Polomar Knot is hands down the most secure and easiest knot to tie. Knot failures happen to the best of fisherman. Use a surgeons knot for connecting braid to mono. Quality line and tackle make for better fishing, especially in a yak.

Good call trying to fish the outgoing tide. Having lived in the Lowcountry for years, I have consistent luck with outgoing tides, less so with incoming tides. Keep up the great vids!

Friendly suggestion to prevent loss of fish: Double circle knot with Spider Wire. You will never lose a fish to a failed knot again. Your technique looks great. You just need better line and better knot.

Believe it or not, pier fishing central California we just happened to bring along night crawlers. We tried them out and caught fish pretty quick! I suppose they squirm in the salt water and die in a few minutes providing a lot of motion. They lasted only a few minutes. Just a note of interest, but it really surprised us.

Just found your channel and subbed. I am curious and have a question. What do you use your Lowrance on a kayak for? I usually kayak fish in very shallow water and do not need a sonar/fishfinder but a gps might be useful. I love my Garmin in my boat though.

I fish the Wando from my kayak. Caught a number 28 in. reds back last year, but none since. The reds move around so sometimes hard to chase on a kayak; however, Plenty of trout the way I fish. 15 on a typical good day. I have a few clips on youtube under Charleston SC kayak fishing. I fish from Daniel Island.

Put the line through the eye of the hook and then pull about 2 inches through and pinch the line end against the main line making a loop around the hook. Twist the hook to add wraps to the line at least five times then feed it through the tiny opening below the wrapped line you should now see a tiny loop above the wrapped line take the free end and pass it through this second loop. Then tighten the main not before pulling on the tail end again to tighten loop. After you tie this knot a few times it will become muscle memory and it never ever lets go the line breaks first.
