- Mark Antony moves to Egypt to meet Cleopatra
I am fond of history and particularly in the history of Rome and I share videos about it. Rome (2005) was one the best tv show and also some kind of documentary. I claim no rights of the videos I share

More accurate too, but netflix is more interested in being anti-White than in being truthful.

This show had the potential to be so much better than Game of Thrones. Too bad it was canceled.
For sure, they could have done a prequel or a sequel. There is so much historical material with ancient Rome.
One of my favorite shows. Not sure what really happened, but the production cost must've been through the roof and with the Sopranos being so successful HBO likely saw the numbers and killed it.
@@pirateentrepreneur2574 the cost to produce a 12 episode season was 110 million. It was at that time the most expensive show ever.

Sometimes I think this may have been the best television series ever made.
after breaking bad, yes indeed
Romans nailed it with the uniforms. Timeless.
If this was their first meeting they didn’t nail it but it was beautiful, all the costumes, etc. They actually met for the first time on her boat, barge, and she mad him wait because she wouldn’t get off her boat. He had to come to her. Marc Antony was also in Turkey when they first met.
and Marc nailed it with Cleo.
Still gives me shivers when I see this scene. These were real people, folks. This lady almost became Queen of Rome. HBO really did a great job with this series.
This show was so well made and good. Felt like watching Gladiator. 😋
I was soooo angry when it got cancelled.
Why?
It wasn't cancelled, it was about the founding of the Roman empire from the fight between Caesar and Pompei to the death of Caesar and then the rise of Octavian to the triumvirate and finally his victory over Antonicus and Cleopatra at Actium.
The series starts with the first crack in the republic as the rift between Caesar and Pompei becomes known, and ends with the first true emperor taking his place in the victory parading Cleopatra and Antonicus's remaining children in Rome.
@@mnomadvfx it was cancelled. The show was supposed to have at least 4 seasons . The creator had to rush the plot in the S2
Where could it go? Caligula? Skip to Vespasian and the sack of Jerusalem? That would have gone over well. Nero and the Christian persecutions?
Yeah. It had to end where it did.
And Anthony was hooked 😂

The Greek witch, as she was called in Rome at that time. Who would guess that Rome would be survived for one thousand years, by a state Hellenistic in culture and character, like the one that Cleopatra ruled. The Byzantine mysticism, the theocratic rule, the blend of east and west, the blend of Hellenism with other cultures, make Eastern Rome the true last Hellenistic power. Cleopatra's revenge from the grave.

Dear netflix ... _THIS_ is what Cleopatra looked like.
Cleopatra was Greek, not even Egyptian. She belonged to the Greek family of the Ptolemies, who ruled Egypt after the death of Alexander the Great. And Cleopatra is a Greek female name. Before her reign, Egypt had been a Greek colony for more than 250 years. Cleopatra lived in Alexandria, a city built by Alexander the Great, in which Greek standards of culture were maintained. The fact that Cleopatra is heavily portrayed in all films as an Egyptian in the ancient Egyptian entourage is due to ignorance of history
Well, very soon she won't even be Egyptian anymore, but Nubian.
@@julius43461 I doubt those morons at Netflix even know what Nubians are lol
She was Egyptian in the sense that she was from there and her parents were from there.
@@JewTube001 I agree that Cleopatra was from Egypt. But the controversy surrounding the Netflix series revolves around whether she was of African or European descent and how correct it was to portray her as African in the series. By her origin, Cleopatra was a Greek from Macedonia. She was from the Ptolemai family, who ruled Egypt but did not mix with the local population. Brother-sister marriages were common in this family. And the Ptolemies, like Cleopatra, lived in Alexandria, a Greek city built by Alexander the Great, in which there was mostly Ancient Greek culture. And Cleopatra in films is always portrayed as an Egyptian in the scenery of Ancient Egypt - this is not right
the ost is so damn good. wish it was longer
God they did such a beautiful job with the helmet and the armor and his sword...
An alpha always recognises another alpha.......
1:02 He tilts his head just like Roberto Benigni in a similar scene in the movie "Monster" (1994). 😉😆
We knew a great deal about these.
the strange thing is that she married Marc Anthony, Ptolemaic family never married outside the family and even less with foreigners or not so powerful people
First few ptlomeys married seuclid wives. Not to mention every ptlomey after had multiple wives who were often foreign. However their first wife had to be their sister, their offspring would inherit the throne. Offspring from other wives couldn't inherit the throne.
she was being strategic.
Una de las mejores series realizada
This was a great show, unfortunately it got cancelled due to cost as it filmed on location in Italy.
It wasn't cancelled for cost.
It's all about the founding of the Roman empire.
They could have finished it at the end of season 1 which would have made something of a cliff hanger but still roughly in line with the Shakespeare play Julius Caesar.
@@mnomadvfx one of the creators said there were plans to make 5 seasons and end it with the death of jesus.
@@JewTube001 which is why they introduced Herod to connect the series to Judea.
The Rome series should have ended with Nero.
In real life Cleopatra was no way as beautiful . It was her personality that captivated men .
Actually the casting directors chose the perfect actress. She resembles the statues of her the most out of any other actress who played Cleopatra.
@@RH-td7vc the statues aren't going to make her look inbred though.

AWSOME SCENE
He lost an Empire over that Woman.... I think that decision is up for debate...
This is why the Roman Empire was so great, because as the Empire expanded, they mixed, took in and assimilated with other Cultures, even drawing Generals, Senators and eventually Emperors from everywhere in the Empire. Not just for a brief period, but for over a thousand years....
No other civilization comes close.

GLORY TO ROME

“Promise you’ll send for me.”
“On my life. I promise.” 😬
Much like Carnivale, HBO fucked up big time cancelling this show.
They ran out of money
Rome was fantastic with a brilliant cast & outstanding production value, etc. although the show-runners, writers & directors took a lot of liberties & artistic license for dramatic effe t as they injected a lot of fictional stuff, much of it - the foundation of the story - was based on true events & much was historically accurate. True life can be stranger than fiction indeed. Caesar was charismatic & a brilliant leader, military tactician & politician. Pompey was too & they had that civial war. Brutus, Cassius & the rest plotted against Caesar but the Republic changing into an Empire was a fair accompli. Octavian had that meteoric & almost Improbable rise to power that made him an equal with Marc Antony who he also eventually defeated. It’s a shame the Triumvirate couldn’t last & that a brilliant & accomplished a general as Antony was, he was undone by many mistakes including his fateful romance with Caesar’s ex-girl, the legendary Cleopatra. It’s amazing how sophisticated the Roman Empire was from it’s government to its military & civil services & quality of life. Much of that civilization had a quality of life that could be argued was better than most for the next 1500 years until modern times despite many different practices, mores & norms such as slavery. The Romans had social assistance programs in the form of bread. They has basic police & fire fighting systems in place. Homes were designed to be cool in summer & warm in winter. Elites had villas with heated floors. Public Baths were wonderful institutions that served the people but also became vital meeting spots were deals could be done or legislation enacted.
Roman history is so fascinating & one of my favorite eras besides the Age of Discovery & WW2. I wish time travel was possible. It would be incredible to witness Rome at its height where buildings like the Pantheon wasn’t just a mundane stone facade but covered in marble which must have shone like a jewel. Imagine seeing the Lighthouse of Alexandria or the original pyramids with it’s facade intact. Again, besides being a superlative show, one of the coolest intriguing aspects was so many of the events that happened was true historical fact. They were many ground breaking & important events that shaped antiquity & affected the course of history that we know today. It was a smart move making Lucious Vorenus & Titus Pullo the Forest Gunps of Ancient Rome. We all only wish they had done 5-6 seasons instead of a brilliant season 1 & a rushed & abbreviated Season 2 prior to cancellation. Sad & tragic as all that great potential went to waste.one of the many “What if’s?” Of prior TV Shows?🫤🤷♂️
I think the 2000s was when TV started to get really good, you a had a few shows like Rome, Heroes and Planet Earth/The Blue Planet that were quite big budget and were starting to just have much higher production values and impressive visuals.

This stuff always makes me smile. The blunt truth is that this no-name actress looks much better than Cleopatra ever did. Reconstructions of her sister’s face (whose tomb and skeleton were found and pretty much confirmed), as well as numismatic evidence, shows someone average in looks at best. Cleopatra’s allure was real, and perhaps captured here as best as we can, but it was about her chutzpah and bearing, not her form and features.
It's difficult to know, in the sense that our tastes have evolved and the Roman testimonies can't be trusted. Also, we are not looking at her hair, her eyes the texture of her skin, the way she moved, her voice or her smell. Finally, we know that the most powerful allure of Cleopatra was her mind.
@@jaimeduncan6167 Well, you make my point exactly. But, in fact, we have more than Roman testimonials, we have skeletal reconstruction based upon the skull of her sister. Nevertheless, your final words hold for now as well as then: there’s a whole lot more to allure that can be shown in a movie.
@@jaimeduncan6167 people tend to discuss Cleopatra's appearance a lot. hello there
Essa cena é sobre hathor.
A construção de personagem é fundamental pois Antônio foi construído como o safadão simpático que nós faz nós identificar somos como ele .
Após isso no episódios anteriores ele é humilhado e nos faz querer que ele receba alguma compensação.
E temos o a entrada triunfal ele é importante .
A postura dela é a chave.
E o grande truque é a cara indiferente
Big shoes to fill in I say
Pulo and Vorenus were supposed to witness the crucifixion of Jesus. That was the plan, but it was cancelled.

That's the best they could do for Cleopatra?
I doubt she was even half that good looking. The ptolemy line of succession ran through brother and sister.
Actually this portrayal of Cleopatra is the closest thing Cleopatra looked like in real life. Go look at her sculptures and then look at this woman. The original Cleopatra was an average woman, but it was her intelligence and charisma that made her bewitching.
I mean...she managed to wrap two roman leaders, who could've had any women they wanted, around her finger so she certainly must've had something about her, right?
@@shimanopetermann9068 I mean the standards of attraction back then was certainly multiple times lower then of now .
