- Dungeon Crawl Classics is Amazing (and Horrifying) if you love DnD with a wacky gonzo ttrpgs. I have both played this game and I am running it. So I knew with all of the silly Zocchi dice, weird tables, and funnel So I decided to talk about that very game and why you should give it a try.

I normally don't like classy level based games & Fantasy isn't my genre. Yet DCC is just so danged much fun. I love it. It's also fun to run, which isn't always true of other games.
DCC has a special place in my heart and I really appreciate the game. Its always a high zany time.
I've been playing DCC since the original kickstarter. It is by far my favorite Pen and Paper RPG system. The use of the Dice Chain is brilliant and reduces the amount of math needed in a session. The system actively encourages strange and unique characters through it's use of the Character funnel. The magic system is engaging and fun. It's unforgiving stats make you appreciate the rare high rolls.
I have never once gotten the character I wanted to play to level 1, but everytime I end up loving the character and remembering their exploits.
This system is the best
It really is one of my favorite systems and I hope to run more of DCC in the future!
Also I just love the magic system. It is always fun with the magic system.
@@Blerdy_Disposition We had a wizard that learned magic missile. Over the course of the adventure a Farmer managed to make this wizard his enemy, and the wizard swore to one day get revenge. Going so far as to sneak into the Farmers home while he was gone and stealing some of his hair.
15 or so sessions later, we are fighting a demon in a large mansion 50 miles or so from the town, and the wizard spell burns to max out a casting of Magic Missile. Well a 32+ casting of MM lets you target any entity within 100 miles, provided you have direct knowledge of them and a physical memento of the target...
Many days later we return to town to find there is a funeral happening for the farmer. He was out in his field when he suddenly fell dead. He looked to be struck by an arrow, but no one could find the arrow, or the wound...
I really like DCC, at least in theory because I have only played a funnel and can't get my regular group to try it😢
Even as the forever DM I want to run games where the randomness of spells can absolutely flip am encounter in a great or horrible way and make warriors/martials turns different every round.
I have also bought a Humble Bundle with 30+ adventures that need to see the light of day

Just played the other night. Had a blast and no one died, though 4 PCs came out of it with mutations. Gonna play one of the holiday modules next.
What was the module you used? And what's the holiday module you are looking into?

I think Joseph Goodman has said DCC isn't a revisit of old school D&D, it's a reimagination of appendix N literature in a tabletop RPG. So the influence is less D&D, and more the literature that influenced D&D.
Also, I think it's a bit unfortunate that so many focus on module play in DCC. So much of the flavor in the rulebook only shines in campaign play.
Agreed I think there is a lot of merit to campaign play. DCC even has campaigns like Purple Planet. One day in the future I would like to play/run them in the future.

I started with BECMI in 1994, and I love DCC so much, its like discovering RPGs for the first time again. The art, the magic system, Mighty Deeds, its absolutely a blast to play!

DCC is problematic AF, don't care lol, played it, love it. It's so retro it's new, IMO
