Are you in a relationship and thinking about an ex? Being in a relationship and thinking about an ex is much more common than people like to admit. Everyday I receive comments and messages from viewers admitting/asking things like "I'm in a relationship but I still think about my ex", "I'm in a relationship but miss my ex", and "Why do I still think about my ex even though I'm in a relationship?" Being in a relationship and having feelings for an ex or being in a relationship and being attracted to an ex do not necessarily mean that we actually want to be WITH our ex - which is a very important distinction. Feeling an emotional bond, attraction or attachment to someone from our past is a normal part of the human experience, and it's not always possible to feel complete indifference towards an ex. Rest assured that if you're in a relationship and having feelings for an ex, that this experience does not mean your current relationship is doomed or that you need to get back together with your ex. In this video, I explain what the experience of missing an ex but being in a relationship ACTUALLY means, because it's likely not what it seems! We were objectively perfect together. I don't want to spend my life alone, so I date other men. But they never match up to him so I can't help being reminded of things he did/said. Even though I do my best to block it out of my mind the second it happens. Or I'll have a dream about him, which I can't control (unless I get drunk before bed or something), and wake up crying. I will always love him, but I can't be with him. I'm doing my best to continue with life regardless, but the feelings never go away. I never say anything to the other men and I treat them really well. But it is what it is.

I can evolve more and better now, emotionally, intellectually and artistically since I am without a human relationship. I relate to a lot of people as a friend, a teacher etc. my last marriage of 12 years and relationship of 20 years has only stifled me. I am very creative and intellectually active.
My bf had a marriage and a kid with his ex. She is an important part of his past and in some ways, formed the way he is today (a wonderful man). I’m sure, although he doesn’t tell me so, at certain times, he thinks about his ex. But that’s okay and non threatening because 1, He is in love with me and committed to our relationship. 2, he doesn’t want her back and she doesn’t want him back. They both moved on. 3, I’m a much better match for him than her and he knows it. He is a logical man; he will choose “us” for certain.

I think you should dissect what you wrote maybe you don’t actually believe that. Maybe you subconsciously know he loves and desires his ex.
Periodically, I have to make a list of all the ways we were incompatible, and the bad things she did to me and my children. That helps me clear my mind of the good times, and remind me why I am better off without her. She is the next person’s problem.

The ghost of your past is just that, a ghost, it will haunt you but it is a gift, heartbreak is a gift even if it does not feel like one, you see their face in your head right now but it's not really them you miss, it is time you miss, all the moments that make life wonderful and life is beautiful yet we all know at times it can be horrific but use your ghost to treat the true love of your life better, to be better, I think of a girl that haunts me still yet I've moved on and met the great love of my life and we are married with children, I would not change anything if I could, let your ghost stay with you as a lesson but don't let them be an anchor for you moving forward, your ex is not the same person you remember now and you remember all the good moments, it is a strange thing to be haunted by them but it is normal, you loved them and love is also beautiful, they left a scar on you and if they did that to you then you left one on them, we can only hope they are fond ones, at its core you are haunting yourself, use it and let go, just let go, the true great love of your life will come eventually and you will know it because you are with them the rest of your days, I do not want to be with Michelle again, I love her still but not like I love my wife, you will hurt for a long time and my words will most likely give you no comfort as I cannot articulate it properly, and for that I am so very sorry for my shortcomings here, let the ghost walk with you as a lesson and be better, I wish you all well, all the best from Ireland 🇮🇪

When I broke up with a certain ex of mine, I decided to stop eating. I didn't have an eating disorder to start with, but I was deciding to starve myself, because I wanted to not live without him. In the end, I had to tell the ex, because I was only going to get worse if I didn't try to at least be honest with him and tell him that I still have feelings for him, and that I care about him a lot. This certain ex boyfriend is one of a kind. He has such a lovely personality, and I really regretted dumping him when I did. I needed to talk it out with him for my own sake. I didn't want to feel awkward around him, as I live in the same building as him, and I'd stopped wanting to come home, because of him living in the same place as me. It's not as simple as "Just find somewhere else to live", as our living situation is far more complex than people realize.

I was with my ex for 7 years. It was a toxic and abusive relationship. Both of us feeding off each others anger... then he left me to live somewhere else. I had no where to go so I moved out of state. Shortly after, I found my current partner (and he is the most amazing person I could have ever met). I've been with my partner for the past 2 years. Me and my ex talked things over and are now good friends, but I catch myself missing him so much even though I know I'm in a way better place then I was when I was with him. After watching this, I think what my heart needs is closure. The breakup was so messy and it feels like a huge gash in my stomach. We haven't seen each other for 2 years and we broke up over the phone so there is always this lingering sadness when I think about him... even though we both moved on..
Ok me and the father in my two boys split it’s been a year now. It ended sooo bad . let’s just say it was a toxic emotional roller coaster and was getting to the point of physical. I’m dating this guy sooo healthy to the point I’m not that into it but I stay cause I like him and I’m trying something different and cause it good for me and the kids. Things were great. But then I was blindsided. For 2.5 months he pretended he was ok with a diagnosis. All I can feel is hurt and anger. I could never say something nice long term without an insult. I have moved on into a casual relationship, Im free to do as I please but the last relationship still hurts. (Actually, 2 men that I feel respect me enough to tell me the truth straight up. I can honour that) The bit that hurts the most... "we would still be together if you didnt tell me". (The strategy was to say the diagnosis on the first date.. have the weaker ones walk away and not go on a second date.. I guess that blew up in my face)

Mine is hardly an ex but a girl I dated. She was the girl next door, bring home to mom type. I would have kept her all the way to the altar if given the chance. But I set the wheels in motion to go to the Air Force right before we met. We dated and then it all lead to "the Dance." I brought her to our high school dance where we slow danced together. I held her in my arms and everything was going beyond my dreams. I remember the moment when I let my feeling go. I thought I'm going to have the girlfriend that I wanted. Then it came crashing down. She had an interest in someone else. Now, there was another girl at that dance where I could have done the same thing to her but chose not to. I was told by her friend that it was my upcoming military service that ruined it. Looking back, I wouldn't change anything. I have great memories of the people I met and the things I have done. I am married with two beautiful girls. Due to her brother, I have run into her a few times since. She once asked my friend about me when I was in England.
She is on my Facebook friends list. She is getting chemo for cancer which brings the memories up. I wrote her to wish her and her family all the best.

No just because she thinks about that person doesn’t mean she still have feelings for him. It’s the memories that they had together that brings back them thinking about that person. Don’t be mad at her for thinking about that same person because she’s obviously not moved on but she’s t trying to by being with you but the memories keeps on coming back.

What if I really don’t want a relationship anymore? At this point I only trust my dog. Plus I am older, have severe prostate problems and don’t need or want any one for sex. But to make an effort to be in a relationship with a human may be overrated. Human relationships are basically dishonest affairs. One often takes advantage of the other. In old age I discovered how shitty some of my exes truly were, and how long I stupidly put them in a pedestal, even gave them the benefit of the doubt.

You’ve given your body to that ex and had sex however many times that means that there is a connection and you will always carry it, internally women connect deeply with sexual partners and they always carry them all of them with them, especially when it ends without closure and that’s not a social norm thing that is biological and simply how you are made! Sex for males are not the same for sex for females! It is why when a female has too many partners it ruins her emotionally and makes it almost difficult to have LTRs, for men, it’s physical so they can just have sec with you and shake your hand they next day and carry on with their day like it never happened!
