Kim, yes this IS a great pattern! Oh, Red, White & Blue! Your giving me ideas for a man cave quilt for my husband (he is very Patriotic - I am too!). But, first I'll be making this with a modern approach (I'm an artist and I'm always pushing the envelope when it comes to color/fabric). I LOVE these tutorials; MSQC ROCKS!

I made this quilt for my uncle for Christmas in 2013, because he always appreciated homemade goods. As an older man of 89, I thought it would keep him warm. He passed away 4 years later and my aunt thought I should have it. I stippled the entire thing on my home machine using the quilt as you go method. I also used Tim Holtz fabric for the stars. My uncle loved the quilt. So now I’m rewatching the video just to remember. Thanks for the memories Jenny, Sue

I made this quilt in 2013 using Tim Holtz fabric. The fabric depicted all things NYC. I made the quilt using a quilt as you go method and free motion quilted every single block for my 89 year old uncle who said he was chilly at night. He used it for 5 years before he passed away in 2018. When he died, all of my 6 siblings had their eyes on it for inheritance. My aunt, to their shock, gave it back to me. Five years later in 2023, I still haven’t had the heart to use it. The quilt remains wrapped in acid free paper, just as my aunt returned it to me. My uncle loved that quilt so much, as he really appreciated home made gifts. He cried when he opened it, and cried when he thanked me. He couldn’t believe I went through all of that trouble to make a quilt just for him. It was no trouble at all. Thank you Jenny for a memory I’ll never forget.

Jenny, I tell EVERYONE about your amazing quilting tutorials ... not only do you show everything clearly, but you make it look FUN. Your enthusiasm is definitely catching! (For this technique of quartering two squares sewn together, my expert quilter friend says they're called Quarter Square Triangles, because the outer/raw edges are on the bias rather than the seam being on the bias. Of course it all still works, but quilters need to be extra careful not to stretch the bias edges). :-)

I love this technique so much that I am working on my third Ca. King-size in three weeks. I also started doing the broken dishes blocks yesterday since the technique is the same. Jenny, you are amazing.

Saw this tutorial and knew I had to make this! Had a layer cake that I had purhased a while back, enough for 9 star blocks. I am now adding the borders. Love all of these easy patterns. Thank you so much!

MSQC Team, thanks so much for this wonderful video. As with others, I'm so excited to make this quilt that I'm going to start cutting it as soon as I finish this feedback. Due to developing a brain disorder 10 years ago, I lost most of my quilting skills. Ten years ago I could make 12" quilt blocks with literally 50 pieces in them. I pretty much quit trying to quilt about 5 years ago, but after watching a few of your videos, I'm back in the saddle! The simplicity of this large star block design and your amazing talent for making everything simple has motivated me to try again. I'm confident that I can now make Quilts of Valor with stars for my big brother, my son. and other veterans. Thank you, thank you, thank you! From the "Quilting and Smiling Lady!!!" ☺☺☺

I have never made a star of anykind but I am going to try this. I will have to cut my own layer cake squares but this looks easier than some of the other tutorials I have seen. Thx Jenny for Sharing.

I chose this as my favorite because it was the video that I used to encourage my guild to invite Jenny for lecture and classes. However, I have so many favorites... and lucky for me Jenny keeps making more! Thank you!
