Fun to follow you choosing you monitor. It would be interesting what you will say in 4-5 years from now, probably you should do a follow up video then :) My studio is equipped with PSI A25, ATC SCM 25, KH310 and Avantone Mix Cubes. And to be honest, the monitor I would through out is the KH 310, however they are inspiring to work on, but as soon as it comes to mixing they are not useful to me. However, I would say there is no perfect monitor, and in my situation, if I would only mix on the PSI, I would not be as happy with my mid range in the end of the day, and if I only worked on the ATC, I would miss the most upper frequencies and also probably not be as dialed in when it comes to the full spectrum of a mix with in terms of time and space.
Congratulations on your new monitors! I’ve recently completed the under 10k 3 way monitor journey myself! This series was great to watch. Thank you for the immense amount of work I know this entailed.
@@EdThorneI auditioned the Focal Trio 11be, Adam S3H, PMC 6-2, ATC SCM45a, Barefoot MM27, Genelec 8351b, ATC SCM25, and Genelec 8361a. I wasn’t able to listen to a pair of KH420’s or PSI’s as I have zero social media presence and getting demos is very difficult in Germany. After hearing the 8361a’s at Blackbird Studio studio C, and Mike Elizondo’s studio I decided to go with them. My rooms dimensions are not ideal and I must say the genelec’s GLM System helps out with that in a huge way. Monitoring is very subjective and great mixes have been achieved on all of the monitors yourself and I auditioned, but the Genelec’s suited me best. Thanks again for your excellent video, and enjoy your beautiful PSI’s.
This speakers are on my wishlist but I need to wait some time to collect the money. At the moment I have pair of A21m which are also really good speakers. But since I’ve listened to the A23m here in my studio I was blown away by the midrange. Yes. KRK ROKIT 5's will now become the new studio standard, for decades to come! ... But ONLY with a rolled-up sock stuffing its bass reflex port. The type of sock, let alone material composition, will remain veiled in secrecy for decades too - as Ed will keep that a secret.
Yeah, I'm definitely with you on the analog vs DSP thing... every speaker I heard that uses DSP has some weirdness to it that is difficult to describe, but is definitely there. I find it distracting. Its especially prominent in the Barefoots and the newer Genelecs. That's why ultimately I went with ATCs, they have many of the same features as the PSIs and sound incredibly natural to me. I think we have different tastes in sound as I prefer a less scooped sound with more clarity in the mids, so the ATCs were for me perfect. Evenr the 25As have enough bass for my small room. Unfortunately the only PSIs I've been able to listen to were 2-ways, but they are absolutely excellent speakers! So congratulations! I think once you get a Trinnov system in there, everything will be perfect, and you probably won't need a sub.
Thanks, Wes. It seems to be a popular contest between ATC and PSI when people decide they want all analog. (Is it the only contest? What other all analog speakers are there?)
Hey great and informative video re 10grand studio monitors! Have seen and heard so many gush over the ATC's- and deservedly so. So to hear that PSI have bested ATC's efforts is both interesting and amazing. I've never listened to PSI monitors but have always been interested in their baby A14- the broadcast versions with the carry handles on top. I like the idea of being able to take my hi end monitoring system with me wherever I go! Plus analog circuitry all the was for the natural sound and response, set by the manufacturers. Have ended up with a set of "super nearfields" by a company called Abacus Electronics- out of Nordham Germany. C-Box 3(in concrete). All analog, with no DSP, reflex ports or passive radiators. Totally closed mini wonders that somehow manage to play all the way down to 35HZ. Apparently a German Mastering house secret! On another note- with regards to your new monitors positioning. I'm thinking wouldn’t it be better to have the tweeters/mid driver units on the outside with regards to your setup.. Ideally you want as near as perfect an equal sided triangle between the monitors and your head. What with bass being monophonic, wouldn’t it be better to have the LF woofers on the inside and take advantage of a wider sweet spot, whilst also completing the equal sided triangle monitoring position.. I'm sure you have your reasoning for this but just a thought;))
I have the same speakers as well. Only one thing more to mention. Besides all the facts mentioned in this Video they‘re still very pleasing, natural and for a mastering grade speaker charming to hear. And they dont give you the feeling you want to switch them off after sometime because of beeing overprecise and analytical. So said i‘m coming from Adam Speakers. Love my A23‘s a lot. I think i will never buy a new Studio Speaker. Greetz from Switzerland
I'm pretty sure that you will buy a MUM-8 because of the new technology of the cabinet , drivers , amp etc and to be honest , the price is also more than fair , £4,162.50 a pair . I'm also very interested to buy a pair of these in future !
Brilliant! Having walked this road not that long ago I can definitely say that you made the right choice. You will hear the differences in your mixes immediately. \m/
@@EdThorne I'm happy about your decision, I got a pair of type 07 , soon I will finish my new room and listen properly, thanks to share your experience, I got the same as well, it's was a pleasure to meet you at gear fest and I hope the best bro
This was how the PSI distributor suggested having them in my room. I will try them the other way round when Trinnov arrives (and the subs) but it’s such a ballache to room correct with the Neumann MA1 system I can’t be bothered moving now I have them in a sweet spot.
I've just been comparing the A23M with the Barefoot MM27s today in my studio. Couldn't get on with the Barefoots, but the A23Ms are amazing. Going to be ordering a pair on Monday.
@@EdThorne Streaky made a video about Barefoots a while ago saying something very similar to what you said, which he followed up with another video that should have been entitled "damage control."
Awesome monitors! Does PSI specify that the mid/tweeter array should be inside instead of outside? Have you tried both positions? Just eyeballing it looks as if your mix poz is outside the triangle.
The UK PSI distributor suggested I set them up like this in my room. I'll try the other way around when Trinnov arrives. I can't be bothered re-calibrating the room because it takes so long with the Neumann system.
I remember checking the price of the PSI vs the MUM8 and noticed that they were very similar in price. I didn't realise (much to my shock) that the price for the MUM8s was for a PAIR. The fact that Mark and James were able to get THIS close on what is effectively their first try and literally almost half the cost of the PSIs is a testament to their incredible work. This was a fantastic video series, Ed. Thank you for taking us on the journey and as a subscriber to both you and the wonderful PDP chaps it was great to watch the collab between you two. Great chemistry and I think it was an excellent idea.
I was expecting you to have the XM Pulsars! I'd love to hear more about the DSP vs Analog thing if you have a minute. I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on either PSI, XM, or 8c. Thanks so much!
Proximity to them in the listening position. I may try them the other way round but I’ll wait until Trinnov arrives because calibrating with the Neumann MA1 is a ballache.
I nearly swapped my KH120’s for a pair of secondhand PSI A17’s to use with an Eve TS108 sub. Unfortunately I couldn’t try and return if I didn’t like them which put me off. Im considering changing my Eve TS108 sub for the KH750 or sell both the Kh120 and Eve sub to get the KH150. If another secondhand pair of A17’s come up I might be more tempted this time.
The 150s are decent speakers but have the same sonic character I don’t like about the Neumann’s (which they all have). The sub is good and the room correction with the MA1 mic is very good! If you get the opportunity to buy PSIs again, you won’t regret buying them! They’re night and day better to me than the Neumann’s. Also, they’re a purchase for life. They’re like a classic Ferrari - they’ll always be amazing!
@me-zx2rs Yes I have to say I still love my KH120’s. Having gone back to analysing my mixes, I’m not experiencing the low mid issue the Ed had. I find the KH120’s just let me hear my mix for what it is. However, I have been using them for over 12 years, so I am VERY used to them! I’m still weighing up whether to upgrade these to the KH150 or get the KH750 sub.
@me-zx2rs Yes, having worked on some much higher end speakers before, I’m not feeling the need to upgrade from my Neumanns. I just need to decide on whether I will change my Eve sub for the KH750dsp or swap my KH120’s and Eve sub for a single pair of KH150’s!
thanks dude great output....after all the deliberation, it really would put the cherry on the cake if u did try the dutch & dutch.. especially now you've found your forever speaker.
@@EdThorne this is it :) like the difference between a Tesla or a Land Rover.. but that 8c coupled bass & the cardioid tops, open source DSP, such a tease, :) I need to know haha
Got this info from an insider ..... Ed has actually picked the Jensen JS65T 6-1/2" 3-way car speakers. The magic is in the mid range and these have them and he doesn't have to go out to his car to figure out if the mix is perfect! Nice pick! Affordable too! Nah .. it's gotta be the MUM-8 💥
Hi! Congratulations on your purshase. 😊 I'm going to update my studio, very soon, and I'm thinking buying the PSI A25-M Studio Red. However, there is one issue that worries me… The Iso-Pucks. I have always used monitor stands to better highlight stereo sound. So, I'm considering purchasing a pair of Zaor Stand Monitor Cherry/Black. These stands apears to be solid, and already come with a rubber base. So, do you think that it is still worth using 4 IsoAcoustics pucks, above the rubber base, or just put the PSI directly on top of the Zaor rubber base? I'm going to put the PSI vertically, by the way. Thanks you very much for your time!
Hi Ed, I like your channel and info-reporting. Congrat! Given that you have decided on PSI monitors for your studio, I am wondering if you have perhaps compared PSi with Dutch & DUutch and if so, what is the essential difference? I'm also curious why you didn't choose MUM8 monitors? Thank you for your prompt reply, best
Thank you. I couldn’t get hold of the D&Ds but heard good things. Jeremy at Recording Studio Loser has just done a video on them though. The PSIs have a rich low end, spacious top end, and depth I fell in love with when I heard them. The MUMs are great but I felt they weren’t quite for me.
Thanks for the review Ed! just ordered some 2nd hand A25-M speakers (earlier versions that have the power LED top-right of the woofer) for the grand price of £3250 using my "new car fund". It's one of the best financial decisions I think I've ever made in my life. I mean, I have a bicycle to use in the meantime! 😂 Picking up my pair today in a few hours. Will trial them with/without the Neumann KH750 subwoofer and with/without the MA-1 alignment to see whether Neumann's implementation would work well with these vs my old KH120As. Should be interesting!
Blown away by them! Using Neumann KH750DSP to flatten the room and extend the system down to 18Hz. Definitely going to up my mixing skill as I was obviously limited by the KH120As. I can hear that now. Next purchase will definitely have to be a Trinnov Nova.
What is the woofer size on these? I saw they have specs but i'm not sure which correlates with how other manufacturers measure? Woofer ext. diam. 9.4 in W. diaphragm diam. 6.8 in
It’s been really cool and helpful watching you go through this process! Wondering if I can get your advice. I’m saving up for my first pair of monitors. Right now I mix on a pair of Neuman NDH30 headphones. Do you think I should buy something less expensive, like Kali IN-8s, just to start practicing on monitors, or should I wait until I can afford a forever pair like the Ex Machina GamidS?
Oooh, good question. I would suggest buying the best speakers you can afford now. Then in the future when your ears and mixing skills develop you can upgrade the next weakest link on the chain (speakers/interface (converters), etc). The Ex Machina’s are VERY good speakers!
@@EdThorne Thank you for your advice! Yeah, I think the Ex Machinas might be my “forever speakers”, but I’ll need to test a few pairs in my room like you did when I can afford it. Your “weakest link in the chain” comment made me realize something. I think tge first thing I’ll actually focus on is perfecting my room treatment. Thanks again Ed, and happy holidays!
PSI... the B roll said it all 😂 These are my toss up between the MUM's at the moment. Natural sound is a very important thing for me. I want to know what what emotion I am adding more than anything. The present day production lads had reviewed them just before starting to make their own. I will be mostly likely going with the MUM's for Atmos... but may get these for my stereo setup. The Modern Day Production guy will have the setup for me to test these next to the MUM's. Great like series. gave me a lot more insight than any reviews I've heard
Haha. Those who know PSI would have guessed it straight away but I wants to dangle carrots for everyone else 🤣 For me, choosing between the MUM8s and PSIs, came down to DSP Vs Analog, and the richness in the low end on the PSIs. The MUM8s are tighter in the low end, more akin to the PMCs but nothing came close to the lush and expansive top end on the PSIs.
I've been considering these for a while - Really enjoyed working on the A21's (which are basically this speaker san mid range driver). The ATC25/45 mid-forward sound (compared to the 21s) just wasn't as nice when I tested them, but in hindsight maybe they would've been a better bet... The 21's aren't hifi as such - it's all there - but there's a sweetness which might not be genuine..or they're just piss-easy to work on! Who knows! Did you listen to the 21's vs the 23's at any point?
I’ve heard the A17s/21s (can’t remember which model, but the two way). They’re great speakers but I definitely missed the three-way system of the 23s. They’re unreal!
ED Hi ! Your content is great ! Off topic, I see you have both IGS Rubberbands and WES Prometheus.. If you put fancy specs. like M/S and plug-in control etc. aside, which one of them would you prefer sonic stampwise? I want get a 500 Pultec style EQ mostly for mastering purpose and can't give a decision between two, so maybe you can put your 2cents. Thanks in advanve!🙏
Hi there. Thanks. I am literally planning a video comparing these two! The IGS is juicy and thick sounding where the Prometheus is more neutral and way more flexible. My IGS lives on my drum bus post compression and Wes Audio on my mix bus tickling some mid/side processing.
@@EdThorne so that means you heard the ex machines last but placed them second. Correct? I don’t know why but I feel like the mum8 and ex machina are not quite in the same ballpark. Would you say the ex machina are more true to the source in terms of clarity, sound and dynamic resolution? I am looking into a new pair of monitors for mastering purposes and although I would have loved to have the Dutch & duch 8c for that, they are to far out of reach right now. But from what I’ve heard from atc, barefoot, KsD to neumann and Kii three the 8c are the best. So after watching all your podcast it got me very intrigued how these new bad boys compete in an already saturated monitor market. And, don’t ask me why, but the mum8 are freaking nice. And for that price tag it’s really unbelievable. The question is do and can they deliver like the others for mastering? Thanks for your time and sorry for this long post.
Hey Ed, can you review the Rodecaster duo, specifically from a music production point of view? It’s quite expensive but I’m a streaming musician and I want to know if it will work well. I’ve only seen one channel touch on guitar with it, but I don’t know how well it integrates into OBS or my Daw software. It has really great mic preamps but I don’t know if it could replace my interface setup
My take is that the Hypex DSP is possibly a bit dated.. it uses a miniUSB socket, which IMO dates it to being several years old in design. Should Hypex update their range, the MUM-8 might get even better!
The drivers are important (and PSI have very good in-house made drivers too) but how you integrate them with the crossover can make them shine or break them. PSI have a highly overengineered crossover, where there is a compensation circuit for everything. On the old website there was a step-response graph that showed they can actually reproduce a squarewave, which is normally impossible with a normal 4th order Crossover, especially an analog one.
hey you sure have a great monitor with the Psi m23! 😉 We Swiss already knew how to build good speakers!😉😂 I had Piega in the studio for a long time - they are the developers of the coaxial ribbon tweeter! sound incredible! and is built in Switzerland! is used more in hi fi - high end.. also works great in the sound studio.. very high resolution!😉😘 But I switched to the PMC 6.2 myself, for me it's the perfect sounding studio monitor.. sound excellent.. and for me the best low end I've ever heard!😱👌💥 ❤️and super mid and hi sound, fantastic stereo image and bass depth!😍 They should better stand on stands and have a listening distance of approx. 140 cm! Only then do they really sound excellent!😘 Otherwise it is better to choose another studio monitor!🙏The PMC 6.2 needs air to breathe!😂😉🙏 But what I'm thinking about increasing the psi on the Avaa C20 to get the bass modes in the room under control is an active bass mode remover. really brilliant technology! Check out the low end in the room and the reverberation time below 40 Hz!👊🔥💥 This part is really magical! But I'll definitely need 2 of them and that's about 5500 Swiss francs for 2 pieces!😢 but it does an excellent job!❤️💥🔥
Hi there. I LOVED the PMC6-2s! Tightest low end but I found the midrange sounded shallow, especially compared to the PSIs. I’m intrigued to try the AVAA but I’m all spent up for now with Trinnov and subs on the way🤣
@@EdThorne OK dad, I don't have a feeling about the mid range with the PMC.. if they're calibrated correctly they sound great!😉 regarding avaa c20 It gives you a pressure to balance the energy in your room in the low end! the Avas has 2 membranes in it! and swallows the space fashions in the low end... The trinnov definitely won't do that for you!😉 I'm telling you that part is magic. And if, for example, you have the psi m23m and are thinking about getting a subwoofer, test the avaa first and you will no longer need a sub... I know that from tom wettstein, who has them in his mastering sound studio and has the small 2way 8" psi studio monitor and 2 avaa c20 and no sub.. and says he can't do without it anymore! but his acoustics are perfectly muted with plate vibrators at certain frequencies and the avaa are responsible for those below 40 hz. and he doesn't use trinnov😉
Interesting that none of these speakers seem to have any baffle step correction, let alone an adjustable one. Also I take issue with time alignment delay needing additional A/D and D/A. If the crossover is alreadty in the digital domain, delays are simply signal buffering.
@@EdThorne Sorry, that doesn't follow. Speakers that have flat frequency response when close to a wall have drooping bass if in free space, and vice versa. Proximity to desk and monitor will complicate things. I guess none of them allow a direct digital feed over USB from the DAW, an dcut out its D/A stage? Probably still get resampling in the crossover but it seems that ASRCs can have very good performance now. That you dislike DSP and then choose a room corrector is also a bit weird to me, but there we go. Still, your money and your choice. I had speakers with the ATC mids in nearly 40 years ago - they were ProAcs and I got them second hand. As far as I know, the guy I sold them to has given them to his son, who still uses them. I can't help feeling that technology has moved on though - interesting that the bass/mid crossover point have risen for these domes though, even into a range where vocal fundamentals are.
Awesome stuff! I watched the entire video! I own the travel size A14 M and it's performance is excellent despite the small size. PSI makes great sub. Do you plan on getting a sub?
It's nice that someone finally said that you can have cheaper speakers next to more expensive and those cheaper ones can sound better. I noticed that we live in a distorted world of marketing bs. Thousands of (previosuly paid mainly) sites and yt channels review the same gear and say that this is the best X or Y. But you buy it, use it and after couple of months compare with other, sometimes cheaper and not well known, solution and voila! You have better experience, better quality and better sound. But company didn't pay ytbers for "reviews" so they are not so known or even unknown in the mainstream. Same with mics. I love Neumann U87 but I know that some mics for a half price can be "very very close" to the original, so is it reasonable to spend couple of thousnads of bucks more for so small difference? For pros/purists/milionaires (lol) yes but for most of independent artists, hobbyist and "tight budget" guys and so on probably not. So yes. We must start to use our ears not only "opinions of talking heads on yt". Thanks for your work man!
Let's do a mix challenge. Me on 3x cheaper speakers and ITB vs you hybrid and on these PSIs :) The same song, the same files (can be your files), no drum samples or the same drum samples for both. Could be fun for a future video on your channel if you want to do it of course

sweet spot, whilst also completing the equal sided triangle monitoring position.. I'm sure you have your reasoning for
this but just a thought;))
I have the same speakers as well. Only one thing more to mention. Besides all the facts mentioned in this Video they‘re still very pleasing, natural and for a mastering grade speaker charming to hear. And they dont give you the feeling you want to switch them off after sometime because of beeing overprecise and analytical. So said i‘m coming from Adam Speakers. Love my A23‘s a lot. I think i will never buy a new Studio Speaker. Greetz from Switzerland
You’re 100% right. These were a legacy purchase for me. I don’t need to upgrade again.
I'm pretty sure that you will buy a MUM-8 because of the new technology of the cabinet , drivers , amp etc and to be honest , the price is also more than fair , £4,162.50 a pair . I'm also very interested to buy a pair of these in future !
They are exceptional speakers and definitely in my top 3!
@@EdThornehow’s the low on the MUMs from a bass heavy techno point of view.
It’s tight and punchy. I liked the richness in the PSIs though. A combination of both would have been ideal.
Brilliant! Having walked this road not that long ago I can definitely say that you made the right choice. You will hear the differences in your mixes immediately. \m/
Thanks. I am doing already! I’ve had to adapt to the additional top end and brightness compared to the Neumanns but I’m loving it!

Great stuff. Likewise, I remember. Brazil right?
@@EdThorne yes , it's me , good to know that you remember my face 😆
why did you place the bass speaker outside and the tweeters inside?
This was how the PSI distributor suggested having them in my room. I will try them the other way round when Trinnov arrives (and the subs) but it’s such a ballache to room correct with the Neumann MA1 system I can’t be bothered moving now I have them in a sweet spot.
I've just been comparing the A23M with the Barefoot MM27s today in my studio. Couldn't get on with the Barefoots, but the A23Ms are amazing. Going to be ordering a pair on Monday.
Great choice. I hated the Barefoots, sadly.
So are you currently calibrating your room with a Neumann sub or something?
Yeh. It works pretty well. Much better than SoundID but Trinnov destroys them both.
Good choice. Very nice job they do at PSI.
Thanks. And yeh, they’re really something special!
Thank you for the lovely comment, Mark!
I was expecting you to have the XM Pulsars! I'd love to hear more about the DSP vs Analog thing if you have a minute. I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on either PSI, XM, or 8c. Thanks so much!
Feel free to hit me up on Instagram (@TheEdThorne)
is there a reason why u chose to have tweeter&mid drivers on the inner side (n subs on the outside)?
Would love to own those speakers.
thanks dude great output....after all the deliberation, it really would put the cherry on the cake if u did try the dutch & dutch.. especially now you've found your forever speaker.
I believe they’re still currently unavailable in the UK atm. Heard incredible things though. However, I am a convert to all analog speakers.
Haha. The MUMs were definitively in my top 3!

Hi!
Congratulations on your purshase. 😊
I'm going to update my studio, very soon, and I'm thinking buying the PSI A25-M Studio Red.
Thank a lot. Best,M
@@EdThornehe actually recently returned the D&D’s

Apparently he wasn’t a fan of onboard DSP either.
Great set of videos! Out of interest what distance are you from these speakers in your listening position?
Thanks. I'm about 1m-1.2m away from them. So they just about work at this distance
While I don't think I could ever afford the A23m's I got my eye on the A17M's need to start saving up lol.
Love my Genelec 8351B's!
What is the woofer size on these? I saw they have specs but i'm not sure which correlates with how other manufacturers measure?
Woofer ext. diam. 9.4 in
W. diaphragm diam. 6.8 in
It’s been really cool and helpful watching you go through this process!
I see you're selling them on Reverb now, what's coming next?

@@EdThorne what led you to sell them?
Thanks for the video🤝
So how to You feel about those monitors after a few months? :)
PSI... the B roll said it all 😂
These are my toss up between the MUM's at the moment.
Haha. Those who know PSI would have guessed it straight away but I wants to dangle carrots for everyone else 🤣
For me, choosing between the MUM8s and PSIs, came down to DSP Vs Analog, and the richness in the low end on the PSIs.
Congrats to great speakers😀
Thank you!
So from your list wich is second and third?
Good question. 1. PSI. 2. Ex Machina. 3. MUM8. I’d only managed to hear the Ex Machina’s after my MUM8 interview and I’d bought the PSIs though.
About to buy ATC 45 or Pmc 2-6 . Don’t know which ones
Both killer speakers! I’d say for guitar based music and recording - ATC. For dance/EDM/Hip-hop etc - PMC own it!
💡 Anyone noticed that "MUM-8" phonetically sounds like "My Mate?" (British pronunciation: "mah mate") 😃
I think it's intentional.
Knowing the PDP guys a little bit now, as I do, I’m pretty sure it’s 100% to do with mum jokes 🤣
Mum jokes? 😄 Is that a UK thing? Elaborate please 🙂
Haha. Ok. Best I don’t elaborate in public. Very much distasteful British banter 🤣
Hello Ed :) Have you tested these compared to the Focal Trio6's or Neumann Kh420 or even genelec 8361A? Cheers
Were you able to compare these to the Adam Audio S3V?
Hey Ed, can you review the Rodecaster duo, specifically from a music production point of view? It’s quite expensive but I’m a streaming musician and I want to know if it will work well. I’ve only seen one channel touch on guitar with it, but I don’t know how well it integrates into OBS or my Daw software. It has really great mic preamps but I don’t know if it could replace my interface setup
Do you use a sub with this monitors ?
I’ve just got a pair. Still getting used to them and Trinnov
Which of the 2 sounds louder? PSI a23m vs Ex Machina Pulsar
Which would be more suitable for Trap, Hip Hop or a more bass heavy genre?
They both crank well beyond what you’d be mixing at. The PSIs go down to 30Hz at -10dB. Pulsars are pretty much a steep roll off at 40.
@@EdThorne Thank you!
psi 23 :) but I'm really curious why and how they compare to Mum8. Mum8 on paper have crazy drivers but sure It's not all about drivers
The PSIs were definitely in the top three!
😉 We Swiss already knew how to build good speakers!😉😂
I had Piega in the studio for a long time - they are the developers of the coaxial ribbon tweeter! sound incredible! and is built in Switzerland! is used more in hi fi - high end.. also works great in the sound studio.. very high resolution!😉😘
But I switched to the PMC 6.2 myself, for me it's the perfect sounding studio monitor.. sound excellent.. and for me the best low end I've ever heard!😱👌💥 ❤️and super mid and hi sound, fantastic stereo image and bass depth!😍 They should better stand on stands and have a listening distance of approx. 140 cm! Only then do they really sound excellent!😘
Otherwise it is better to choose another studio monitor!🙏The PMC 6.2 needs air to breathe!😂😉🙏
But what I'm thinking about increasing the psi on the Avaa C20 to get the bass modes in the room under control is an active bass mode remover. really brilliant technology!
I’m intrigued to try the AVAA but I’m all spent up for now with Trinnov and subs on the way🤣
@@EdThorne OK dad, I don't have a feeling about the mid range with the PMC.. if they're calibrated correctly they sound great!😉
regarding avaa c20
It gives you a pressure to balance the energy in your room in the low end! the Avas has 2 membranes in it! and swallows the space fashions in the low end...
That’s why I chose the all analog PSIs.

You're complaining that the PSI doesn't have a class G amp when it does. You have no idea what kind of tweeter the PSI has, yet the Focal is better.
The plain simple truth is, there are levels to everything. The Focal Trio 11 is a great mid price monitor. The PSI is a much better and higher priced product in a completely different category and is better in every conceivable way. What is funny to me is you're asking Ed what he tried and he told you.
