We will get our independence one day soon. Us and the Irish have been treated like crap by the English government. I am never British, I am a European Scottish citizen who will never stop the battle for freedom.

This song fills my body with chills. I am not Irish but listening to this beautiful song I feel in my Celtic heart my people, my brothers ... my beloved land. Huge thanks from Galiza
Wonderful heartfelt song. It stirs my soul whenever I hear it. You can feel their pain of separating. I loved visiting western Ireland. Must get back over sometime. I was so excited to learn I’m a little Irish on ancestry.
First heard at a London Irish rugby match. I've since holidayed in Ireland and we were treated with great kindness, north and south of the border....COYI!!
I love this song full of feeling and love, I must visit that town and meet some of those lovely people and hopefully before I meet my maker. UK
Hi Gazza I know there mentality is much greater than that, as I have stated on many articles the few that are still full of hate be careful it will destroy you. I was brought up in London with a strong Irish (both sides of the border) and found your Countrymen great. You should not speak for the Irish people and I will visit. Sorry mate get a life
Beautiful singing. Ireland my second home.God bless this beautiful nation

God bless the people of Ireland! 🇮🇪
I’m American of grandparents from Ireland. My grandparents parents were probably kids during An Gorta Mor…the Great Hunger. Ireland lost a third of its population to death, another million and a half to emigration as people who could, left bone grinding poverty and oppression. Ireland’s economy was just beginning to recover in the 90s…then the EUpulled their forced immigration crap. I so respect the land of my ancestors for turning an anthem of sadness to a modern anthem of national pride in sports…futbol World Cup.🇺🇸☘️🇮🇪🍻🇩🇪 Slainte. Or. Prost, I guess 😊
None can stir the heart like the Irish 💚
I have JUST found this beautiful song, August 10, 2024. My mother's family were all Scot-Irish. I have all the words, guitar chords, and Tin Whistle tabs written out here to start learning this song. Then I will share it with the group of Bluegrass, etc musicians I play with here in Georgia, USA. Sooo wonderful to learn music that honors my ancestors. Many thanks for sharing this wonderful video!
A beautiful Irish song that immediately takes a place in your heart. Thanks to all the people who were there!
Cheers from Sweden ❤ what a fantastic song and performance. Imagine 5.000 people from Athenry who celebrate their city ❤️ much love!
The song is so beautiful and pure. I'm touched by this video to see all the people, old and young coming together and singin from their hearts. It really got me! Thank you so for the music Ireland and your people. Love from The Netherlands.

We're Irish and Gaelic. More Irish than Gaelic. Gaelic encompasses the Celtic areas like Ireland, Scotland and parts of Canada

I was on the ground crew for the quarter final between Ireland and NZ at RWC2019 in Japan and, while the result (an overwhelming victory to the All Blacks) made me happy, the greatest impression from this match was the impassioned singing by the huge contingent of Irish fans singing "The Fields of Athenry" to drown out the ABs' haka totally, There must have been half the 50,000 crowd singing and it was spine-tingling, goose bump-inducing, awe-inspiring. Thank you to all the Irish fans present that day for giving this Kiwi a feel of what watching a test at Lansdowne Road must be like.
One of my favourite songs ever. Goosebumps every time, no matter how often I hear it.

My father ( of Irish descent brought up in Roscommon before spending the rest of his life in England) sang this from his wheelchair whilst being pushed home along narrow street in a town in Majorca at one in the morning. He was 95 years old, sang flawlessly and locals came out to hear him. I was not there but my sister and her husband were with him. When I hear this beautiful song it brings tears to my eyes. RIP Dad💔
