    I know what it's like to restore a classic car & that's a daunting task. The similarities of one item/piece at a time till it's complete, but that's nothing compared to the garganution task & timeframe of restoring a plane. My dad was a general aviation mechanic in WWII for the USAAF & later at the Alameda Naval Air Station in California. He singlehanded oversaw & did 90%+ of the work on at least 1 plane at the Naval Air, a total strip down & reconditioning & restoration. He had a decidated hanger, 50+ feet of tables w/blueprints & everything else necessary to do the work,. He had the luxury & ability to get all parts from manufactures & US Naval part stores, so his job was much easier than this project. My hats off to these folks on this multi year project. Best Wishes...& can't wait to see each installment of this planes journey!!!

    Very nice work there. The ultimate detail work occurs on flight aircraft. These fellas putting together custom hot rods on TV hold nothing to this kind of work,,they have it super easy comparatively. Helped my late father restore/recover/repaint a Bellanca Citabria. That was a job into itself and we had all the pieces we needed. A update on the De Havilland Mosquito soon?. The ultimate light weight twin engine hot rod of the sky. I know that's going to be a marathon project as well with all the laminated wood structure that hopefully is intact enough for patterns. Good luck and thank you for the updates.

    As a kid in the 70's 80's I grew up watching WW2 docs along with cartoons and loved the Spitfire It wasn't not fo ryears later Playing a online video game with hundreds of players from around the world. That i first seen the Tempest Mk V along with 300 other aircraft from USA, JP, Ger, UK, RU But this Aircraft really stood out to me with its flight abilities flaps 1 to 6 settings Dive speed cannon fire Bomb loads and range
    I was sad to hear there was no active flying Tempest V around and the one i did see whole is a display as a Target drone paint colors of ugly Black and yellow ..Its said this aircraft was being built passed the end of the war and going from the factory to the metal scrap yard Due to a contract

    Amazing that to think one day a single Hawker Tempest will return to the skies! to bridge the gap between Hawker Hurricane's & Hawker Sea Fury's. Great to see these updates its much appreciated :)

    This is basically how that guy says, "I haven't done anything."
    I guess when you're working on 20 planes at once, it's hard to keep track of everything after a while.

    • @MarsFKA
      @MarsFKA 3 роки тому

      This guy is working on *one* plane, for which spare parts are pretty well non-existent.

    As much as i love your collection Kermit i cant help but feel this aircraft will never fly again. It needs to go to Richard Grace so we can have it fly with the Tempest II he and his team are close to completing

    I never knew how long it took to restore a plane but damn I couldn't do it I would get tired of it fast.

    I think it would be interesting to know some of your backgrounds (restorers) are you from RAF back ground's? Just fascinated in certain types of aeroplanes? Engineers etc?

    I would like to know one thing :Sabre engine in Tempest V uses 150 octane fuel..is it still in production or you will use some octane booster?

    • @NoTaboos
      @NoTaboos 5 років тому

      Still works fine on lower octane. This plane won't be needed for combat, you know.

    Is there anyone that can make a Napier engine run properly? I understand they were difficult when they were in service.

    Why does everyone call these projects a restoration, when what there really doing is building a complete new aircraft from scratch. The whole airframe is new built along with almost everything else on the aircraft copied from either aircraft drawings or original parts. Is this not a copy of an original Tempest.
