x
Often just typing the song title + "sheet music" gives you what you need. I usually start with that.
That is, in google. of course.
I have recently started watching your UA-cam tutorials and I am amazed by the breadth of your knowledge and your obvious enthusiasm for sharing information with your audience. Especially since you admit to being self-taught. I have a question for you. I notice that sometimes when you play the octave D on the D whistle, for example, you cover all the holes, while other times you leave the top hole open as indicated in the tabs. Is this by design? I have found that leaving the top hole open seems to yield a cleaner note, but I'd like to hear your take on this. Thanks.
It depends on the whistle and the tune :) I usually opt for whichever is easier, or whichever hits the note most easily on the particular whistle I'm playing :)
Which specific model or models do you suggest for beginners to use?
Get a Clarke "Sweetone" in high D. They're cheap (around $10), easy to play, lightweight, use very little air, and have the best sound of any entry-level whistle I've played.
(The C model is ok, too, but the finger spacing is unusual while learning.)
I have a video for choosing your first whistle :) ua-cam.com/video/9CXpoO_H60A/v-deo.html
What is out of tune - flute or backing track? Or is it just wrong to me..
Hi Stephanie, I just discovered a thing called "Chordpulse Lite" it's a free download, although there is a paid version too with more features. It's a very easy to use program to make backing tracks. Even in the free version there are lots of good styles that would be great on some of the tunes that you play. You simply click on the chord you want for each bar of the tune and away you go.It's well worth checking out. Keep Safe :)
absolutely wonderful, if you're looking to do any more tutorials I for one would love to learn Tabhair Dom Do Lamh (Give me your hand)
Beautiful, as always! Do you know the tv program Rosemary and Thyme? There is beautiful whistling in the series theme song and throughout the episodes. I'd love to find music or tabs for that music. Love your tutorials, thanks!
I haven't heard it but I'll check it out 😊
Hi Cutie, on the third set of tabs us shows a g but you seem to play g a, can you confirm please? xx
It should be g-a, but it really doesn't matter which way you play it. The tabs are more of a guide for you to get the general idea of the tune. You can play around with it as you please after that. Just play whatever sounds right when you play 💚 x
@@CutiepieTinWhistle Thanks, g a sounds best, but I'm rubbish and playing around with music is easier said than done for me, I have to write the tabs out over the words to get the tempo and rhythm, I have enough trouble getting my fingers in the write place without worrying about minims, crotchets and quavers - if i get half as good as you I'll be more than happy xx.
I saw you and I fell in love
I realy like Your channel, i hope i can play like that some day. Im starting now! If i can have on suggestion, I'd love to hear 'Now we are free' from Gladiator in Your performance.
There is a minor mistake ma'am. In the third set of notes, the G and A are backwards. I love this, and all of your work!!!
Well spotted! ;) I've updated the printable sheet: facebook.com/photo/?fbid=858678754632537&set=a.168032847030468
