The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
I love Ugly Stiks. Have 3 of them. An original ultra light, a ultra light Elite, and a Tiger elite. All three are excellent tip to butt.
I have the 6’6 spinning and 7ft casting. Love the rod and a big ugly stik fan. My ONLY complaint is the lack of grip on the top of the reel seat.
It is made of “24ton Graphite”. And the rod specs are in the handle section. Love all four of my UglyStik carbons.
I have two of these for all of my freshwater fishing. Works great!!
IMMA UGLY STICK MAYNE. BEEN USE THEM FOR YEARS, AND THEIR STILL PULLING IN DEM BIGG ONES. AND THAT'S BEEN ABOUT 22YRS SINCE I BROUGHT THEM
I have one in a one piece casting rod... a slip down a mud bank and landed on the handle with my elbow. It splintered. I bought a handle wrap from bass pro and haven't seen any issues since
Just gonna put this out there. I purchased this same combo awhile back. The info you are looking for on the rod is towards the rear of the rod in between the end piece and the reel seat. 👍🏽 Excellent review though!
Thank you
It says medium fast action down by the handle. Great rod!!
They are awesome I have 3 of them smooth turn on the reel never had a problem
Have that rod in 6'6" medium light paired with a Daiwa Fuego great spinning setup.
Fire set up
I just bought 1 but it's a 9 foot light crappie rod for 40 at Walmart today is it worth it I'm a huge fan of the ugly stick
I bought a med heavy fast casting one piece. It's feels and is just as light as my Fenwick HMG. I got both 50% off . A Guns and Ammo store was getting rid of all fishing gear. Anyway , it feels just as good as a $140 rod.
Is this a 2 piece rod ?
I've looked on their website and it just comes up with 100% graphite🤙
What lb braid do you use
It says it it between the but and where the reel keep is
What length and power is this rod?
I remember when these came out…. Got one 2 days after….. love them…. I use mine for pike in the rivers
I love both of mine there spinning rods really nice
What brand and reel is that your using
Just picked up the carbon ugly stick 👍
Ugly Stik Carbon Fishing Rods
The lightest and definitely the best looking Ugly Stik to hit our shores, the Ugly Stik Carbon has the same solid graphite soft tip you have come to love, with a crisp graphite blank and stunning grips to take the Ugly Stik well into the future.
Meet the Lightest Ugly Stik Ever! The Ugly Stik Carbon Series Features 100% Graphite for a Lightweight Rod, Crisp Actions and Increased Sensitivity While Maintaining the Legendary Toughness You Have Come to Expect from Ugly Stik.
What do you do with all of these rods that you buy and review? Keep them all or sell off the lesser used ones?
Great question Lol! I normally keep the ones I really like, and the rest either take up space in my garage or get sold on marketplace. Let’s just say I have too many laying around, lol.
Great review, thanks bro 👍
What's the reel brand and model you're using in that carbon rod... thanks in advance
he's using an Abu Garcia Revo X
Just so you know, Carbon is ONLY the name, That rod is NOT made with carbon, its a 100% solid graphite rod.
I think we all know that.
@@yengvang8737 Watch the video, min 2:03, he said, this is a Full carbon rod.
Okay 👍 😂
Action is on butt of handle in black small hard to see. They also have one and two piece rods in casting and spinning
The Carbon has a horrible grip I found extremely uncomfortable so I went with the elite with the cork grip that feels way nicer in the hand, If you have small size hands you probably could hold it but for me the handle ends less than halfway in my hand so my entire back part of my hand is floating in the air and when I catch a fish the back of my hand moves down in an uncomfortable angle to hit the rod part below the handle
What pound braid and size reel u use on it
I run a 30 size reel and 15 lb braid. But I would also run a 20 size reel and it would be fine.
Is it very light compared to elite?
Lighter than the elite by maybe an ounce or two? It’s hard to tell, but if you have big hands you’re gonna like the ELITE/GX2 better- I got little elf hands and it fits perfectly for me with the custom fuji grips
Looks awesome. Some review
Thank you
I had not heard of these rods before. Thanks for the review. At half off I’d say that is a very nice rod. I’m not sure I’d pay full price for it, but I haven’t held one in hand to know. I like the colors and quality components. It would come down to how well it balanced, how crisp it feels in hand (as a rough gauge for sensitivity) and how well it matched up with my reel of choice for casting. I pay attention to line guide alignment and angle of line travel compared to the reel spool when I buy. If it looks like it would work well then I’m in.
Yea I’ve been super happy with it this far. I caught a huge freshwater drum on it a few days ago. It will be in my next video, but I would say the fish was at least 5 or 6 pounds, and it did excellent. I really want to try the casting version sometime.
@@bluecollaroutdoors5556 don't know if you've tried the casting rod but I got one. The benefits of the spinning rod version reflect onto the casting version. Would highly recommend in my opinion
@@socalangler4082are you still using your carbon casting rod?
@@krispyk.1786 yes sir or mam. it still holds up well
Will it be good for carp fishing also?
It wouldn’t be my preferred rod for carp but I did pull in this almost 10 lb freshwater drum with it no problems.

Was not aware of this carbon model but am looking into it now. From the footage you showed catching bass, the rod really seems too stiff which in my thinking means poor sensitivity. Can you please comment on that ?
Also, how would you compare the action of this carbon rod to the Elite that you reviewed recently?
Great observation! So even though the action is very stiff- do not mistake that for a lack of sensitivity. The trend among graphite rods is a faster tip/taper that allows for stronger and quicker hookset. The graphite material also increase rod FEEL drastically compared to its fiberglass rod brothers (GX2/ELITE) I’ve compared the 3 models and the carbon easily blows the GX2 and the ELITE out of the ballpark when it comes to bass or walleye fishing where you need to FEEL the bite and pay less attention to what the tip is doing.
I hope that helps!
You are the God of Money
Does it come in 5.5 feet and 6 feet? Thanks.....
6’
They need to come out with a new real called the ugly stick monster
They got the BigWater
The carbon part to rotate and tighten reels always come off. And no comfy grip. Elite is a better rod
It’s still a 2piece rod
Yep
Mines a 1 piece
