    You do such a great job at explaining this stuff, Mike. I have been using the 1/2 the interval settings when making time-lapses since you first made me aware of it. It really does provide the best motion blur. Keep the great tutorials coming,. Cheers!

    as often, a fabulous video with simple and concise how-to. quick question mike, which intervalometer that you are using that will allow for less than a second interval?

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Bob. So for these I used the S&Q function in the A7iii. It's lower res than a conventional timelapse but if there's enough light, it works really well. 👍

    Hi Mike, you have a great channel. I am getting into timelapse, I see that in some cases you use an interval of less than 1 second, I'm wondering how you do that.

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  3 роки тому

      Thanks for your kind words!
      To get shorter than 1 second exposures, I use the S&Q mode in the sony cameras...it gives you the option of this and gives you a finished timelapse in camera. 👍

    Hello Mike. In your example (1:53) you show a 1/6 sec interval (6 frames per sec) and 1/3 sec shutter speed sequence. In this scenario you’re not following the 180 shutter rule aren’t you? As far as I understand it should be 1/15 sec shutter speed (since most gears doesn’t have 1/12).
    Can you please explain me that?

  • @curtisclement

    What if you were filming a prop driven plane and wanted more prop blur? Any thoughts on that? I’d be looking at S&Q settings

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  4 роки тому

      The best bet would be to experiment with a few different settings until you got what you wanted. The beauty with S&Q mode is that it will give you instant results so you can review it after shooting for a short time and then change the settings to suit.
      As the prop would be moving pretty fast, I'd say you should be able to get away with faster shutter speeds. 👍

    How are you capturing a half second interval on an A7iii? I do a lot of timelapse and eventually run into write speed issues on the A7riii.

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  4 роки тому +2

      Good question Sam...i cheated a little and used S&Q mode. I find as long as there is enough light about, it produces some good results.

    Is there any way to use 1/2 of a second interval in sony interval shoot func?

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Bruno,
      Unfortunately you would have to use the S&Q function to get 1/2 sec interval. The interval mode starts at a 1 second interval or slower.
      I think any faster than that and it would start to fill the buffer up.
      Thanks for watching 😁👍

    • @BrunoGargaglione
      @BrunoGargaglione 2 роки тому +1

      @@mikesphotography Let me get this straight. If you need more than one sec interval in your car timelapse you most likely use sony interval shoot func, don’t you? Otherwise you stick with s&q.

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  2 роки тому +1

      @@BrunoGargaglione That is correct. 👍

    Any tips for knowing what ND to use for this?

    • @mikesphotography
      @mikesphotography  Рік тому +1

      It all depends on how sunny it normally is where you shoot. When living in Dubai, I had to use a 6 stop in the day as it was bright a lot of the time, whereas in the uk, with all of these overcast days, I only have to use a 3 stop at most.
      To find this out, just take a few shots when you would want to get timelapses, and then work out how many stops you would have to change the settings to get a good shutter speed for your subjects movement and speed. This will give you your answer.
      Thanks for watching 😁👍
