- Ight Fishaholic's so ten years ago I traveled to Saint Martin with my family and fished for Tarpon but failed to succeed in actually catching one. So I returned and achieved my childhood dream and caught some crazy silver kings! Tarpon are awesome fish and you should definitely pursue if you get the chance. Put it on your Bucket List!

For landing more tarpon, some tips are: loosen your drag, bow your rod on the jumps, replace the trebs with singles, use mono leader not flouro (for a little bit of stretch). ive been tarpon fishing for years and wish i knew all of this when I started out.

Its better if you use one hook baits like a swimbait, you can hit them so much harder and the hook will penetrate better. Also point the rod towards the fish when it jumps. Bow to the king

Don’t bow that’s for fly fishing bitches. You can just pull on them and turn their head when they hit the water. Just don’t pull mid jump or you will break the line.

Just came back from St Maarten. Fished this exact spot. I was on the wall fishing. Hooked like 18. Landed 1. All were in the 3-4' range. Wow!

I love fishing. My Dad use to catch large Cod. Delicious.
Thank you for this. I went to saint Maartin and the fish in that canal have tripled in size. After three days and plenty of break-offs and lures spit back at me, along with three trips to the tackle shops, I finally caught and landed a tarpon about 25-30 lbs. It took a bucktail! Never was able to hook one on a treble hook. I wanted to post a picture but could not figure it out!

Just watched this what a great idea for fishing pole on ship! I have been to st marteen and Rhode that black mamba boat to the island, my kids sands toys fell off that boat and in the water lol! Nice video and now you catching tons of tarpon in Florida! Love your stuff and have a few of the setup you use. I live in Rhode island and fish all your spots on your vid’s. I also do all the fire inspection at JWU XAVIER DORMS WERE YOU ISWD TO GO TK SCHOOL ANYWAY! Love your stuff keep it up hopefully we can fish in Florida together one day!
Four fish I have always wanted to fish for and they are Bone Fish in the flats, Snook, Marlin and Tarpon. I am hoping the next time I am in Florida to see what I can get. Great video.

To aggressive on hookset, and i really dont know why i see a lot of anglers pump fish in that hard :S. you got a reel with brakes for fighting, why rip the lure out of the mouth of the fish

Man, Philipsburg St Maarten. Fun memories at a local tiki bar near the port called The Dirty Sanchez Crew Bar. It isn’t even on the map, but it’s the first stop for cruise ship workers. And beware, the “hot pepper” shots are sneaky.
Mikey Dip haha yeah It was pretty lit on the cruise so the islands were like half time. Hotter pepper shots though 😆
They filled a large portion of the pond in recent years for construction of municipal buildings. Also the islands landfill backs up on it.

That tarpon fishing looks so much like fishing back bays and lower tidal channels in the Northeast for tailors and big schoolies/small keepers.

Waiting for the annual mullet migration around the new Smyrna beach FL. area. Tarpon are everywhere just off the beaches. It's a blast on a fly rod or relatively light tackle...
A trick I recommend in landing Tarpon is pointing your rod at the fish when it jumps. This is referred to as “bowing to the king”. Helped me in landing Tarpon 4 times the size you’re catching in this video.

Oh my God I found you I was on the same cruise you were on. Out of New York I keep seeing you I passed you on the Four wheelers at the first spot You fish and I was trying to find you’re channel and I finally found it! Do Cruise lines care if you bring your fishing rod and do you have to fishing licenses for the islands that your on? 😃

Even if you get the ticket for fishing with out a license when will you actually be back to goto court, and not like they will make a world wide warrant for you over a fishing license 😂
you dont need a fishing licence on most small islands and especially st.martin
(or my home thats why i know)
Most countries don't have saltwater fishing license.

when I went tarpon fishing in Puerto Rico the one thing my guide told me not to do was set the hook...it's counter-intuitive but you gotta let them hook themselves and jerkin' it is only gonna rip it from its mouth
